I heard a couple of stories about this actual incident; the pilot had a malfunction that once he tried to enter the sound barrier the over pressure from the barrier just ripped it apart but there was obviously something wrong with the plane before that. IDK how true any of that is but that is what I was told.
wikipedia says 30% of ejected pilots cant fly anymore after because of health problems. untrained perons can die from it. and that at speed of sound, sounds like fun ^^
@MrsMKP Yes. Both ejected and survive. Was a catastrophic engine failure possible bird ingestion. Destruction of 1 engine resulted in destruction of the other. They ejected and were recovered.
What happened here is he tried staying AT the sound barrier (the speed of sound)... and is a complete fucking moron for that. He must've broke it about four times in a row judging by how many of those disks came from his bird. Fucking. Smart. This is also why I will forever hate the Navy.
Then why do the guys in the video claim to see "two parachutes" and why do people who say they were there claim that the boat pulled two guys out of the water alive?
@RoForce100 its about a 30 million dollar plane maybe 38 with new electronic upgrades.the blowjob your mother gave me and my friends last night was worth a trillion, but we didnt pay her.
To anyone whom is still watching this: I was present at the time this happened and still vividly remember it. It was a compressor failure within the Engine Compartment and caused a rapid destabilization of the internal fuel transfer cells. In essence, the plane's rear exploded from within. However, both the pilot and the RIO ejected and were plucked out of the water soon after. The pilot was known for doing reckless maneuvers and was actually killed a little less than a year later at an airshow.
@lilbromarky1 No, all in all it was from a faulty compressor. This happened more often than it should have with the old P&W 003 models. Though it rarely happened in such a spectacular fashion.
@sneakyabcd actually i remember seeing a documentary with this in it, both pilots somehow ejected from what was left of the plane i guess and parachuted to be picked up by one of the ships luckily.
Most people don't respect how VIOLENT it is breaking the sound barrier at sea level... the air friction and dynamics of the pressure waves are very obtrusive. Luckily, the pilot and navigator survived and ejected safely.
Pilot was Neil Jennings. They do not know exactly caused it but the best speculation was the engine oil system failed. The RIO punched them out and was burned more than the pilot.
Jennings says that they were doing high speed passes for target to detect, classify, and simulate action.
if you look right in front of the fireball at around 0:21-0:22 you can see what appears to be the rockets of the ejection seats lighting off. Nobody can be for certain, but it does happen twice which leads me to believe it's the two seats.
Well, I do know that around 21-22 I can see I gigantic fireball. I don't know how you think you can see two ejection seats in the middle of all of that with such horrible resolution in this video, and not to mention all of the random pieces of aircraft that became projectiles.
at about 21-22 the plane seperates into two pieces, one large fireball and one smaller one. if you look at the larger fireball like a clock, betweeen 9 and 10 o'clock is where what appears to be the rockets firing. I can't see the seats but I don't need to see them to notice rocket shots. They are not flaming debri because it doesn't extend out of the fireball but rather appears seperately and then dissapears from the fireball.
a old F-111 no less.
