Kahn lacked one thing vital to space combat: experience. Kahn had almost no experience with it, while Vader had spent from 8 years old fighting in a cockpit and with massive star ships. Vader could have used the force to lower the shields on defiant then blasted the chrap out of it. However, Kahn did have one thing going for him that Vader didn't: superior intellect.
Kirk on the Genesis Experiment: "Instead of the Death Star, a living breathing planet now exists, capable of supporting whatever lifeforms we see fit to deposit on it."
As we all agree(because the facts are spoken or shown on screen & to say otherwise would be 'denial'), Vader could 'Force'-strangle Khan thru' space from a short distance . Yes, Khan IS of a superior mind & could very well probably withstand 'Jedi mind tricks'. But the Force can MOVE things. If Khan had been at the General's meeting concerning the missing D-S Plans, & if HE had taunted Vader, Khan STILL would have suffered from strangulation. If Vader had not obeyed Tarkin, Khan would die!
*ahrm*, sorry, it's KHHHAAAAANNNN!!!!! He ruled half of Earth! He created a planet from a nebula! He almost killed Kirk (shame he didn't...) twice! He don't need no dinky mitochlorians to blow up a Death Star!
Hehe, couldn't help but notice that the Death Star fires it's Super Laser and all it manages to do is knock off one of the Reliant's nacelles. Man, you build a gigantic badass super death station apparently capable of destroying planets only to discover the contractors screwed you on the big gun.
"TOO LATE!" and then was something which looked like a photon torpedo LOL
Khan is too good for Darth Vader :). Darth Vader is way too 1Dimensional, at least Khan is 2Dimensional in thinking, a bit even 3Dimensional, Darth Vader just goes straight on
BTW a criticism:you made a mistake, in one place the place they entered was an asteroid in the other it was a nebula ...
Misinterpretation of dialogue, whether willfully or not is hard to say.
Debin's lasers were too weak, but Lasers of sufficient strength can pose a threat, References.
TNG "Loud as a Whisper"
TNG "Conundrum"
TNG "Q Who"
However it's all moot since Imperial "Lasers" are Lasers in name only, and do not operate on the principles that Trek Lasers do, and trek ones don't operate on the same principles real life ones do either, so what applies to one does not necessarily apply to the other.
not too terrible, but the death Star Superlaser was completely unnecessary, 1 regular Turbolaser shot would have vapourized any federation ship.
other problem is that the Genesis device wouldn't do jack, it only reacts with matter, so shields would block it and it wouldn't affect the DS from that distance, only reason it was such a threat to the Enterprise in TWOK was cause neither ship had their shields and were in a Nebula IE surrounded by matter.
Wouldn't work either, since those globes aren't shield gens, in ROTJ it was the Rebel capital ships that were pounding the Executor that did it.
the A-wings destroyed the globe as the shields collapsed, not before. the globe's destruction was only a sign the shields were down, not the cause.
however because the two happened almost simultaneously, has lead to the common misconception. Even among some of the EU and game writers. the Complete Locations and ILM blueprints however, say otherwise.
E. Time Travel in Trek doesn't erase things from existance, only creates an alternate universe seperate from the other.
For example, Star Trek XI takes place in an alternate Timeline, it doesn't overwrite the main continuity, this is the way ALL time travel goes.
so even IF kirk's decendent succeeded and managed to keep the Enterprise in one piece etc, from the perspective of the Empire that has conquered the Alpha quadrant nothing had changed, save for the absence of Kirk.
F. even IF Kirk's descendant makes it back to the future (No pun intended, also time travel in Trek clearly does not work the same way it does in BTTF, Abrams has explicitly said so) when they come across earth, they find it's surrounded by even stranger Alien ships, Bioships that appear to be made out of coral, the enterprise shields get drained to nothing in a heartbeat and what appear to be flaming meteors smash into the ship, destroying it.
In this new, alternate Timeline that exists separately from the one you left the empire and republic never existed, so there was nothing to stop the spread of the Yuuzhan Vong, the Wormhole connecting the two galaxies together still came to be however, and it was the Yuuzhan Vong, rather than the Galactic Empire that came through...
you would have been far better off getting conquered by the Galactic Empire than annihilated by the Yuuzhan Vong.
How could a space station that could BLOW UP A PLANET just cut off a few chunks of the "Reliant"?

@BDF5K Because a similar ship (Enterprise) survived similar attacks.

Khan is a lot smarter than Darth Vader. He could find any tactic necessary to defeat Vader's ship.

Lasers have no effect on star trek shields. At all. Reference, TNG "the Outrageous Okana"

Well, if Khan lost, Kirk would have won. All he would have to do is time warp around a star an destroy the early empire.
youngeagle14 2 years ago
not really, since he would
A. need to find out where humanity in the Star Wars galaxy originated, which not even they know.
B. go back far enough that they would be vulnerable (it was hard enough to slingshot back 300 years, let alone tens of thousands or more)
C. search for said world across the galaxy, which would take centuries.
D. commit an atrocity worse than everything the Empire has ever done combined by also destroying the peaceful republic before it ever existed.
it gets worse
