  • Is It me or is the horse dozing off to wanting to sleep at: 0:11? LOL :P

  • Thx

  • My instructor used to tell me to hold my reins in bolth hands, Using all my fingers exept my pinkies, She made us wrap our pinkeys around the reins and fold into a fist...Hard to explain

  • why chicks like horses?

  • @MrMethadrine i like horses, because im household cavalry lad

  • if you pull the rains on the left will the horse turn left???

  • @ilovedogs333221 Yuppers

  • @ilovedogs333221 of course..why not? but only the left rein

  • Love the horse, If it were mine I'd call it chester. :)

  • you also want the reins even,,,,,which they arent

  • to put it simply you should have light contact with the horses mouth but nothing to tight that you are pulling on the horses head

  • i want to have sex with the girl in the yellow polo...only me?

  • the reins are way to tight!

  • @jessicajines13 they arent tight at all!

  • @magictgirl you my sister you stupid me awsome

  • ok then i do it a different way then cuz thats not the way i do it!

  • ok then i do it a different way then cuz thats not the wa i do it!

  • Hmm...it should be titled How NOT to Hold the Reins..

  • How to Hold the Penis

  • it doesn't depent on the horse, you ride with your legs and body not with the reins?

  • Y are you holding the reins so tight!!!

  • yeah i agree i ride english too but the horse is obviously agitated by the bit not that it's wrong but she need's to loosen her reins just a little bit...

  • im british male and prefer to hold the reins more western style by haveing the reins with the loop underneth my hands instead of over like shown in the vid i find it much easier for me to control the reins and movement of the horse using all of my hand (not threaded threw fingers) and use my forarm for addition strength if required i.e. horse on a rampage or somthing like that, but the way i was taught was as u show and is for galuping and beginers....

  • she's riding English... the reins have to be tight like that to keep the straight line between the rider's arm through to the horse's mouth. It's always important that the horse feels the rider on the bit in English-style riding.

  • @rocmcg Yes, there should be a straight line from mouth to hand, you are correct, but the horse doesn't always need to have a heavy hand on its mouth, that's a bit of a misconception on basic English riding.

  • pause at 0:07 lolz!

  • this wont help western riders.

  • She's holding the reins too tightly, what are you doing, trying to give the horse mouth problems?

  • i just want to say! to all of the people concerned about the horse and his mouth... it is called being 'on the bit', it is simply the horse accepting the bit in his mouth, and slightly 'bending' with his neck, this in fact is much easier for the horse to carry the weight on top of him, it is better for his back and muscles! and i dont see anywhere where this girl 'pulls' him in his mouth... and if the horse gets 'on the bit'.... he is softer in his mouth! and then u are softer with ur hands!

  • i have noticed that all her videos ahave something majorly wrong like this one tight grip....... loosin it a bit when you canter or trot it may fell uncomfertable.... its either the teacher doesnt know how to ride or the student is doing evey thing wrong and the teacher doesnt know

  • your holding the reins to tight.loosen them up alittle!

  • @myhorseismylife97 this is called 'on the bit' it is supposed to be like that, it is much much easier to handle the horse, it is better for the horses' back, and it is simply him 'accepting' the bit in his mouth, rather that resisting it... and to have no control! =]

  • @MrsflirtyEyes ohhhhhh!!!okk i understand now!!:D

  • @myhorseismylife97 :) im glad!!

  • hehe " the baby finger " I call it " the pinky " lol

    thats a beautiful horse. :)

but I have to say it; those reins are pretty tight, they should be more loose.

  • @horsesforever44

I'm sure they know what they're doing with the reins more than us, it depends on the horse.

  • STOP HOLDING THE REINS SO TIGHT! She does it every time and the tearcher lady isn't even correcting it.

  • @horsesforever44 but depends on how that horse is acting and behaviour on how tight they u hold the reins but u dont want then too tight either u just want a nice straight line maybe more if u have a well behaved horse

  • @xena307 no no no you will have a hard mouthed horse if you have your reins that tight all the time and then you will have probms controlling the animal do you know about colloecting the horse up and shortening their strides and outlines because if you try achieving an outline like this say good bye to your bit and say hello to a bit less bridle or a new "stronger" bit because you will need one if this is how you ride

  • I ride a six year old, and I can't hold my reins this close together. I have to spread them apart about my shoulders width apart, to keep in a good responsive headset and a tidy appearance. Do you think as he learns more that I will be able to keep my hands in this postition they show in th video?

  • stop holding them to tight

  • those reins were being held to tight. i bet the at horses mouth was sore.

  • that horse is bored LOL but great info!

  • omg i love ur horse cutee

  • In english your suppose to keep a close contact but you shouldn't have your reins tight that your horses head is cocked up in the air. You can see that she's constenlly pulling on his mouth.. This horse is ridden all off mouth. and it should be all off leg and your saddle seat

  • @knicholson1993 not true!

  • very helpfull!!!thnks!!:):)

  • "hold it like a gameboy......" seriously??? .... Or liek a steering wheel?

  • These are really good videos

  • this has really helped me thanks

  • FFFAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLL

  • One good thing to know is to nt mind the hands so much before you know you have the elbows and shoulders right. If you have the top part of your arms wrong and correct only the hands, you'll have to continue onto correcting the shoulders and the elbows and then your hands will be all wrong again. But if you correct your seat, chest, shoulder and elbow - in that order - chance is your hands has already corrected themselves.

  • i dont like how they keep the reins so tight it annoys me i ride western so i guess its just me but they keep the reins so tight its like they are gonna rip the horses' mouth sheesh man loosen up for gosh sake

  • @Castro543 ugh, in these videos they do that and it annoys me too. I ride both western and English, but primarily English and I never have my reins this tight!

  • my dressage instructor is very picky when it comes to how your hands are postitioned lol if you let them go slack she makes you work even harder

  • Right, I know never to even try to pull back, even the slightest bit, or else I get it, badly.

  • Great video I know this will help lots of people. and haha strange, my instructor always talked about how ur pinky should be. But, this is good 2.

  • i have been riding western and am now starting enlish pleasure and hunter .... thanks for the info!

  • this made alot of sence, thanks!

  • @suchandidiot94 ok this isn't just you but A LOT is TWO WORDS! not one! LOOK IT UP!

  • thank you this has been very helpful to me. as a beginer in english
