  • I just love that style of finger picking just as Chet and Merle would have done it. You are a really greater finger style guitarist Richard and since I found you on Facebook, I can't get enough of your playing. I loved the Good Night Irene MP3 file I was listening to.

  • Great job Richard.

  • Richard is soo good. I discovered him while looking for Chet Atkins videos that I hadn't seen yet, and found him playing "Baby's Coming Home"... which is how I found this video. His version of "I still miss someone" has been in my head for weeks! Keep on picking! Would love to see him play in California some time, if he ever makes it out this way.

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • VOOOW!! One of my favourite Cash songs ever, absolutely awesome fingerpicked in a great Travis/Atkins style!

    Terrific stuff!!!! Hank C.

  • Thanks for watching, Hank. This is a super tune played by a super picker. I wish I could pick like that. Jim

  • WOW!

  • Wow is right. Richard is some picker!. Tnx for watching. Jim

  • I love this song by Johnny Cash, but I had never heard an instrumental cover before. I just love it! Good job!

    Fernando.

  • This is one of those songs that has been in the back of my mind for a long time and one day it just came out. It is a great song and just seems to be perfect for fingerpicking. My next album will include this song. It will be instrumentally and vocally in the Johnny Cash style, as a tribute to him. There will also be a fingerpicking interlude. I hope I have stayed true to the spirit of the song while at the same time, putting my take into it.

  • Beautiful Richard!!! Who wrote this tune? Is it an original with you?? Fantastic!!!

    Glen

  • Johnny Cash is the official songwriter. There are some beautiful lyrics also; but the tune just seems to lend itself to fingerstyle guitar.

I am planning on releasing a vocal version on my next album; more in John and Luther's style.

    Thanks for watching.

  • I've never found a thumbpick that didn't hurt like hell or shut off the circulation. Is there some secret to finding or adjusting them?

  • Hi Geraldine,

Sometimes it is hard to find a comfortable thumb pick that works well for you. I personally use the Fred Kelly picks. I use the light slick pick on the nylon string and the heavy speed pick on the steel string acoustic. Sometimes you can adjust the picks by putting them in hot water and then bend them the way you want them.

    Good luck,

    Richard

  • i agree with Richard the best thumbpicks in the world are Fred Kellys

  • J'ai beaucoup apprécié ce que fait Richard et j'aimerai apprendre ce morceau mais je ne trouve pas la partition..

    Merci de votre aide...

    Bye
