The gov't is trying to help not take over, they give you the choice to take or leave it. I sure haven't heard any plans from the republicans yet to fix things though.

@GrandArchitect3D They're not loans to begin with, ever heard of the Pell Grant? Qualifying for that depends how much you make on a job each year. As of right now if you make less than $45,000 a year you get the Pell Grant A.K.A. Financial Aid. As long as you pass your classes & maintain a decent GPA you'll get it until you obtain your Bachelor's Degree. Then after the Bachelor's part thats when you have to take loans to pay for the Graduate's Level for your Master's.
