@hipp6y Historically, the hadrons were regarded as elementary particles.but when some new forces were detected within the atom scientists had to relate new particles to them and that is when the problem starts.They need to prove the existence of those particles, which they did by building particle accelerators and smashing atoms together.This was manageable until the LHC (27 Km).To find the next "alleged" fundamental particle the size for the accelerator should be about 1.5 AU so this is it.
