  • No 1080p on this? ;D

  • GIMME MY PRUNE JUICE

  • lol

  • That's a great song. It gives you an idea what children's songs were like, in the 1920s. :)

  • My grandma loves this song.

    And I love my grandma

    So I love this song

  • Strange how people can see "gay" in so many "normal " things these days, funny old world isn't it.

  • Another one of the songs sung by my Uncle! I remember him with great fondness - happy days! Many thanks for posting.

  • My Dad, who toured with Dudley Dale and his Gang of Boy Singers and Dancers back in the 40's used to sing this to me when I was a kid and it always made me laugh. Still does to this day. Wait until I let him know that Frank Crumit is on Utube! Thanks so very much for posting this. Dad never could remember all the verses! lol

  • What a joy!

  • My mom used to sing this to growing up after bath time that was in the 80s! So glad I finally learn it's origin! Thank you!!

  • Very funny, I have never heard this before!

  • My Dad used to sing this all the time during the 50s when I was growing up. It still flits through my mind every now and again - good memories!

  • Omg!! :L Lol

  • It is certainly available on CD.

I "had" a Frank Crumit CD with Down in the Cane Break.

Lost the thing and miss it so much!!

  • Well - I have a copy of the original 78rpm record of Down in de Cane Break ("down by de mill, lives a little coloured gal the name of Nancy Dill, I told her that I loved her I loved her very long, I'm going to seranade her and this'll be my song"). Quoted from memory, and the fact that I used to play it on my guitar in my earlier years. Problem is that it will take me some effort to find it. If you are truly keen I'll make the effort to locate it (licensing laws considered of course) . Barry

  • Great stuff, great stuff hahaha. :D

  • My sister used to sing this to me when I was a little girl back in the 50's but now she doesn't remember it and no one else I've ever met does either. Thanks for posting this!

  • What a witty ditty.

Would you happen to have a version of "I Don't Want To Play In Your Yard"? Another classic is "Your Baby Has Gone Down The Plug-Hole".

    5*****.

    Thank you.

    Jennie. X.

  • This has turned into a camp song, with many of the lyrics omitted, and I think it's amazing that this is the origin.

    Thank you for posting this!

  • It's been a treat for 80 years and counting! Glad you enjoy it, too...

  • Thanks, friend, for sharing that story...very glad this tune brought your father joy in his final days. Best to leave the stage smiling... ;)

    Best wishes,

    -RR

  • @RReady555 fathers final days when did he say he's dead? sorry for any offence this may cause :/

  • We had this on a 78 when I was a kid and I loved it. I was minded to look for it because I was telling my daughter how I went guising (trick or treating) in a black bin bag as a prune and sang this song. Well it always rains at Halloween in Scotland and I was fed up with wet wings! (as a fairy or angel)

Thank you kindly for posting it

  • Ah, the best costumes double as a raincoat! ;) Hope your girl also enjoyed this fun little tune.

    Regards,

    -RR

  • Amazing - the best thing I've ever heard!

  • Frank's exuberant whimsey is happily catchy--thanks!

    -RR

  • LMAO!

  • ;^) That's the idea!!

  • Sweet!!! Did anyone ever see Steven Tyler of Aerosmith singing this? :-)

  • No, I haven't--I'd love to!

    Best,

    -RR

  • DELIGHTFUL!

I now have a greater respect for

PP RR UU NN EE SS!

  • Ah, and they keep the system well-tuned! One of those "Sunshine Boys" words ya can't help but smile at. Thanks, genia...
