  • a old F-111 no less.

  • I heard a couple of stories about this actual incident; the pilot had a malfunction that once he tried to enter the sound barrier the over pressure from the barrier just ripped it apart but there was obviously something wrong with the plane before that. IDK how true any of that is but that is what I was told.

  • Was the guy alright?

  • @3077BIODROID with an explosion like that does it look like he was alright?

  • he accidentally pressed the big red button marked self destruct.

  • That's why it's called sonic BOOM.

  • jesus hope the guy in the jet is okay

  • i wouldnt wanna eject at that speed D:

well, better then exploding i guess

  • @mizokako ikr i have thought that before fastest human in the world.

  • @mizokako plus the little boost from the actual ejection

  • @RYANRYAN1234567 little boost... only up to 20 g xD

wikipedia says 30% of ejected pilots cant fly anymore after because of health problems. untrained perons can die from it. and that at speed of sound, sounds like fun ^^

  • @mizokako what after ejection people get health problems, speed of sound your right does sound like fun :)

  • Well if you gotta go, at least go in style!

  • Both navigator and pilot ejected

  • Pilot: 88 MILES PER- BBOOOOMMMM

  • he comited suiside!!

  • Does anyone know if these service members survived?

  • @MrsMKP Yes. Both ejected and survive. Was a catastrophic engine failure possible bird ingestion. Destruction of 1 engine resulted in destruction of the other. They ejected and were recovered.

  • He hit 88 mph and went back to 1955

  • didnt they read the no smoking signs?

  • in soviet russia sound barrier break you

  • My grandpa Broke the sound barrier in his WWll Jeep :p

  • @imsocoo213 that's inpossible

  • @cofdmw91 I could do better : )

  • @cofdmw91 you used the wrong "off" you said "of" instead of "off".

  • The pilot probably tried to turn too hard for that speed. It sounds like the ejection seats did their job ("two parachutes, two parachutes!").

  • @edgerrr thanks for telling us. it was hard to hear it

  • More like sound barrier broke him.

  • heheehe 69 likes

  • Well what the fuck happened there?

  • damn, they must of not wanted any cameras on huh?

  • And that particular plane is approximately 24 million dollars, and is outdated and been replaced by F/A-18e's. Just sayin'.

  • What happened here is he tried staying AT the sound barrier (the speed of sound)... and is a complete fucking moron for that. He must've broke it about four times in a row judging by how many of those disks came from his bird. Fucking. Smart. This is also why I will forever hate the Navy.

  • @PendulumBlade Those "discs" aren't him breakking the sound barrier.

  • @PendulumBlade

whats wrong with breaking the sound barrier? I thought these planes were made so that they could do that on purpose.

  • OMG!!!

  • plane: Im too old for this shit! * boom*

  • booooom : YEAH xDD

  • He broke the sound barrier... but he also broke THE AWESOME BARRIER

  • @BossGrego -- No.

  • UFO did it hehe

  • Comment removed

  • @hammerogod -- The pilot did not survive?

Then why do the guys in the video claim to see "two parachutes" and why do people who say they were there claim that the boat pulled two guys out of the water alive?

  • @prosperomage

The boat was eaten by a Shark.

  • @prosperomage

    I got better information.

According to several sources the Pilot and RIO did survive.

    /watch?v=ZUy_5QgBZjk

But a Shark ate them later.

  • imagine surviving that, telling your kids " what ive done, nothing other than BRAKING THE SOUND BARRIER THEN MY PLANE BLOWING UP, so not much

  • I hope he survived because that is badass.

  • Oh, and that was only a Trillion dollar plane. We can buy a new one! :D And that right there is why you DON'T try breaking sound barriers kids.

    kthxbai.

  • @RoForce100 its about a 30 million dollar plane maybe 38 with new electronic upgrades.the blowjob your mother gave me and my friends last night was worth a trillion, but we didnt pay her.

  • and again a few dollars of tax money...

  • To anyone whom is still watching this: I was present at the time this happened and still vividly remember it. It was a compressor failure within the Engine Compartment and caused a rapid destabilization of the internal fuel transfer cells. In essence, the plane's rear exploded from within. However, both the pilot and the RIO ejected and were plucked out of the water soon after. The pilot was known for doing reckless maneuvers and was actually killed a little less than a year later at an airshow.

  • @Konigsteiger Was the explosion caused by breaking the barrier several times?

  • @lilbromarky1 No, all in all it was from a faulty compressor. This happened more often than it should have with the old P&W 003 models. Though it rarely happened in such a spectacular fashion.

  • wtf happened?

  • @callmeshane303 aussie troll= retarded shit.

  • @USSWISCONSIN64

Oh well anything for a contract.... "cough - star fighter - cough"

  • i think its still fatal if you punch out at mach 1 speed.

  • f-14 tom cat :)

  • was he okay?

  • is he dead?

  • @turtlecat77

Unfortunately, no-one could survive a mid-air explosion like that, and if they did, they have a bad chance with their parachute still working...

  • @Computer15776 -- Fortunately, you are wrong.

  • YEAH!!!!

  • man... that sucks

  • did he punch out?

  • did you hear the guy going " YEAH! :D " as it blew up?

  • DANGER ZONE

  • Trying to make a mach 1 proppeler plane? FAIL.

trying to make a mach 1 jet? FAIL

  • @merdaporrenta "proppeler plane" ? lol its propeller

  • @MattB613

yeah, i'm Brazilian, not english ;)

  • @merdaporrenta ah I see

  • Thats why their out of commission. Great planes, but they were getting too old and way to much manpower spent fixing vs flying.

  • who ever likes this video is...........TOTALLY AWESOME

  • Itll happen to any airplane if they bank that agressive doing mach 1.

  • Looks like an F-14.

I dont think those things were meant for supercruise or extended periods of afterburner. That could explain the explosion.

  • Maverick shouldn't have been smoking while buzzing the tower at the speed of sound.

  • great way to spend taxpayers dollars i must say

  • Comment removed

  • @sneakyabcd actually i remember seeing a documentary with this in it, both pilots somehow ejected from what was left of the plane i guess and parachuted to be picked up by one of the ships luckily.

  • what is the cause of this explosion!

  • i hear "He cant swim!!" but I also hear "Two parachutes!!!" Darn mid 90s shoulder-mounted cams with bad audio! So how does a F-14 explode like that?

  • How did he blow up?

  • He said. " Two parachutes!"

  • great go fly a mig or an SU US still has air superiority for the time being

  • @kieranmoon17 well he might try an F-15E, as it is virtually the same aircraft as the mig-29 or Su-27

  • @TecDiver05 "well he might try an F-15E, as it is virtually the same aircraft as the mig-29 or Su-27"

Yeah, in the same way as an apple is virtually the same fruit as an orange.

  • thats why id rather fly a mig or Su anyday

  • lol... amercians superiority...

  • Does anyone have an official report of the accident?

  • Most people don't respect how VIOLENT it is breaking the sound barrier at sea level... the air friction and dynamics of the pressure waves are very obtrusive. Luckily, the pilot and navigator survived and ejected safely.

  • is that guy in the end screamin Pikachu?!

  • it really does sound like hes saying it xD but really he ment parachutes

  • he said parachute

  • Pilot was Neil Jennings. They do not know exactly caused it but the best speculation was the engine oil system failed. The RIO punched them out and was burned more than the pilot.

Jennings says that they were doing high speed passes for target to detect, classify, and simulate action.

AlexisParkInn aviation videoes has the text.

  • ok? so why did the jet blow-up ? that was some over used junk of a jet

  • Junk of a jet? Why you....

Look here, this is an F14 Tomcat, a premier flying machine, not junk!

  • Friendly Fire

    hi hi hi hi

  • No he died they found his body in Australia

  • how? the frickin plane exploded

  • ur an idiot. There are TWO people in the plane first of all and if you look closely you can see them eject.

  • You can't see them eject. However, you can hear people on the deck screaming, "two parachutes!" repeatedly.

  • if you look right in front of the fireball at around 0:21-0:22 you can see what appears to be the rockets of the ejection seats lighting off. Nobody can be for certain, but it does happen twice which leads me to believe it's the two seats.

  • Well, I do know that around 21-22 I can see I gigantic fireball. I don't know how you think you can see two ejection seats in the middle of all of that with such horrible resolution in this video, and not to mention all of the random pieces of aircraft that became projectiles.

  • at about 21-22 the plane seperates into two pieces, one large fireball and one smaller one. if you look at the larger fireball like a clock, betweeen 9 and 10 o'clock is where what appears to be the rockets firing. I can't see the seats but I don't need to see them to notice rocket shots. They are not flaming debri because it doesn't extend out of the fireball but rather appears seperately and then dissapears from the fireball.

  • did he eject?

  • are you serious

  • Yes

  • ouch! for real
