I was definitely in the crowd of writing it off. Mostly because I knew from the get go it would tank. A thirty minute show based on a sixty second sight gag just isn't going to last long.
But, who knows. Maybe the fans of Cavemen will do what Browncoats did for Firefly and Cavemen will get a two hour movie deal.
Next Gen took three seasons to get good. The first season was almost entirely unwatchable, the second season was only a slight improvement with a few exceptions like "Measure of a Man," and while the third season didn't have barely-watchable shitfests like the first two did, it was bland and boring. It's not until "Best of Both Worlds" that the show really takes off.
Why couldn't that british gekko get his own tv show?
