As far as HK parts go, I had a Turnigy motor on here originally and hated the lack of power, especially compared to the Torque. But you could definitely go with a Turnigy Plush ESC, HK servos, Rhino or Flightmax batteries, etc if you wanted a cheaper setup.
nice flying! how is this plane holding up for you? would you consider it a good bang for your $130 buck? price seems kinda high for a foamy...but it does look great in the air. i have a headsup 3530-11 260watt motor that needs a home. It was last running on a hyperion edge 10e with only 255 inches of wing area...i crashed it twice. i have a 10x5e prop, 35A esc, and 1800 3S lipo.
what set up are you useing becuse i like to fly 3d and what is the cost with charger and battery and all the hardware. i have just rebuilt mine and painted it and i whant to flyyyyyy it lol!!!!!!
I guess it depends on what is a lot of money to you. The plane runs $120-130. Then there is another couple hundred for the electronics. If you use name brand electronics, you are looking at around $350 for the electronics and a battery. If you buy your parts from hong kong (hobby king for example) then you can build it for much less.
@MattA787 My AM has around 700 flights on it and is still going strong (many, many crashes later). I don't fly it as much as I once did, but it still gets 10-15 flights a month. If you want to run HobbyKing parts, I recommend buying a good name brand motor. The Torque 2818 900kv motor is a perfect fit and some of the best power to weight when flown with a 13x6.5 prop. Crazy power on this small airframe. The E-flight Power10 is also a decent alternative.
Ideal landing!
