Awesome bike. Though I love the look of the 4 into 4 pipes, I have conceded that a 4 into 1 is better for performance. I could immediately feel the difference when I switched the stock pipes to a 4 into 2 into 1 with a Kerker muffler. Better compression. Definitely more power. Smoother idling.
i've got such a hard on for an old sohc 750 to put in a rigid frame it pisses me off every time i see one i can't make 5 or 6 hundred extra bucks to go fucking find one. DAMN THE ECONOMY DAMN OBAMA DAMN BUSH AND DAMN THE FED FOR STEALING MY LABOR AND FUCKING THE DOLLAR! ahhhhhhhhhh!!!! i can't stand listening to it anymore i'm going to rob a bank and some old ladies now.....
@wanderer1031 Im with you. Im in So Cal, but we can meet wherever in the middle.. Lets get our money back from these banks in the most demanding of fashions, im ready to rob.. And if we go out in a blaze of glory, so be it.. we'll live through our stories..
@cxbra HELL YES!!!! i really would rather not die though, the whole point is to get some money to build a chop and then ride that fucker all over. im hoping to do the stampede someday but right now i've stooped to pretending to be a buyer and test driving peoples machines around the block.....ha....
What a Great Great bike i had a K1 new and have a couple now too, need to change a few things the cable clip on the horn, the black speedo cable retainer in the front fender and the rear shocks.. i like it a lot have fun with it i know you will TC
yea ive heard them i rode a super sport ,and rebuilt the carbs, the juga juga sound is the cylinders not turning fast enough,it makes them clatter-hard on parts
its not running correct, maybe even just a crappy plug,or really low octane fuel ,keeping it from burning right, there lable for a certain octane rating for a reason,a lot of ppl dont know it
One of the reasons the bike has a rattle is because its getting hotter and hotter setting still and running. They are built to cool as they move down the highway with air through the fins not set and idle and melt down.
Good call patiotruck, the carbs are definitely out of sync and he might want to check the cam chain tension as well as adjust the valves. The idle is way too lumpy. The CB 750 in proper tune falls right to idle and burbles away happily at about a grand like the well balanced motor it is.
That tick in idle is the bottom chain clicking against the aluminium shield. It is the design of the CB that gives this sound, it is also nothing to worry about as it does no harm.
one of the greatest,if not the greatest bikes ever built.I've had more of them than i care to count. The carbs need tuned, whatever idiot says "hydraulic lifters" knows nothing about them.Great bike, keep it,it'll last forever.
nice machine, mine had more knocks and rattles than you could have poked a stick at, rode the thing hard for over two years never missed a beat very reliabel engine, great to ride in a straight line, but pre-historic when it came to cornering. All the same they were a beast of a bike and ahead of their time
Great bike I've got one the same, just love the sound of those K1 pipes, they make beautiful music at around 5 - 6000 RPM,looks like a standard bike great work.
I had a 1975 CB 750 K5 and it was a great bike… I racked up about 25 states coast to coast

there some thing raw and so primitive, like beating drums, or the beating of a heart that a lumpy engine in some way seems to replicate.

Once the engine's hot, he should run like a train. Just turn the stationary screw on your carbs a bit higher.
Granulee 2 years ago 5
should be idling around 1500...sounds like around 1000

CB750's idle between 850 and 950. This is pulled directly from the Clymer M341 manual for CB750 1969-1978.

I owned one 750 K2 from 1975 until 1984 and this video is just spot on how I remembered that bike.
Beautiful looks
Wonderful sound
Rattling cam chain
unstable idling (despite carbs in sync)
On the whole, why did I ever sell it ??
Must have been stupid !

Ditto on that one matey! Why did we sell our old classics for peanuts when now they'd be worth a fortune.

Beautiful-looking K1. Always loved that colour.
andrewshere 3 years ago
OMG, your carbs are way out of sync.
The best way to sync them, is use a vacuum gauge. 3carbs have adjustable throttle travel.
Remove the 4 vacuum sample screws. Put tape over each hole to seal it off.
start the engine.
Sample the vacuum level at the reference carb. Check each carb by removing the tape, checking with the gauge.
You will need to take a new reference sample reading each time you make an adjustment.
Email me if you need more info. I have done this many times.

Pull the clutch in and the noise will go away. Your carbs are way out of sync, and thats causing the clutch to chatter. Dennis

no, it's just the hidraulic lifters with a lack of oil...
he'd probably was speeding with the bike in hi revs, so the lifters discharged

HYDRAULIC lifters?!?! HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Obviously you've never owned one of these.

CAM CHAIN MY SON ITS A CHAIN
woo738 3 years ago
a chain drives the cam, i'm not talking about the cam, i'm talking about the valves
valve lifter!
you know, next to the valve spring...
i'm asking if they're solid or hydraulic, like most of the cars
elementok 3 years ago
There are no lifters. It's a chain driven, single overhead cam, and the rockers ride directly on the cam lobes.
