He's actually just used a video you can find right here on youtube, its a fight between Russian football firms, quite a famous one if you ever looked into football violence.
this is so great.. too bad this is the only version on youtube with the full song.. anyone confident or care enough to type out the lyrics? cant find em
Actually, for a video artist with out a crew and abundant resources, this footage is quite incredible, I read that he actually flew above the housing projects illegally in Kiev to get some of it. I love how people just shrug things off so easily without considering that it might be part of a larger context. I would like to see the whole thing, apparently its a half hour video art piece.
@kimb4832: I agree that this footage is incredible. It reveals a kind of former-Soviet-bloc desperation that is completely alien to me. And the entire piece (in 3 parts) is just as captivating as this bit and worth seeing if you get a chance. It's on display now at the New Museum in NYC in the "Younger than Jesus" exhibit.
@WOI999 /watch?v=qqTGtLZeoCY&NR=1 It tells you in this interview with Cyprien Gaillard that it's shot in several locations, Belgrade, St Petersburg & Kiev in that order.
I discovered this video a couple of months ago at the Brisbane Art Gallery while i was travelling Australia. I wrote down the artists name so i could find it here because it really impressed me. But at the art gallery i saw a more extended verson of it where the music changes and theres footage a building being destroyed.
ive seen it the day before yesterday in Boijmans van Beuningen, in Rotterdam. Took me a long time to find out who made the video of the riots and the collapsing building. Im using it for a study assignment.

And he didn't film it.

@stadtzuercher75 This is Belgrade, not St. Petersburg. The building toward the beginning is Belgrade's Genex Tower.
