well if i was in the movie and even though it would mess up the plot id be her bf, and its much easier for me to read japanese than listen. plus i hate to see a girl in so much pain. im a gentleman and i would not stand for it. and becides she sorta has an advantange being deaf, she could do somthing were there is alot of loud noises and normal people would have to wear headphones to block out the sound

@kojinmalia Well, what I meant is that when you go out to party and take pills to make it feel better -it doesn't guarantee that everything will be alright. Life messes you up -drugs won't make it better. I don't speak english as my first language so I don't always say things the right way.

I had seen her "dad" in another film titled Shall we dance ? ( The real one , not the shitty American remake ) and I think he is such a fine actor.

the 2 best and emotionally harder scenes of this film are when chieko walks into the club and hears nothing and when the moroccan kid walks towards the police asking to get killed in exchange for his brothers life

What a beautiful movie - so emotional, so deep... and unfortunately so truthful. Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Mohamed Akhzam were amazing. Rinko Kikuchi was special one. She should have won the Oscar that year. I still can't believe talentless Jennifer Hudson won it.

I recommend this brilliant film to everyone

I empathized with her character the most. The loss of her mom and all the questions I'm sure she had on her mind about her mother's death.

Do you know if her mother shot herself or jumped? The whole story is sorta chain linked to that riffle her father gave to the village man.

Chieko is kinda like my female counterpart. I'm not mute like this character is in the movie though i have CP and i guess this combined with my lack of confidence may be the reason for the fact that as far as I kan rekall I've never even felt a girl's like against mine.
