Kirk's brother was Sam as mentioned in the original series where he was killed. Who knows what happens to him in the new timeline thanks to Nero screwing everything up..
what i have to ask is this: where did some of these scenes come from? the DVD version i have doesn't have any of the scenes that i've been finding that are honestly cuts from the movie
@tenlaius LOL same happen to me. These are Honest cut scenes from the movie, i added dirctors commentry subtitle while bored one day and JJ himself said that they were cut from the movie and were meant to be put on the DVD, which didnt happen...
I had no idea about the context of that scene where kirk drives by that kid because I didn't know that was his brother. I could stand an extra minute of movie if it added context
That's been in the canon since Classic Star Trek. Sam Kirk's first reference is in "What are Little Girls Made of?" and we finally see him in the opening teaser of "Operation: Annihilate!".

Couldn't stand the car scene. Silly Nokia product placement. Stupid looking Justin Bieber "young Kirk" who couldn't act. Rap song on the radio.
Could have done without that scene.
