  • I would love to see the taco meter dancing

  • 13b was 1.3 liters dude. Where else you thing the 13 comes from ?

  • @speedphlux

2.616 cc, 2.6 litres... WIKIPEDIA DOCET!

  • @Droidrevenge "The 13B is the most widely produced engine. It was the basis for all future Mazda Wankel engines, and was produced for over 30 years. The 13B has no relation to the 13A. Instead, it is a lengthened version of the 12A, having 80 mm (3.1 in) thick rotors. Each rotor had a displacement of 654 cc, for a total of 1308 cc displacement in the engine."

  • @speedphlux this car has the R26B engine, 4 rotors, 654cc each, so...

    Understand?

  • @Droidrevenge Dude, did you saw what engine I was talking about ?! Just STFU and go to sleep.

  • @speedphlux this is not a chat buddy... not all conversations could be seen.

    close question!

    Good night baby...

  • its hungry feed it prius

  • ESSE MOTOR TEM UM RPM MUITO BAIXO.

  • just so you know... wankel rotary is an engine where the crank shaft is directly in the middle of an egg shaped engine, and pins on the interior walls of it compress and turn the shaft :)

  • Naturally aspirated, 11k+ rpms, EFI IDA's, 9.7:1 compression ratio. All that adds up to 700+ whp. Now tell me what fuckin piston engine that can pull that off with just 2.6 liters? Anyone want to volenteer?

  • @pdpdrummerboi i volunteer that its not 2.6L and its a quad rotor, so suggest its closer to double that.

  • @lynel1985 Not 2.6 litres? What is the displacement then? Ive only known quads to be 2.6 litre engines. I could be wrong though. lol!

  • @pdpdrummerboi 2.6L is the given displacement for a 13b. which has 2 rotors. this is a quad rotor. the 20b cosmo triple rotor is 3.0 or 3.2L from memory. So i dont know what the quadrotor in this thing is, its bloody awesome but i would say its at least 4.0L

  • @pdpdrummerboi Yep, I will....Try current formula 1 2.4L V8s....they make 755HP ;)

  • @04gtstang But compared to our engines what RPM does that 2.4L have to spin to make that 755 rwhp mate?

  • @pdpdrummerboi I thought rotaries where know for their high RPM? But honestly im not sure how high the 787B engine revs....the formula 2.4 V8s spin to 18,000 RPM or so (rule limits). Also its prob closer to 700RWHP....but only one team released that its V8 made around 755HP(flywheel). Ofcourse its underrated as they dont want anyone else knowing exact number...very secretive sport with HEAVY restrictions. They could pull 1K RWHP with the material and RPM limits removed. Spin em to 25-30K.

  • @04gtstang It revs up to 9-10k rpms

  • I love this car and his engine......

  • 700 hp and no turbo, imagine a turbo to and you have = epic

  • @Raptorx007 hard enough to keep on the road with 700hp, never mind 2 billion.. rotary's LOVE turbos :P

  • @Raptorx007 it would be 840bhpd

  • @mairytg Yup, that would be a Wankel.

  • i wanna see the variable length telescopic intake runners

  • All RX7 owners should warm-up like that !

  • thats what she said.

  • Fuck, this thing sounds SO AWESOME

  • I`m gonna play with myself right.....NOW!

  • they were capable of 950 hp which is more than it weighed

  • @macm2651 How much hp did it weigh?

  • @65DDTG wow not even smart enough to differentiate 2 different figures although im assuming if youre smart enough to use sarcasm then you know what i meant.

  • @macm2651 No shit.

  • @65DDTG it weighs just ober 1800 pounds

  • @65DDTG *over

  • I just nutted :)

  • Thumbs up if you got a hard-on after hearing this

  • give me a good 4000 or 8000 steady and ill be hard

  • just let it idle you fucker

  • ???????????/

  • Most believed Mazda when they quoted 690hp @9000rpm - but it was rumoured that it would happily rev to 10,500-11,000rpm and at that rpm it made 930+hp...!!!!

  • 26b beautiful sound such a perfect engine they banned them in the 787B's class such a chame

  • Hmmmm, I can smell the burning oil.. Addictive.

  • Volker Weidler (co-driver at Le Mans in 91") had to retire from racing the folling year 'cause he was losing his hearing- from spending long hours in the cockpit of that loud-as-hell rotary. . .

  • Whats the CC on these engines? :o

  • 2600

  • @booya257

Well your standard 4 rotors have like 2 liters or 1.3 liters. This one has just been beefed up alot more

  • @Lennholm89 Standard 4 Rotors? There's no such thing, a 4 rotor engine has never been released in a production car. The engine in this is the 26B, 2.6l 4 Rotor, the production rotary car engines from Mazda are mostly 2 rotor engines with between 1l (in the old Cosmo) to 1.3l (the most common 2 rotor engine), the last Cosmos did get a 3 Rotor 2l engine though.

Even so most motorsport rules class a rotary at twice the factory capacity.

  • this is a lovely sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Such an amazing sound. You can hear the full ports on it.

  • @lotanerve thats what i tell your mom

  • Don't get it!!!

  • @lotanerve NEITHER DO I ... JUST FELT LIKE TELLING SOMEONE THAT LOL

  • omg i love the 787b engine sound..never get tired of it.

  • Just for that I know of. There have been some mock up 6 or 8-rotors, but just more as a joke IIRC. The problem with that long of a setup would be the e-shaft.

  • you gotta love that sound its orgasmic

  • Wankel Rotary Engines don't use cylinders. they use Rotors.

  • ok, you know what i ment:))

  • what's the max of rotors ever used in an engine for a car ?

  • 4 so far, as i know of....

  • it has no cylinders just 4 rotors.......

  • thank you, Dr. Felix Wankel!

  • no pistons

    no valves

    no problems..

  • Just apex seals. If we could perfect those then it would be perfect.

  • @kladivous : And the amount of oil they go through lol. Still, fantastic cars to drive with rotaries! Look forward to see how the new generation performs!

  • Too bad they're phasing this engine out for a *cough* 4 cylinder

  • This was a P1 class. The 4 cylinder MZR Mazda is a P2. Totally different class.

  • The Best Le Mans 24 Hour Race Car List

    1-Mazda 787B

    2-Minolta Toyota 88c-V

    3-Sauber Mercedez

    4-Toyota Gt one

    5-Dodge Viper Gts Team oreca

    6-Ford Gt 40

    7-Mazda Furai

  • Haha you just pulled those cars from gran turismo except the Furai, but it would be nice to see some old school Group-C action

  • And somehow managed to leave out the Porsche 917 and 956/962...

  • i could listen to that while i´m slepping

  • this engine is FURIOUS **GRR LET ME GO** !!!

  • 515 kW (700 hp) @ 9.000 rpm's out of

    2.6 ltr. combustion chamber volume.

    Natural aspirated !

    awesome !!!

  • Staggering...

  • Il rumore degli angeli..

  • in assoluto la miglior musica nel mondo dei motori

  • 700hp right there, no turbo.....take note kids!!!

  • No pistons or cylinders either! Amazing things, rotary engines...

  • @DoomiteAsh actually they have? one big cylinder with one piston shaped like a triangle...:P

  • aparantly it could make over 900hp but the slightly de-tuned it so it would cope with the 24hours of Le Mans

  • its so efficient

  • @racecardriver467 I thought it was 900....

  • @racecardriver467 apparently down-tuned from around 900 for longevity. Awesome bit of kit

  • @racecardriver467 if you wanf a car that has 700 horses than watch this video type in gt500 super snake and its the first video.

  • @ShelbyGT500TT No one cares about your faggot GT500 that's only useful for stupid 1/4 mile passes. Sure, it pushes out 700hp, that's not very surprising from a massive V8. This on the other hand is naturally aspirated, a 4-rotor, and makes 700hp. That's just incredible.

  • @SubaruRacer171 you know what. YOU! can go suck a dick this fucking car isnt even street legal! dumbass!!! this isnt a car you can just go out and buy!!! the gt500 you can!!!!!!!. do us all a favor and unplug your fucking computer.!! and while your at it go fuck yourself!!!!!!!! bitch!!!!

  • @ShelbyGT500TT Easy on the language there. It makes you seem childish. And yes, this car is obviously not street legal. I just hate it when someone is biased towards one manufacture/country and stereotypes other cars. Besides, why are you watching this if you are mis-informed on rotaries and post a stupid comment that only makes you look like an idiot?

  • @ShelbyGT500TT Besides, you need to learn to give respect where it's deserved. And rotaries deserve a lot of respect.

  • @racecardriver467 yes it is but did u know it was detuned cause they where afraid of reliability it actually makes 930 hp but was detuned lol awesomeness from a n/a motor

  • @racecardriver467 haha, your so right :D

  • nice sound engine

  • amazing

  • PERFECT VIDEO

  • its a 23b right?

  • 26b

  • thx! ^^

  • I think it wants to be in a band.

  • great engine

  • Kickass engine sound 8-)

  • this is my ABSOLUTE favorite car ever lol such beautiful craftsmanship whoever made it is GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 stars!!

  • der hängt am Gas

  • いい音だねぇ。

  • 787b is non turbo, naturally aspirated

  • nice power

  • nella playstation 2 nel gioco gran turismo 3 ero sempre primo con la 787B

  • What are they doing? Just warming up?

  • yup

  • wankel engines

  • Whoever thinks the FXX is faster around a track is freaking retarded, completely different cars!

  • is there an actual point behind the short multiple constant throttle blips hes doing its not the first vid ive noticed this in

  • Yeh, that's how they warm up the rotary engine

  • the guys who compare the fxx to this, should turn into a gay priest...stay gay losers

  • You guys are fucking idiots, the 787B is a Le Mans race car, and you're comparing it to a Ferrari road car?

  • wub wub wub wub wub wub wub wub wub.... i love it.

  • 787b for shure its lighter but i think that the fxx would give it a run because that thing is a rocket in a straight line

  • The Raced out FXX or one of the few production ones? I Think the 787 will win cause it's lighter, lower and stronger

  • The 787B. The 787 is actually fast enough to beat an Audi R10.

  • Any idea on Torque specs? I'm having a hellofa time finding them. When you consider turbo lag, weight, and large wheels, Yeah this can probably beat the R10 (with a fresh set of rubbers of course.)

  • I think it's like 6 or 700 ft lbs. Then again, it's been a long time since I've seen any specs as far as that goes. Might Google or Ask it.

  • It can't be that much. I was thinking in the 4-500 range. Then again with that variable intake length? Amazing nonetheless. I hope some day the rev it out like they do in F1 by hitting WOT

  • What valves?

  • From the Mazda Motor Museum website, the engine has a maximum output of 930 hp, and a maximum redline of 10,500rpms. This setup was not used during racing for reliability; gearboxes at that time could not handle such a high redline in an endurance application.

no have valve, no have stroke, have 4 intake & 4 exhaust, have 4 step like 4 stroke engine but just in 1 spin 360 degree. 1 rotor have 3 side, mean is 3 cylinder inline if compare with piston engine; R26B have 4 rotor, you can calculate?

  • 3+3+3+3=12/4=3 I never thought about finding the average. Shit.

  • 930 hp from normally aspirated 2616cc, and some parts same with 13B, with reliability more than piston engine @ the same year; its difficult to think its not just an FANTASY ...

  • this was n/a no turbo

  • I was talking about the Audi R10 TDI (diesel w/turbo) versus this. Yeah I thought about and came to a conclusion. This will beat any production car abound any track (except a loop) and should out accelerate the R10 off the line. Then the R10 will take over until the driver slows down cause he'd like to hear this thing scream. I wish Mazda would rev this thing to 20,000.

  • no buddy, is the spec:

-1990 787 specification are in brackets

    -Body construction: Kevlar/carbonfibre composite

-Brakes: Carbon Industries outboard ventilated 14-inch (360 mm) carbon discs and callipers (Brembo steel)

-Engine: Mazda R26B 2616 cc 4-rotor naturally aspirated, Mid-engined, longitudinally mounted.

    -Spark plugs: 3 per rotor

    -Maximum Power: 700 hp (520 kW)/9000 rpm

    -Maximum Torque: 448 ft·lbf (607 N·m)/6500 rpm

  • We're assessing competition here. Audi R10TDI vs. a "normal" FXX(what kind of FXX is normal?) Versus the 787. The race sould start like in formula one. Think about it. Apples to Potatoes comparison there. With New compound tires, I think this car would give the other two a good run. The R10TDI is turbocharged, so I don't know how launchable it is. Now around the track the R10 will take it, The FXX will be at the back of the pack.

  • Owh...FXX goes to le mans 24h?

"The race sould start like in formula one" or race like F1? so R26B can using max 2616cc normally aspirated 930hp @ the year 90 (some part is same with mass production), or (i wish they made it) R26B RENESIS direct injection hydrogen or wait R32X direct injection from RENESIS2 with more torque (16X RENESIS2 has been tested for replace 13B RENESIS; source mazda website...would you like choose? difficult decision but i like rotary powered H2O + little fuel :)

  • No, My idea to test the design would just be to make one out of the Best Materials available today, with a Fresh Ignition system.

  • i just dont get tierd of that noise it beautiful

  • trying reving anything like this and see what happens to your car lol

  • OK it doesn't sound like FXX nor like Porsche, maybe like civic, a small one a 1,3 injection.

    Comon just kidding hahaha

  • You gotta be kidding me... Porsche has boxster, opposed piston engines, which have specific sound compared even to ordinary inline piston engine. Every different variant of displacement so every type of engine (rotary, V-displacement, opposite displacement, inline etc.) have their unique sound. Wankel however has more ripping and metally sound and the technique used in these engines is not comparable to piston engines. In piston engine you get 100 movable parts, in rotary only three per rotor.

  • sounds as an FXX

  • wtf??!! that's maybe the most stupid comment to an engine-sound that i've read so far... a PP-4-rotor wankel rotary-engine sounds COMPLETELY different to a V12... that's like comparing the sound of a civic to a viper! yeah, you certanly have to listen better to those engines...

  • aargh it annoys me when people say this car was banned. It wasn't banned, Group C rules were changed at the end of 1991, meaning that anything that didn't have an 3.5l F1-type engine couldn't race. The car didn't have any advantage, it wasn't ever the quickest car. Infact it was VERY slow everywhere appart from Le Mans. Still, I bloody love it!!

  • Hi Alex....when ya gonna release Prototype C for rFactor????

  • finally, i found one good comment. Everything you said is true.

  • ugh i love this car, except the way it sounds,

sounds like a blender hurts my ears

  • Il y en a, qui ne devraiaient pas avoir le doit d'avoir un caméa vidéo entre les mains, ils sont statiques comme un club de golf.

    Shame on you, mouve, dude

  • too bad the closest some of will ever get to this car is gran turismo

  • lol, so true

  • @ solrace8791 i agree. I love the noise it makes and it would be awsome if Polyphony Digital did do that. make it alot better!

  • Then it would be nice if they added car damage to their games like Forza had from it's original game. Unfortunately this car didn't make it into either game. Although the 20b did.

  • huhh it does appear in GT4 .. :O

  • forza 1 or 2

  • Oh my bad.. thought u talked about GT4 and Forza ;)

  • its like an angelic chorus... i wanna drive this car now.. lol... rotary FTW!

  • Rotary FTW!

The "breathing" you hear is another car warming up. If you go to the end of the clip (2:30), you'll be able to notice it really well.

  • This car sounds amazing in Enthusia for PS2 but sounds nothing like it in Gran Turismo. I really hope they fix all the engine sounds in the next GT game because that's been my major gripe with the series. Does anyone else agree?

  • hell ya that shit pisses me off

  • I agree. I have gt3 and gt4, both great games but some of the sound effects let it down. Some of them sound pretty realistic but in the game the Sauber C9 and the toyota GT1 sound the same. when in real life they sure ain't.

  • I like forza for xbox ALOT better....are engines are actual recordings and you can also do motor swaps and the engine will sound just like it should

  • Thank you for mentioning Forza. Amen. This car on forza would be awesome through my 5.1.

  • what's that 'breathing' noise i hear in between the revs? it can't be the intake, just isn't timed with it? just the cameraman breathing too heavily?

  • kinda annoying...

  • Braap Braap Braap

  • winning this car in GT3 was my hero, it was Da-bomb friggin amazing performance, and now to see and hear the actual motor it all makes sense why the 787b carried me to finnish the game to 99.5% complete...Nice

  • The car is quiet historic as in 1991 it was the first non-american / european car to win the 24 hour Le Mans Endurance Race.

To put it roughly, the engine is based of a 13B rotary with an extra rotor at each end. you can purchase / get a similar engine made that is two 13b combined if you have enough cash, this is what scoot did with the Scoot RX-7.

  • Pretty sure it was actually two 12A's

  • ok, just cause people are saying a heap of weird random things on here.

first of all then engine is a R26B Wankel Rotary Engine. It makes 700hp or 522kw at 9000rpm.

Secondaly, the car is the 787B mazda as it states in the title and it was banned **along with all other wankel rotary's* not due to its "crap efficiency", but because of the unfair weight advantage it had over the other cars in the field.

  • you have to remember this is not a normal road running car, you do not run it in for several hundred miles and then get an oil change and a general inspection, the lumps are built tested and fitted. The constant revving constanly changes the velocity on moving parts it helps them size up better before they are pushed to their limit. Hence why the run in precedure always tells you never to hold it at constant revs.

  • that thing sounds AWSOME.. it was bended becasue of the power, and weight raito, and! it guzzled GAS

  • that wasnt banned, and fuel consumption was little bit better than other in group C

  • Wouldn't it warm up faster if they just held it at a steady RPM?

  • It won't warm up evenly and then seize.

  • making all that power at all those rpms you'd think it would warm up faster than this...lol<3

  • The 787b might even rev faster than a F1 car from this season. I like how he barely blips the throttle and still the rpm's shoot up like crazy.

I see this kind of warming up style on older 2 stroke racing bikes.

This car was so ahead of his time. Variabele intake length, c/f brakes and a damn awesome engine. The engine was said to make 930 hp at 10300 rpm.

  • Err, no. F1 cars still rev to 18k easily.

  • i think it was banned cuz of unfair weight effiencey...
