I had a big vision. the clinton surplus was all just on paper and as fake as an IRA, 401k, home ownership, savings , stock market gains, stay long term they say, just so they can steal it before you get your hands on it. Clinton was also smart enough NOT to tax the newest thing in globalization...the internet. Take the Net out of his term of economic growth and you would have seen no real change from the 80's in terms of economic/job growth.

Anyway, the Soviets tried for decades to keep up with the US technologically. That's what killed there economy and FORCED them to change their economic position in the world. I wasn't saying anything about whether or not communism was really the villainous thing it's portrayed as, nor was I saying anything about whether what happened in Russia was a huge atrocity or not. Rather, that the Soviet Union was falling apart from the inside out. This was probably partly due to the efforts of anti-communist nations, but the deal was sure as hell done before Reagan became president--it just took a little time to unfold.

It's no different from saying "our auto insurance coverage is better than theirs!" - If you can get a former President, a RECENT former President, to back you... It really boosts your chances. Hillary is probably going to lead the best campaign. It'll come down to whether or not America buys into it. I'm still undecided.
