What interests are you talking about? The interest America has is that, well, look at all the countries that America currently has troops in. They are all located around Iran. Russia doesn't have the same aim as the U.S. The U.S. just sees it as a good opportunity to set up a military base just like in Iraq so they've got both sides of Iran surrounded. Or else, I don't think it's that hard to win a "war" against a bunch of Talibans living in friggin caves in Afghanistan.
