i bought the epic touch and the processor, camera, and interface is great and screen is nice. But that said i get forced closes and it goes into roaming way too much i lose service where i live, i get messages late and dropped calls, the resolution is bad for web browsing, less text shows up you have to zoom in too much. The sound quality for music is decent but choppy. I am returning it for a photon

I'm going with the photon because of the most important thing in a phone, ability to grab a signal. In every video I've seen the photon consistently had 2-3 more bars than other phone. Where I work, you have to be within 10 feet of an outside wall to get 0-1 bars. Even then, data is useless and texts take multiple tries to send. I'd rather have a nice phone that works all the time than a REALL nice phone that doesnt work at all

To everyone noticing the different amount of bars, did you notice that the Samsung ran smoother and quicker despite bar amount? Just saying if the motorola's reception is at its best while the samsung still has bars to gain but still out does the motorola, what does this tell you about the Samsung? Seriously ppl pay attention the Samsung was clearly better.

@DUGLESSM i had the first epic, and if the epic2 has a better battery it would have to be the badest boy on the block. My old epic can go 2 days between charge easy, and i watch alot of videos on it. most smart phones if you can go 4hrs without having to find an outlet you are lucky.

@bewitchd135 I wouldn't put too much stock into receptions bars between different phones. They all tend to read reception a bit differently from the other and doesn't always mean one get worse than the other. I made phone calls with both in the same room this was recorded in and calls connected and were clear for both and the Samsung showed less bars. Does not make it better or worse. I would just recommend to test a phone where you go all the time to be sure. Try one then the other if possible

Samsung really knew what they were doing when they made this phone. Its not even a fair comparison to the photon and the price for the photon is way overpriced. Wait 6 months and I guarantee the photon will be discontinued while the epic 4g touch will still be going strong. Its a shame my contract doesnt allow me to upgrade until december of next year because I would be upgrading from the epic 4g to the galaxy s2/ 4g touch.

My Galaxy Epic Touch is having some problems when it comes to reception. When I'm in my house or at the groccery store, my calls start to drop, data roam, and lose internet connection, whereas my brother's EVO, is running perfectly fine and faster. Have you heard anything about this problem. I checked online and some people are having the same problem too. Other then that the phone works well, minus the loss of reception.

i have the Photon 4g its a amazing phone i love its design compared to the galaxy s2 . it also has way more ram and more resolution then the galaxy . longer battery life and well in my opinion .

i heard the samsung takes forever to charge up is that true? also i heard the radio in the photon is better, especially if you live in a small town or a "fringe area", which i do. so having said that, which phone do you think i'm better off with, the photon or the epic? i'm upgrading my phone early next week since i'll be eligible for an upgrade

@mrdoomsday77 I can answer both for you .. The samsung almost CANT be charged from a USB using the computer. And yes it takes forever to fully charge as well. The Photon is the best phone Sprint has when it comes to reception and the Samsung has major issues with reception that drains the battery big time. The other thing that you will see is that the phone does not display white colors . Your whites are more like a very mild blue. This phone is going back Friday.

@leafrunner123 actually i got the photon. the sound is crisp, the screen is vibrant i haven't seen pixels. i with with adw as my launcher. i also have the driving mount which comes in handy. the reception is great. i live in the mountains of nevada with barely any sprint service and i can make phone calls either through 3g or through wifi. the videos load fast. the battery is good, just make sure to use a task killer or you'll be running 800 programs without realizing it.

This week im going to the sprint store to see if they can do anything about it, if they can't then Im getting the Photon. Also Im going to get the HD docking station so I could go on the internet with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Thnx for the review on these phones much better than the other guy{flossy} review because he swear up and down the camera is better on the photon vs the evo 3d and galaxy s II...it SHOWS CLEARLY in ur video the samsung galaxy s II is much better than the photon...and I am a picture queen and I hated the camera the first day i got the photon but I will be trading it in for the GS2. A phone does't always have to be better than the other. The samsung clearly wins in speed, display and camera ( although not by much) based on many youtube videos that are out there on both phones), also try viewing pictures on a computer instead of the device itself and the still quality is almost what the natural eye can see in difference. The photon clearly wins in reception performance both 3g and call quality, audio, and overall build. With battery being equal one can call a tie..no?

@dguido1000 go see our audio test with both phones during video you will see the epic 4G touch is on part with the Photon. Had no issues with audio quality at all with the Epic 4G Touch. It seems your more coming from a bias perspective on this. Maybe you have a defective Epic 4G Touch and need to get it swapped out. But we've done our test and in our opinion from what we have done thoroughly the Epic 4G Touch is the better phone.

You don't have the brightness at the same level. When comparing brightness, always set brightness to max.
