@Magician2256 Make a stockpile set to Stone, but you should limit it to Metal Ore. Leave most rocks where they are, because moving all of them somewhere else will take far too long and nothing else would get done. Them's the breaks of living in a mine. :P However, you can build a Craftsdwarf's Workshop in an area that you want cleared and if you have a stonecrafter he will take the closest rock and create art objects out of them (by queuing the workshop), which you can then use to trade with.
Okay, I know this video is kindof old but it might help somebody.
When you create a stockpile, the default settings for it will choose a Max N° of Barrels and Bins depending on the amount of tiles its covering, so if you make a Food stockpile you can prevent dwarves from using all your barrels for food if you change the max n° of barrels for that stockpile, so they will stop filling it with barrels and leave the rest for you to make drinks.
I've started on a new fortress instead of the play-along here. I do follow your instructions and it provides a great assistance I never knew before.
I find myself in the problem that I can't seem to collect wood, in the character profession screen before I set two dwarfes to be 8/8 on mining and woodcutting, I have axes but they still ignore the trees. What have my perceptive eye missed this time?
@William1V1Eklund Are they set correctly under labors? ( v, p, l, woodworking, wood cutting) Did you designate what trees to cut? Are you designating areas for them to mine also?

I need help, i said for some dwarfs to mine out the underground area but there not doing anything, help\
MonkNSalty 1 year ago
@MonkNSalty Make sure you designated a staircase on both levels if you're digging underground. Dwarfs can only mine areas they can get to.

Hey upingu how do i get the nice clean looking version because i got the one with all the charaters and stuff and it really confuses me
JVBKing 1 year ago
@MonkNSalty 1.Make a downward stairway
2.When its finished, go down 1 level with ">" and designate an up/down stairway right under the downward stairway
3.When the up/down stairway is done, you can dig whatever you want

@oneasmany It depends on the number of seeds that you have. You can get more seeds after every harvest or when your dwarfs eat/brew the produce.
