  • Please stop enabling Mark and his wife by giving them even one more penny! His wife's addiction to fame, codependency and manipulation, coupled with Mark's addiction to power, sex and pleasing his mommy wife, is destroying the name of jesus. Any believer who buys any message, is voluntarily poisoning their soul. Stop allowing Mark's wife to milk her cash cow (Mark) and protect their children who are being abandoned by their parents attempts to SELL the message. What comes from God is NOT for sale

  • How do we know that Driscoll is not interpreting the Bible incorrectly??

  • I like Mark, but his definition of "cessationist" is simply wrong. Cessationist's accept all aspects of the work of the Holy Spirit Mark said they deny, but argue divine revelation, miraculous 'tongues and knowledge' were for a specific time to confirm the presence of the Kingdom, and have ended (1Cor. 13:8ff). If this is not so, then where are the prophet's today who are adding to the compiled Word of God? Can't have it both ways.

  • @sonlover62 To accept some of the works of the Spirit but deny others is not only unscriptural (that verse is taken out of context), but Mark's point exactly. Mark himself realized his error in that area when he started receiving divine revelations; to deny something that is clearly still at work was indeed foolish. Words of knowledge, tongues, and prophesies do not necessitate Scriptural addition. Most of the early church's prophesies/words went unrecorded, because that was never their purpose.

  • WOW real talk Driscoll

Theres nothing wrong with having a preference but when you start bein dogmatic about it and start tryin to enforce your preference on other believers as if it was essential and start lookin down on others who are different thats when you're legalistic

  • @Pietiafox Why did you watch this then? ......

  • Cause title was a little bit interesting...

  • LOL, He calls people who say one thing and do another "hypocrites".

He also tells that the bible is perfect and yet he (probably) never killed a gay man, wizards or people who ate shellfish.

    Fucking hypocrite.

  • Heh, he discribed Moses.

  • "Jesus Heals A Leper And A Paralytic"

But did he heal an amputee? :P

  • So is mark a fundamentalist?

  • Does this describe YOUR church?

  • Man this is deep and so true, great video by the way, I've had my run ins with allot of religious folks myself, there always the first ones to judge others, but what's even more annoying about them is the fact that they don't know how to mind there own business, just something I wanted to add. But anyways, great video.

  • This isn't one of your worst videos, I'll openly admit that. But while watching, I can't help but think that it describes you quite well and that your being quite hypocritical.

  • While I do agree with most of what Mark preaches, I think that he's mistaken on what the majority of orthodox Christian cessationists believe on the matter.

Most, if not all, don't deny the power of the Holy Spirit in conviction, regeneration....etc. The main point of dispute comes when we speak about supernatural gifts of prophecy and tongues, which were meant for the first century church to spread the Gospel.

  • great knowlegto know and apply to my life

  • if u believe in the fundamentals of the faith then you should not be afraid to be called a Fundamentalist. I don't like arrogance and legalism, etc. But I am Not ashamed to be called a Fundamentalist.

  • HIs definition of Fundamentalism is as narrow as his definition of Cessationists. There is much merit in what he says and Fundamentalists have certainly been guilty of all 7 of these things, but they are not inherent to Fundamentalism. Many who would not call themselves fundamental who display each problem and those who do call themselves fundamental that at least endeavor to avoid these pitfalls. I agree on each point, but I don't agree that each point directly relates to fundamentalism.

  • Mark, thank you for your ministry and devotion to bringing everything you teach back around to Jesus. It is truly inspiring. You remind me a lot of my own pastor, but you're more 'correct' when it comes to doctrine. I love that you don't use humor to water down the crucial points, but instead use it in effort to make people feel more welcome and at home. I know the two methods may sound the same, but the results are totally different.

  • Am I the one who was just a little bit offended for him implying that cessationists = unloving and not trusting the Holy Spirit?

  • Don't be offended, but tell Mark in any way you can that there are those out there who are cessationists only on the supposed "supernatural gifts." Having grown up on the campus of a fundamentalist university, I've never heard such a narrow definition of cessationism. It's an inaccurate discussion of the view. . . but then that proves the rest of his sermon.

  • meh, I wasn't horribly offended just a bit. a moderate cessationist view (as well as a moderate continualist view) is in no way fundamentalist. I think Mark should have use the historical deffinition of the word as oppose to using the steryotype he has in his head. Also I really think Mark Dever would profit from readin Volume 1 of Herman Bavinck's Reformed Dogmatics! Religion and christianity are the same but the two cannot survive with out the other.

  • Mark Dever was my pastor at one time. Not a strict cessationist, but then then he's not a fundamentalist by some definitions either. :-)

  • I may not agree with your religion or your belief, but I agree wholeheartedly with your first point in this video. I do not concur that there is a god, but I do know that we are all fallible, and we must question. Thank you for asking your followers to be skeptical, even of your own teachings. That's the first step to true freedom and enlightenment.

    Peace.

  • @kailia666

the true question is, where do you find your answers??

  • Answers are not the prime motivation for me, questions are. But as to where my research leads me, everywhere is the best answer I can give you. Any book with a bibliography is a wonderful start, as are many many channels here on You-Tube. Nobody will ever know everything about the universe and the human condition within it, it is in asking honest questions and examining each answer that you receive in comparison to the base of knowledge that you posses where one begins to learn.

  • Jesus drove the money changers out of the temple because they had no biblical right to exchange money in the temple of YHWH; according to Christian orthodoxy, Jesus is YHWH Himself, He has every right to charge them with trespassing.

you don't understand what forgiveness is in the xian tradition if you think it means "keep doing what you're doing, it's ok". jesus is free to respond to some with patience, and to others with righteous anger. this was His message, there's no inconsistency in Him.
