@apemanking325... which sako? I would assume your talking about the a7 since they are the closest price wise. I own both and I prefer the feel and look of the sako better. they shoot exactly the same.
@monsterman27 The one on my rifle in the video is from Roedale Precision in Germany. I ordered it direct from them. Took 3 weeks to get it. CDI now makes bottom metal for the TIkka's and uses AI mags. Do a search for either companies and you will find them.
@monsterman27 Roedale or Hinterland makes bolt shrouds. You can get the Hinterland one on ebay. They are from Australia but PayPal will handle the currency conversion for you. Also...KRG carries the Hinterland shroud here in the States. Do a search.
Nice rifle. I really like my lite stainless 270WSM. Are you sure Mc Millan is making a stock for the T3? If true that is great news. Does that bottom metal kit have a 5-round magazine option? I would need that for legal big game hunting here. My rig shoots OK, but does not perform as well as I had hoped - even with many different combos of factory and handloads. Will probably spring for a match grade barrel next. Nice video.
@flightlevel66 Thank you. Yes. McMillan is inletting for the Tikka T3 actions. In .223 the only option with the AI magazines is the 10 rounder. In other calibers....22-250,.243,.308,etc.....you can get 5 rounders. I just built a 1000 yard rifle based on the Tikka action in one of the KRG Whiskey 3 chassis. Chambered for 6.5x47 so be watching for my video review of it soon.
@BgBamBoo I emailed McMillan, and in fact they are inletting for the T3. I did ask them if I needed bottom metal, and what they recommend, however they did not answer that part of my question. Are there any manufacturers that are making bottom metal (or polymer) that allow the use of the factory mags? Thanks for your help.
@BgBamBoo Did you have to cut the existing plastic, the molded in bottom area to replace it with the aftermarket ? I looked at my stock and the trigger guard and area around the mag looks like it is all one with the rest of the stock.
@flightlevel66 I would NOT use the factory bottom "metal" (plastic) when upgrading the stock. Contact Peter Lincoln at Roedale Precision. He makes a replacement bottom metal that allows you to use the factory mags.
I've been debating for months between a Tikka T3 Lite or T/C Venture for a new 308 rifle. I love the bolt and 5r rifling of the Venture and I really want to like it, but I think this video sold me on a Tikka. Aftermarket support means a lot to me. Thanks!
@iviaverick52 I would recommend the Tikka. I am involved with a gun shop that we just opened and we are going to be specializing in Tikka's. In fact you might want to subscribe to my channel. We just built me a new 1000 yard rifle using a Tikka action, Kreiger barrel, and KRG Whiskey 3 chassis. It is chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua. I will be doing a video review and posting it here soon so keep and eye out. Take care
@kravanamjesecu Good deal. Tell Pete that I (Stan) sent you. Oh....and he LOVES beef jerky. Send him a bag of it and you will REALLY be on his good side. Take care
@Igoman1984 Hello. "kick" aka recoil is very subjective and will be perceived differently from shooter to shooter. A .243 to me have almost no recoil. You can always install a muzzle brake and with a brake the .243 feels like a .22 (to me). Take care
@Igoman1984 i have a tikka t3 lite in .243, im just now 15 122 lbs 5' 8", and i love it. the guns super light, hardly has any kick at all plus the groups are phenominal, at 100 yds your sending your shots down the same hole every time.. i dropped mine a few times coming down a wet mountain side and ive never had any problems with it.. hope this helps!
@Igoman1984 a little late probly bu i feel the same way as the author of the vid a .243 is not bad at all there a fun gun to shoot but then again im used to a 30-06
@Igoman1984 yea it vearys with everyone i have one in 223 and it shooting great kick alright take it out do heaps of wallbie shooting it is a meanly acurate tak driver
hi there im concidering doing this to my rifle but would like to know if you can still use the original magizine that comes with the tikka?? could you also give me his details
im gonna by that rodale rms system too..must have if you have a magazine feeded rifle, like a basic howa&reminton...detachable magazine is just so much easier..
Hey mate. I just installed the same bottom metal for my .308 T3 but the magazines sit too far back for the bolt to slide a new round into the chamber, is there a nack to putting the bottom metal in?
@ChrisDog000 Hello. Did you replace the bolt stop? Pete sends a replacement bolt stop that allows the bolt to travel back a bit further then the stock one. If not then you will need to modify your bolt stop. It comes out very easily. Remove action from stock and you will see the pin that keeps it in place. Be careful not to lose the spring. Remove a bit of materiel with a file or Dremal until the bolt travels back enough to pick up the round out of the mag. Hope this helps.
@BgBamBoo Hey mate. Thanks for the help and yes I did. I contacted Roedale and they told me. I was initially confused as to why they included a spare bolt stop but now I know. Very happy with the roedale bottom metal. Enjoy your tikka!
@michailtikkacoetzee Hello. Mine was expensive but at the time there was a long wait and so I could not have got it any cheaper. You can buy the bottom metal from many sites, I got mine from roedale precision. CDI also sells bottom metal. And Alutek. As for magazines, I bought C-Products from a USA website. Happy with them, they seem strong. Although a little tight to fit at first once they wear in they are good as gold. Definately worth every dollar.
@michailtikkacoetzee One more thing if your in Aus you have to get a permit to import any magazines, and they have to be no more then 10 rounds. You can contact your local firearms branch they will help you out.
@ChrisDog000 thanks for that did you do a cammo paint jop on ur 308 sorry for the random question but saw someone at the range with the same modification uve made and there rifle is also a tikka 308
@ChrisDog000 i saw it at the range las week saturday when we were doing the shoot on the south african antelope and u were talking about the mod you made and then you were telling us about ur swarovski scope
@ChrisDog000 yer should be there im in the process of getting my rifle just need to take pics of the safe bolted in and hand the forms in and then i can pick mine up. my rifle is a tikka t3 hunter 223 in case ur wondering who i am i was the kid who was there shooting im 13 and my name is michael
what calibre would you recomend. 223 or 243 please help!! im stuck choosing between the two and it is a tikka t3 hunter (both) not sure which one to choos
@michailtikkacoetzee What do you plan to use the rifle for? .223 will be cheaper to shoot and with the 1:8 twist barrel give you the ability to shoot a very wide range of bullet weights. If you plan on hunting deer, then the .243 would be the better choice. Both calibers are great for varmint hunting. Take care,Stan
Just wandering, Im getting a EGW scope base like yours except the one Im looking at is 0 MOA "for 100 to 400yrd shooting" and the 20 MOA is "for 700 to 1000yrd shooting"...Does it really matter? I guess not because you got the 20 MOA.
@Calum041095 It will depend on your scope and how much internal elevation adjustment it has. The Bushnell 6500 I have on this rifle has 80 moa of adjustment . Having a canted base (20moa,etc.) also helps keep the reticle closer to being centered. I really see no reason NOT to get a 20 moa rail. Even if you don't "need" it it is better to have then not to have it. Take care,Stan
@BgBamBoo OK thanks, the 0 and 20 are both the same price and my scopes 4-16x44, what do you reckon go with the 20? I won't be doing any serious long range stuff.
@michailtikkacoetzee There are a couple of places to get bottom metal...CDI here in the states and Roedale Precision in Germany. Cost is around $200. Pretty easy to install yourself. Makes for a much nicer magazine set up. Take care,Stan
Did any of the modifications to the bolt increase your accuracy? because i am looking to buy a tikka t3 and i dont want to have to replace it. Was the accuracy good enough before you upgraded?
@MrBobsrevenge Hello Mr. Bob! I have no firsthand experience with the Scout. But I have yet to see a Tikka that did not shoot well. I have owned three...a Tactical model in .308, a .243 Lite and my current .223 Lite. Two of my friends own them as well. ALL of them have been shooters. I like the looks of the Scout and would not be afraid to pick one up. If you get one, let me know how it shoots. Take care,Stan
@BgBamBoo Thank your for the info. I was eaither going to get a scout, tactical, or a kimber tactical. If i get one it will be this summer because thats when i get my job. Thanks.
@MrBobsrevenge I would put a tactical model Tikka against any other tactical model in the same caliber shot for shot. I have owned the Tikka Tactical in .308. I also owned a Sako TRG-22 at the same time. The Tikka would out shoot the TRG-22...not by a lot, but it was there. The M24 is a FACTORY built rifle...just like any other factory built rifle. Same strengths and weakness. Look at my other videos...I own one or two top end rifles...my Tikka will hold its own with them.
I heard that if you have a .223 of this you can buy the next mag size up to eliminate the problem you can get with hand loads not feeding to well. is this true?
@jitzero NO...it will not work. The feed lips for the .223 case are much narrower then the "M" size magazines which are made for the .308,243,22-250,etc., size cases. The .223 will just pop right out. Take care,Stan
how would i go with intsalling one of those trigger guards so i can fit the a.i. magazine in on my tikka t3 hunter with an american walnut stock? would it work without doing anything to the stock or would i have to do some ajustments to the magwell to beable to fit the new trigger guard in?
@JACF7427 Any of the stocks will need to be inletted to accommodate the new bottom metal. CDI will do it for a modest fee if you ship the stock to them. I did mine myself...a mill will makes things easier but it can be done with a Dremel and file. Take care,Stan
Nice additions by roedale mate, love the oversized bolt knob, very practical for quick reloading, im due to order one of petes new moderators he's made recently with removable baffles, it will turn my ruger m77 hawkeye .243 into a seriously smooth operator! Great rifle again!
hey im 16 about 5'10, 230lbs i have never shot a firearm b4. i am looking to buy a new rifle for deer and turkey hunting.after my research i have came upon the tc venture 270 which i love but now i am looking for info on the rem700 and tikka because they are in my price range of under 500. i am determined to get a 270 because i want to grow into it and have alot of power but i am a lil worried about kick. i was wondering which of the 3 rifles was the best for the money and about kick.
@TheAirsoftbeast22 Hello. "KICK" aka recoil is very subjective. I am 6'2" 210 and can shoot pretty much anything up to a 30-06 or 12ga and it does not bother me. That being said, I do not like recoil. So I use muzzle brakes on most of my rifles. This allows me to spot my own shots, faster follow up,etc. Also, proper shooting form makes a big difference in how the rifle transfers recoil to your body. The .270 is a good all around round. And the recoil should not be to bad for you.
@470capstick Thank you! I just thought it would help the folks who really like the Tikka's but thought there was minimal aftermarket products. Take care
@apemanking325... which sako? I would assume your talking about the a7 since they are the closest price wise. I own both and I prefer the feel and look of the sako better. they shoot exactly the same.

how would i go with intsalling one of those trigger guards so i can fit the a.i. magazine in on my tikka t3 hunter with an american walnut stock? would it work without doing anything to the stock or would i have to do some ajustments to the magwell to beable to fit the new trigger guard in?

Take care
