i like this band but i also like opeth a well.. u cant compare some bands.. all singers have their own voice a guitarists have their own styles.. the words are deep..the singer reminds me of a couple of Therions songs..

thanks jesse.. their intro is nice grand..they have many sounds actually.. the seplutura voice or pantera type but also when he wants a sweet mellow song he cna do that too to me a singer has to be versatile talentally speaking.. he went thru changes.. i play guitar and wish i can be in the band but that would not be good.. :) but in the band therion good in that sense. you might also like opeth as well thas how i found amorphis in that realm.. its in my playlist..

This is definitely not Joutsen's best performance. The growls are fine, but the clean parts sound a bit weak, and he has a little trouble singing high notes.

Is it just me, or is this way lighter (as in, not as heavy) than the album version or their usual live versions?

I love this song! I consider the "Eclipse" line-up to be Amorphis' strongest yet (the Pasi years were ok, but damn, Tomi seems to be THE guy for Amorphis). Anybody else notice that Tomi has a kind of Captain Jack Sparrow pirate look going on? Maybe that will be the new look for metal (wait a minute, didn't Running Wild do the pirate thing back in the 80's)?

I said that the band hit a HR by getting this singer, I was not talking about this particular song and video clip. Read more carefully. The vocals for "the smoke" are not so easy to perform live, so I understand that he couldn't reach a couple of notes in the last chorus in this clip. He's a great singer
