  • She died, on 25 April 2011. R.I.P Poly Styrene.

    *P*E*A*C*E*

  • From what year is this?

  • Goddammit don't you just fall in love with Poly on this clip? Braces, cap, arm-swinging and all.

  • Poly Styrene / wat a girl. This vid is wanked out but if you have something better get up there

  • Poly Styrene and her lyrics are still relevant.

  • It's all a flipping rip off..

  • hello!

  • Real Music, By Real People for the Non consumer society, Ahhhh! those were the Days eh!

oh btw theres a verse missing on this version....

    "I wanna be instamatic

I wanna be a frozen pea

    I wannna be dehydrated

    In a consumer society"

  • New X-Ray Spex DVD out now. Live @ The Roundhouse London 2008 reunion show.

  • You ever buy their album as a consumer????? FUck off mate its all bollocks

  • Anyone know what doc. this is from?

  • O.G.W.T.

  • @bertniteclub ogwt?

  • @doc998 Old Grey Whistle Test

  • @NYdrone old grey whistle test, not a documentary.

  • She looks like a character from the Reading Rainbow

  • awesome post!!!!!

  • very close to pistols and anything that plays on that frequency is punk to me. like the la band, the bags. immediacy & hot weather. that's what it was. the climate change has destroyed that feeling. now there's no feeling at all. that's why all the music now sucks.

  • Nice!

  • fucking brutal, one of my favorite punk songs =)

  • undoubtedly one of the primal punk bands. i like that nihilstic summer sound like everything isgonna erupt on the 4th on the July which problaly happened. oh hell, that was a short number now i'm fallin on my typing. cheers.

  • Yeah it's sad they only did one LP and even though half of it was on 45's it didn't matter it was still great!! I remember reading Jak and Bp's interview when they formed Classix Neuveux (is that the correct spelling?) after the split and they talked about keeping a lot of energy in the music.....sadly they must of had a serious re-think!

  • why did thay only do 1 album..i remember seeing them live in 1978 & got on stage :) got thrown off quicker than i got on..my clam to fame is kissing polly hahahahaha

  • I love the cute little dance Polly is doing!

  • parece muito com bikini kill :S

    mas á muito foda!

  • Life would have been so much duller without X-Ray Spex !

  • back in 1982 Debbie Harry had i biograph out making tracks

and there was a picture of UK female rockers Siouxsie,Poly

penelope black, viv from the slits, chrissie Hynde, I always

wonder who Poly was I'm greatful for Debbie at least she

could see she was a brite star of the late 70's

  • damn,, england did it again with this fantastic band for us to have forever. poly fuckin is hotter than hell.

  • the kind is supported by mechanical resources

    love her so much

    xx

  • I cherish a plastic strawberry earring she gave me all those years ago,

    Nice one Poly!!!

  • i recently had to convince a youngster that bikini kill were influenced by this band, and not the other way around. this problem occur more and more with kids educated by the internet.

  • Who the **** are "Bikini Kill"?!

  • this band who were into talking about feminism, and drawing on themselves.

  • I'm none the wiser !

  • you can find footage of them here... or if you prefer reading, look 'em up on rateyourmusic.

  • heh

  • She was/is unbelievable, that voice could cut metal. And good back up from the rest of the band of course.

  • You absolutely can't fucking say fairer than that. This was punk at its best. I just love that woman, braces and all, belting out lyrics about consumer society with that daft cap on. And the sax! So ace.

    Polystyrene will last forever! ;)

  • Er, perhaps I meant a bottle in front of me. I'm afraid this band "passed me by" at the time, I sort of caught up with them later, but there was so many bands on the go at the time it was impossible to keep track. Then I was a massive Siouxsie fan.

Now one is lucky if there is one half decent band every five years.

  • Anyone as far as I'm concerned who doesn't like this needs a frontal lobotamy.

  • Great voice. I had this from Sounds of the Seventies but binned all my VHS tapes a few years ago. Glad someone had the foresight to keep theirs.

  • that voice is unforgetable-100% exclusive to her, brilliant

  • Despite Poly doing everything humanely possible to not come across as pretty, I still fancied her!

  • Probably because she was so awesome... it is really hard not to.

  • So cute and with something to say.

  • truly original, shes a top cat !!

  • Damn, she's a babe- smart as hell too

  • What an awesome clip. Poly Styrene is the best female vocalist ever!

  • The band is also exquisite!

  • @arover1882 no way dina cancer

  • this still rocks, jo oldish punk, not really?

  • this still rocks, i love it jo old punk

  • I have a copy of this somewhere, I love the outfit too, the 'valet meets flight attendant' look.

  • Oh my god I love Poly Styrene's jacket! ^_^

  • Yeah! She looks SO in charge!

  • exactly! ;) lol

  • Their best song!

  • top band great footage many thanx
