  • thats my teacher!!! :D

  • Very, very well played. This is my latest project, I've only just started learning it and it's always good to have a reference to listen to when practicing, to have an idea of what it's supposed to sound like. Great work and a great song.

  • Beautifully and sensitively played. Many guitarists play this piece too fast. The allemande was a dance with a moderate tempo, rather stately. "In his Musikalisches Lexicon (Leipzig, 1732), Johann Gottfried Walther wrote that the allemande 'must be composed and likewise danced in a grave and ceremonious manner.'" -- Wikipedia

    the word of gord

  • Very moving - your work brings a beautiful echo from the past to life again! This was originally for the lute?

  • Thanks. Yes, This piece was originally written for the Lute. Robert Johnson wrote many pieces for that instrument. He was well known and regarded as a leading Lute player and composer. If you go to Wikipedia and enter Robert Johnson lute player you will get a brief biography of him and a list of some of his compositions.

  • Though, you play it beautifully on a guitar. I am seeing the connections - Once I happened by a music store, trying on a keyboard a string part played by Steve Howe - on a Lute! (YES's Wonderous Stories). I could not recall well, and had played several descending chords, trying to find the right notes - with variations. Chris Martin picked this up, and it became Clocks! Which, much to my surprise, found its way back to string insrutuments..! I will check on R.Johnson. Thanks again.

  • Robert Johnson II - composed music for England's James I & Shakespear! Quite amazing - so that places him well in the realm of history to which we are all familiar..

  • Beautiful! It's possible to rank with 5stars even though it might not be the worlds most difficult guitar piece! 5stars for it's flowing beauty...

  • Thank you svinland for your comment. It is indeed a great little piece.

  • very nice fingering !.. 3rd string is in Fa# ??

  • No. Just regular tunning.
