  • It is a unique synth. Except for big modulars, it's the only one that can produce weird loops like the class-leading ones like VCS3/AKS and ARP 2600.

    C.

  • @clarius1973 what about ms-20, pro one, monopoly, plenty more out there too

  • play him, off, keyboard man!!

  • The Sonic Six's construction reminds me a bit of the Wurlitzer MLM.

  • i heard the MOOG little phatty was supposed to sound the closes to this synth apparently. :D awesome sound!! so fat

  • this is a beautiful synth, but an awful demo! play something thats not dissonant, ear -splitting, and non-harmonic. please!

  • @HyperSonic707

I think the demo was just for the different options of the synth, not to show off with some noodling drivel...I hate synth demos where they don't go through the synth, and instead show how fast they can play....and also, much of what a synthesizer can do is indeed ear-splitting, non-harmonic, and dissonant...

  • Hoho!! so THAT'S what they were playing on the song 'Lucky Man' ...

  • for the record, the sonic six was released in 1974. ;)

  • Amstrad CPC 464 games music?

  • play ... "Popcorn"

  • sounds like a general instrument P.S.G.

  • That has an awesome sound.. man you just don't get that out of a computer

  • Admit it: It's just such a cute synth <3

  • like a game boy when i was young lol but i love keyboard moog mark 5, and other synth, incredible instrument

  • well everyone said what I wanted to say. Heard this on so many video games in the early eighties, they must have decided- the sonic six will be the sound of the future. thanks

  • @Locust1313 I'm pretty sure that they don't used the SonicSix for creating Video Game Music cause Audio Soundtracks where way to large to be stored on a Module or Floppy. Also the Sampling Technology wasn't developed that much. But it sounds similar to old Video Game Music cause the Music Creators used the internal Soundchips of the Computers to generate that Sounds. These Soundchips used the same basic Waveforms like Triangle, Sawtooth, Sine as a Soundsource like almost all old Synthesizers do.

  • Oh, this bring me back to late 70`s and a sounds like game, typical seventies:-)

  • i. want. this.

  • I've never seen one of these. Interesting on the wheel being side-ways like that. Human sound. Bob Moog always made something human out of all the bits. How do you find all this stuff? My Minimoog used to sometimes track wild like that.

  • nice shirt

  • cool

  • freaky...

  • Sounds exactly like a Colecovision... must have been using square waves for everything.

  • very nice vid....amazing synth!! cool and stylish as well, i want one...almost as good as the mini

  • wow. the moog has some pretty nice sounds. all you have to do is turn the knobs until you get the sounds you want. sometimes, i swear some of the sounds sound like they came from an old 8-bit video or computer game. ^.^

  • Yeh! it sounds like the vca trigger section came from a commodore 64 computer :p

  • The sonic six was made in 1972? That early?

  • Around 2:50 it starts to sound like gabber!

I think I'm in love with this model <3

  • hate gabber

  • (I don't like it much either!)

  • Could some of the problems be attributed to problems with old electrolytic capacitors and cold solder joints on any of the printed boards if this instrument has any?

  • awesome 3/4 noise rhythm

  • 2 lfo's = heaven

  • what do you call synths where you do custom osc with square/saw/sine/triangle instead of having a bunch of crap midi preset sounds like piano/guitar/banjo/whatever.

  • a synthesizer, perferably analog

  • Sega for sure and maybe Pole Position

  • Hello, I've posted this video on switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot . com

  • How much are they worth on eBay?

  • like $3,600

  • Thanks for telling me.

  • That's an alright price for a vintage.

  • Hey, Pea... I had the same problem as number 1 on your list... there is a big huge connector interface inside of the Sonic Six which was not a great design, and it is responsible for the problem!

  • Great instrument!

  • This must be what was used on those regular Nintendo (NES) games.

  • this sounds more like the Sega Master System more than the NES

  • informative video. thank you!

  • Ha! It must work... your shredding powers are mighty.

  • Great keyboard.... but what's with the shirt, Mr. Hicks? Yikes!

  • the shirt gives me great synthesizer playing powers. i would not have been able to blow you away shredding on this synthesizer without wearing the magic shirt. and before you ask, NO, the shirt will NOT be included in the ebay auction. get your own damn magic synthesizer shirt!!!
