p00lman. Not sure what you mean by that...but there are peaceful camaign rallies. And while I'm not a racist, I tell the truth as I see it. You are the ignorant liberal tool.
But it was OK for the lib nut cases who had swastikas on their posters with Pres. Bush and anybody else that had a different opinion. Then it was all free speech (which it is). Never hear a peep from this guy or the other dems about that. You reap what you sow.
There is something a bit screwy about this. Note closely that both letters are folded in the CENTER, as such, they will not fit into standard envelopes.Since no one uses a 6"x9" envelope to mail letters, it is unlikely that these have ever been mailed! More likely they were generated by someone who was trying to stir up trouble, even it requires a fake letter to do it.
the originals were maybe burnt or thrown away, they could had of made some or one copies for this very interview,it's really not hard to believe that there is people like that, new time nazis as we call them here. What I don't understand is so many americans being so upset about Obama's election,I don't live in America, but it really seems that he isn't only taken for granted but people are already angry saying stuff like 'nothing's changed/improved yet!' as if that's something you fix in a week
If you want to help get sponsors to stop advertising on Glenn Beck because he called President Obama a racist, go to Color of Change and sign the petition. It will only take a minute or two of your time. These conservative talk show hosts who stoke fear and hate should be held accountable for doing so. They have a responsibility that goes with the microphone.
Maybe it was just a hindu wishing Scott good luck on health care reform. Or maybe it was a buddhist who thinks we should have a red swastika charity for health care reform.
i can't believe we still have drudge like the folks who wrote those letters. well, actually, i can believe it. duh. very sad though. that second one sounded straight out of the days of segregation. damn... oh well. more fuel to pass health care reform. keep it up!
I don't know where you live, but I'm from New York, and I realize more and more that the middle part of America is a very strange and scary place . . .
NYC has more closed minded liberals than anywhere else (sorry San Fran). I watched a peaceful republican party campaign rally in NYC and the level of hatred by the libs (mostly joos and blacks) was unbelieivable and frankly, embarassing. For the libs, its "free speech for me and not for thee"
you want to know about racist in America? Look up Japanse American citizens in 1945 and see what happened there.... Im sick of everyone calling racism where there is only differences... a black man kills a white man and it's murder, if a white man kills a black man its referred/. investigated as a hate crime... wtf can't everyone jsut accept that different races ARE different... none better than the others necessarily, but you cant label anyone with diff views racist automatically...
No, racism takes lots of forms, not all of them with negative effects.
People are different, you're correct, but they should be treated equally after taking those differences into account.
For example, Obama is the first black president. He should be treated like any other president, but that landmark, and what it means in the face of the history of America, can't be ignored.
Racial differences should be acknowledged simply for their existence.
This needs to be said; Even though it is supposed to be legal in N.H. What would have happened if a black man would have shown up at a Presidental Town Hall meeting in New Hampshire with a gun strapped to his hip. HE WOULD NOT HAVE LEFT THERE ALIVE, I KNOW THIS AND YOU ALL KNOW THIS
These damn protesters at these town halls are just a bunch of racist bastards, and they are trying to destroy the country!
I have not been too concerned with racism in the past, but when these assholes want to stop universal health care, spread lies, and kill the president, that totally crosses the line!
Fuck those lunatic, racist, whacko, right wing idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!
True! and it just means that we are winning the battle. The left has Billions in Funds that they gave to Obama in order for him to give the SEIU and Americorps Special Privleges in this bill. they will not go down without Their THUGZ swinging and using Alinski Tactics. This is what they DO BEST! KEEP UP THE FIGHT! WE ARE THE RIGHTOUS ONES!
acting like people from the right are "the rightous ones" is pure stupidity . there are people from either side have done alot of bidding for special interests. FAR more form the right i might add.
Marnie, are you goddamn blind?! - The second letter writer can be made out as:
John R. Meyers
2601 Shagbark Ave SE
Grand Rapids, MI 49546
Ph.: (616) 949-0760
Is that enough of a clue for ya, girlfriend?
There is no left fear mongering on this issue! There is however MASSIVE, DELIBERATE right wing fear mongering and distortions of the FACTS as well as right wing thugs sending black Dem. politicians intimidating hate mail the KKK would be proud of.
I think the phone number is 616-449-0760. Give this Repuglican racist a call and don't get angry at him, tell him how really sad and disappointed you are in another American to hear the words he used.

skepticism can be healthy but there's a point where skepticism crosses over into outright paranoia.
The sensible position is usually to expect the most reasonable explanation to be the correct one (that he received the letters) and for extraordinary explanations to require proof. Is it possible that he faked the letters? yes, sure, but there's no reason (no evidence) to believe that is actually the case
What's the difference between Nazi Germany and the United States ?
1.2 million Iraqi civilians are dead that stat never gets mentioned. (Genocide)
250,000 Patriots sleep on the street every night , that's disgusting.
Corporations + Government = Fascism
Symptoms are not problems realize that the united states is a modern fascist state. Hate filled feedback is a symptom of that reality. (divide and conquer propaganda)

LOL @ handwritten letters in the year 2009.
Black congressman undoubtedly get some racist mail any time they're attempting to enact ANY policy. So it's hardly relevant to bring it up now.. it's a distraction tactic i.e. rather than defend the health care policy, just point out how loony some of the fringe ppl who oppose it are.
amen thellegit, black congressmen should know better, make a comment on a policy, anything those "types" (you know what I mean) say; should and will be discounted like you and me. He's lucky he got his freedom am I right?

he should get hate mail. he's a piece of shit who yelled out of a doctor and shot his mouth off before he knew who he was. he's a total charleton poltician & the poster child for term limits.
Oh, poor baby, Obama made up to be the joker. Too fuckin bad. 8 years of posters of GW Bush as a Nazi & u asshole did it to Reagan too. What goes around comes around.
This is the face of the current republican party, these racist hate letters, the painted swastika. If only the republican politicians would stand against this madness and tell off idiots like Limbaugh who are encouraging it. What the hell are they doing instead? Why are they condoning this?
That Republicans condone and even encourage (in the case of people like Rush Limbaugh) these kinds of nasty, angry, hate-filled message in place of real debate and discussion.
No, not everyone Republican acts this way, but the problem is that by not speaking out against it, they silently endorse this type of behavior.
When someone like Colin Powell speaks out against people like Rush, he gets labeled as not a member of the Republican party.
I am pretty sure I have never heard one single Republican or Conservative every come out to encourage and condone this kind of behavior. Second, who says a Republican or a Conservative sent these emails? Bottom line don't generalize.
Lastly, Colin Powell is not a conservative because he spoke out against Rush but because he does not believe in the core conservative values. He believes in BIG GOVERNMENT, Pro-Choice, Pro Gun Control, supports affirmative action.
Yeah the Democrats did a lot of "talking" about the Iraq War, but just to get elected. Peloisi did a great job at that and as soon as she became Speaker of the House, she took impeachment "off the table".
And then we endured another 2 years of Bush. After we elected Obama and now we're still at war, only we can't call it the "War on Terror" anymore.
Since you admit that they opposed the war and that they were elected, then you're saying that at least half the country was against the war, which supports my argument that they represented the views of the people.
We're gradually ending our wars. We pulled out of Iraq, and we formally ended our "war on terror." You don't end these things cold turkey.
Eh, we pulled 20,000 troops out of Iraq to put them into Afghanistan. Secretary of Defense Gates has also increased the our troop levels by 20,000 (and is pushing for 40,000).
Secondly, who were our enemies for "The War On Terror" . Aren't there still Islamic fundamentalists out to destroy us? (They used Iraq as a recruiting tool after all).
It's still at least one less war. That's an important distinction to make.
We can't wage a war on Islamic fundamentalists in general. It's not one large society of guys hanging out in a cave. Terrorism is a tactic. We can only wait and then react, or use our intel to intercept and prevent. You can't fight a tactic.
Why does the average American tolerate this kind of nonsense? It's apparent that Republican mouthpieces in the media, in business and the government are stoking the flames of hatred.
Why, there ought to be people marching in the streets outraged at having their own country painted as the modern base of operations of Nazi Germany.
Yet another stain on the reputation of the U.S. thanks to the right wing strategists: it makes ALL Americans look bad.
It's not just blacks that need to stand up against racism that's directed against them. ALL of us who are enlightened on the subject need to let these mental knuckledraggers know that they are a distinct minority and this KKK nonsense will not be tolerated any longer. This John R. Meyers creep should be publicly shamed - I bet that cockroach never thought his letter would show up on national TV and people could figure out his info and possibly give him a taste of his own medicine.
he's actually incorrect about the swastika ... the character of the swastica is a tilted version of a rune used for ritual magic. Adolph was a known cultist.
Hey, smart ass, so you watch the history chanel, uh? Even if the swastika was originally an ancient symbol everybody knows that in this context it represents nazi germany, the white supremacist system that made that symbol known to all of us, and the general use of that symbol is in reference to nazi, neo-nazi, white-supremacists, skinheads, and other far-right white supremacist movements . It represents the Holocaust, it represents racial hatred, it does not represent ocultism at all
Total Fail bro. 1st, She was from the 30s when eugenics was a reasonable idea (i should have clarified the Modern Left). 2nd, Sanger was against abortion (despite being an Atheist), the "Negro Project" you speak of was about giving better access to contraception to poor blacks, since we know that too many kids is a leading cause of poverty. "Stupid comments"=irony/hypocrisy since mine are getting thumbed up and yours are getting thumbed down. Eat a dick dimwit.
awe do you want to use it? you do don't you -- squirrelly little weasel. you give white people a bad name. kill yourself please. thank you. have a nice day.
no you dick, my point is that they should either sensor it for everyone or no one. the word doesn't lose it's offensiveness if a black person uses it.
it isn't a "black person's word" or a "white person's word". it is a bad word and that's all there is to it. douche.
the word is a word -- if you are reading huck finn i hope you realize it means something entirely different than the way it is usually used.
i don't think the word is used by many people that have advanced degrees in linguisitics. it shows ignorance,
i think its better to bring up children to respect other peoples opinions -- which means you don't use language that would offend. i have used it in the company of racists so they will expose themselves as fools -- is that a bad thing?
But if it is the GOP's point of view that Obama will attempt to exterminate a race like Hitler did.
I doubt that is the plan of health care. And I doubt that is the plan at all. But frighteningly there are many GOPers who actually believe that.
But let's say they are right. What will the likely do? If somebody wants to prevent a similar holocaust like the Jewish Holocaust they are more likely to bring that point up as a point in debate. If that doesn't work they become violent.

JPS1962 2 years ago
There is something a bit screwy about this. Note closely that both letters are folded in the CENTER, as such, they will not fit into standard envelopes.Since no one uses a 6"x9" envelope to mail letters, it is unlikely that these have ever been mailed! More likely they were generated by someone who was trying to stir up trouble, even it requires a fake letter to do it.

you want to know about racist in America? Look up Japanse American citizens in 1945 and see what happened there.... Im sick of everyone calling racism where there is only differences... a black man kills a white man and it's murder, if a white man kills a black man its referred/. investigated as a hate crime... wtf can't everyone jsut accept that different races ARE different... none better than the others necessarily, but you cant label anyone with diff views racist automatically...
wellsbryanjason 2 years ago
No, racism takes lots of forms, not all of them with negative effects.
People are different, you're correct, but they should be treated equally after taking those differences into account.
For example, Obama is the first black president. He should be treated like any other president, but that landmark, and what it means in the face of the history of America, can't be ignored.
Racial differences should be acknowledged simply for their existence.

The sensible position is usually to expect the most reasonable explanation to be the correct one (that he received the letters) and for extraordinary explanations to require proof. MooseOfReason 2 years ago

So you refuse to believe it could have been written by a conservative? Really?
p00lman 2 years ago
p00lman, You said, "This is the face of the current Republican Party."
You would think labeling tens of millions of people racists would require some proof.
MooseOfReason 2 years ago
Nope, never labeled millions of people racist.
You need to get your logic fixed.
p00lman 2 years ago
p00lman, What were you saying, then, by calling this "the face of the Republican Party"? What did you mean by "face"?
MooseOfReason 2 years ago
That Republicans condone and even encourage (in the case of people like Rush Limbaugh) these kinds of nasty, angry, hate-filled message in place of real debate and discussion.
No, not everyone Republican acts this way, but the problem is that by not speaking out against it, they silently endorse this type of behavior.
When someone like Colin Powell speaks out against people like Rush, he gets labeled as not a member of the Republican party.
p00lman 2 years ago
I am pretty sure I have never heard one single Republican or Conservative every come out to encourage and condone this kind of behavior. Second, who says a Republican or a Conservative sent these emails? Bottom line don't generalize.
Lastly, Colin Powell is not a conservative because he spoke out against Rush but because he does not believe in the core conservative values. He believes in BIG GOVERNMENT, Pro-Choice, Pro Gun Control, supports affirmative action.
rivemor 2 years ago
Limbaugh has been saying Democrats are nazis. Beck is calling Obama a racist. This is hate-filled language that exists to stir up angry feelings.
There is no proof who sent that email, but I'll bet you anything it wasn't a Democrat.
Colin Powell is a moderate conservative. Just because he doesn't toe the party line all the time doesn't mean he's not a republican.
p00lman 2 years ago
There are things, I'm sure, you're not continually speaking out against. Surely that doesn't mean you endorse any of it.
Are they encouraging people to act racist? Protesting at town hall meetings loudly and angrily, sure. But I doubt the former.
MooseOfReason 2 years ago
This is the most critical issue right now, and plenty of democratic leaders are speaking out against this kind of behavior.
The republicans are staying quiet, and that's as much a silent endorsement as anything. Silence speaks louder than words.
p00lman 2 years ago
I just don't think not expressing your opinion means you support something. Otherwise the Iraq War would have over a 90% approval rating.
MooseOfReason 2 years ago
Many democrats vocally opposed the Iraq war, and were representative of much democratic sentiment.
But where are the republicans decrying the hate-filled ranting, the anger, the nazi labels and swastikas, the racist sentiments? Is there anyone?
p00lman 2 years ago
Yeah the Democrats did a lot of "talking" about the Iraq War, but just to get elected. Peloisi did a great job at that and as soon as she became Speaker of the House, she took impeachment "off the table".
And then we endured another 2 years of Bush. After we elected Obama and now we're still at war, only we can't call it the "War on Terror" anymore.
Kapan60 2 years ago
Since you admit that they opposed the war and that they were elected, then you're saying that at least half the country was against the war, which supports my argument that they represented the views of the people.
We're gradually ending our wars. We pulled out of Iraq, and we formally ended our "war on terror." You don't end these things cold turkey.
p00lman 2 years ago
I like how we gradually end the war by adding 20,000 more troops in Afghanistan.
Just because mainstream media fails to report on it, doesn't mean we're still fighting it.
Kapan60 2 years ago
Just because you fail to accept that we pulled out of Iraq and ended the "war on terror" doesn't mean we haven't.
p00lman 2 years ago
Eh, we pulled 20,000 troops out of Iraq to put them into Afghanistan. Secretary of Defense Gates has also increased the our troop levels by 20,000 (and is pushing for 40,000).
Secondly, who were our enemies for "The War On Terror" . Aren't there still Islamic fundamentalists out to destroy us? (They used Iraq as a recruiting tool after all).
It's an endless war. No one wins occupations.
The Russians learned that. We haven't.
Kapan60 2 years ago
It's still at least one less war. That's an important distinction to make.
We can't wage a war on Islamic fundamentalists in general. It's not one large society of guys hanging out in a cave. Terrorism is a tactic. We can only wait and then react, or use our intel to intercept and prevent. You can't fight a tactic.
p00lman 2 years ago
We aren't out of Iraq though. We still have troops, private contractors, and built 14 military bases there.
You call that ending the war?
Kapan60 2 years ago
Yes. We have bases stationed in many countries that aren't at war.
p00lman 2 years ago
LOL. So did the Romans and the Bristh. Look what happened to them.
I could probably point out all of the countries that fell to the Axis during WW2. Like France for instance.
Kapan60 2 years ago
The Romans didn't have international bases. The Roman bases were located within its own empire.
The British are doing fine.
I don't see what your point is. There is no world war.
p00lman 2 years ago
Rome considered the entire world within it's realm. The British did just the same with their empire.
Now the American Empire is crumbling. We've debased our currency as corruption has overtaken Washington DC.
This has been going on for decades.

But let's say they are right. What will the likely do? If somebody wants to prevent a similar holocaust like the Jewish Holocaust they are more likely to bring that point up as a point in debate. If that doesn't work they become violent.
