Quite good singing and wonderful acting from her, but he is not believable, too much violence.

However this is my 3rd favourite traviata, after Callas (in the past) and Gheorghiu (I have the DVD and it's the first I saw so I am used to it).

He wouldn't be that violent with everyone watching, it's not believable. Possibly if they were alone but still I don't see Violetta just lying there having money shoved in her mouth without putting up some kind of resistance.

Me encanta la pareja que hacen Villazón y Netrebko, transmiten los sentimientos por medio de sus privilegiadas voces. Hacen de esta ópera una delicia. Son la máximo!!!!!

C'est la première mise en scène ou je vois Alfredo faire bouffer ses biffetons à Violetta, rien que ça ! Mais bon ils ont quand même une sacré présence, sans parler de l'interprétation.

E' irritante. Per quanto mi sforzi di appuntare una critica ai limiti tecnici di entrambi, non posso fare a meno di pensare che questa sia la migliore Traviata di sempre. E Villazon non è Di Stefano, e la Netrebko non è la Callas.

Subtlety isn't the goal. Alfredo is taking out all his anger and sadness out on Violetta....I don't think he would make it very slight.
