  • What size tires on the rear?

    Are they stock rims?

  • Sounds like my 318

  • had a 332 wish i kept it have a cub not as good as the 332

  • Does it have 4WD?

  • Ia that model like from the early 80;s?

  • @viper1966

    Yes I think it's a 84 or 86.

  • diesel?

  • To hell with that plow, you need a 44 loader, for the hell of it of course

  • what engine?

  • @Erhorn300

It's am Onan 18HP gasoline opposed twin air cooled.

  • 4x4????

  • 2wd

  • my x500 plows great just like this one!

  • onan! WOOT!!

  • Great looking tires. I live on the side of a mountain and have a long and steep driveway. I have a set up for my 318 that might be even better. Turf tires, JD chains, wheel weights and 4 suit case weights over the back axle. I can plow massive snow piles going uphill. My tires never slip going up hill or down hill including on ice. For residential use I don't think there's anything a pickup can plow that I can't and my 318 is more maneuverable.

  • @pnjuncti0n it's not that big of a deal to pull that boat I have done that with a jd l130

  • Awesome. I thought you had chains on at first. I put my 318 away for the winter but I think I have an old blade around someplace, I should dig it out and have some fun.

  • What does it cost?

  • how does it do with heavy snow?

  • The tractor works good pushing heavy wet snow. The AG tires work extremely well in the forward direction. The tires have less traction in reverse so you need to be carful and not get in a position where you could get stuck.

  • Are those v-treads you are using, cause if they are i'm thinking of buying them for my gt 235 instead of using tire chains if possible.

  • Yes they are Carlisle Tru Power tires. I have had them for 4 years and they are excellent. I have used chains on turf tires and there is no comparison to the Tru Powers in the snow. They are also great for mud and wet lawns. Great hook-up power for pushing or pulling.

I leave them on year round. No more getting stuck on a wet hill or ditch.

  • i have a winch mounted on the back of mine just in case i get stuck going forward

  • willing to sell that?? lol

  • love it.

  • that is really nice that your setup has down pressure on the plow!

  • I love SNOW...LOL!

  • very nice looking tractor and sounds great

  • Great video! I don't know what I'd do without my 318. It's the only tractor I've owned has the traction and power to handle my property. I have the plow, 50 inch mower with PowerFlow bagger, mule drive and #80 yard cart. The next attachment I'm getting is a bucket loader! The power flow bagger shreds leaves and leaves my lawn spotless. The power steering is a joy. My friends and neighbors laughed when I told them I'd plow my mountainside driveway with the 318. They aren't laughing anymore!

  • Yeah my dad's 318 whines the same way, but never stops. It is a beast we've pulled a 2500lb boat with it. He's got the snowblower for the winter, it only gets happier the more snow you feed it. :)

  • @pnjuncti0n i was surprsied too when my 185 hydro could push a boat up a gravel driveway in reverse

  • ALL HYDROSTATIC drives whine. 100% all hydraulic.

Go to any Skid steer shop, they all use twin pumps and drive motors. It's all we do.

The lower the RPM, the more they whine.

  • hes killin the hydro!!!

  • your snow is like mcdonalds, am lovin it

  • no offense but you are killing that onan

  • Do you hace down pressure on that too?

  • Yes it has 2 down positions on the hydraulic lever. First position will push down with enough force to lift the front end of the tractor off of the ground. Second position is float mode. It lets the weight of the blade only to contact the ground so it will float up and down with the contour of the surface.

  • wow i actually has light refecltors on the back

    my fell off ages ago

  • Yes, I had to buy new ones from the JD dealer.

  • wow

is that hydraulicy operated or something

  • i got a 317 and i wanna get a 318 because i plow all the drives in my neighbor hood and it seems like it would be easier, thanks man great vidieo and awesome looking tractor thats on of the nicest ones i've seen so far.

  • Thanks,

Yeah it was in very bad shape when I got it. It was broke down sitting outside before I purchased it. It took me most of the summer to restore it.

  • i have an 86 318 with 556 hours, 318`s have tremendous lugging ability

  • this is awsome i got one but i got it out of the auto trader and they painted the deck green and i was going to get the shoot and its yellow but there are awsome i wanted to get the plow but i dont no where to find it plus ide rather have the snow blower its soo cool about the hydrolic deck and stuff

  • Does it have power steering?

  • Yes, Power steering, deck lift and rockshaft for 3 point hitch with hydro ports out the front.

  • I have a 110 and it is a beast..lol, i love it, and i wish i had a 318 or 140 with hydrolics...but im happy with it and all THE older tractors r better atleast i think

  • i have a 112 and i also think its a great machine. i run a newer style 2 blade deck in the summer for mowing and a 37a blower in the winter. shes a great little machine. its a kohler k301 and its a 1971. engine is only 1 season old. bought the engine for 150 bucks. i also would love to have a 140, but my attachments wouldnt fit a 140. i have quite a bit of money invested in attachments. i would buy a 140 if the price was right.

  • Thx for the video , it helped me pick what my next tractor will be.

  • Your Welcome.

There is no doubt the 318 is one of the best lawn tractors JD has ever produced. If you want to learn more you can check out the forum at weekendfreedommachines under restoration/hydrostatic.
