It was intentional. You have to watch the whole clip. The catcher stands and puts his left arm out at the end, as the last pitch is being delivered. They had started pitching to him, but when the man on first took second base (on a steal, I think, though it oculd have been on that wild pitch) they had first base open so they put Matsui on and pitched to Shelley Duncan instead, who popped out to end the inning.
