The pianist is Judith Gordon, and the second piece (the one w/ piano) is Gershwin's Prelude for piano (transcribed for violin and Piano by Jascha Heifetz, further arranged for cello and piano, presumably by Yo-Yo Ma himself).

@jorgeoscar1000 Whether or not Letterman's an idiot is certainly left to the individual. Why in the world, though, are you calling him a stupid Jew? His mother is a Presbyterian from Indiana; this is well-known to regular viewers of the show.

Yo Yo's appearance on this show does NOT make him look like a joke. What other late-night talk show books the world's greatest concert cellist? And Yo Yo has an excellent sense of humor, so even if it's a joke, he probably appreciates it.

@tkathryyn Thank you for the feedback, but I think you're insane. And I'm not sure what you mean by "your kind." I'm of Japanese, German, Italian, and Irish ancestry. That's a pretty dang specific "kind" to be categorizing.

@donagivanothing i think he "rushed" through it because he only had a certain time slot to fill which is probably why he didn't break between the bach and gershwin
