  • Another wonderful gem of a song. Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than the Beatles - 4 grown blokes. She was only a teen when she creayed these.

  • I love this song " SO MUCH.....". Yes, magical melodies and simple but romantical lyrics.

(Especially : "You cool my brow with your tears.")

Man, from where took this girl of 15 those ideas? So much Sensitivity and Maturity, wow !

  • great song!

  • Love this :)

  • Oh, Kate, I love love love you and that beautiful voice, those magical melodies and endlessly intriguing lyrics. You're one in a BILLION!

  • Thanks, never heard this demo

  • Love this song x

does anyone know who she's pointing at on the photo at about 0:41 ??

  • Yes, she was pointing at Alan Freeman and he was pointing at her.

  • Haha, Great!

  • Hi Symphy...wow 1973,so young....

Kate was a prodigy, such a mature song,

Great video as always dear friend....!!!

Many thanks for this gem....5 stars.!!!

  • You're welcome!

  • Not heard this early version before. She's only 15 and i'm speechless!!

  • its very beatles right???

  • @fantomole.It's even better than the Beatles.Kate is matchless!

  • Didn't she just!

Despite that, this incredible yearning in her voice and intriguingly complex lyrics are possibly the most mature thing a 15 year old has ever done...

  • @arosegrowingold - what about the kick inside? incredible song, and must have been earlier than this as it's on the original piano demos.....

  • "I need your love, I need your care so much, so much, so much."

    Fortunately she got better.

  • probably one of her best

  • So, she was what...about 15 here? That's amazing, especially considering the crap they have 15 year olds these days sell.

  • Yes, she had just turned 15 when she recorded this song.

  • wasnt this one of her demo tracks for EMI?

  • Yes, it was a demo. David Gilmour brought Kate to his farm in the autumn of 1973 to record some songs as demos. Gilmour was the producer and he also played guitar on the tracks together with the bassist and drummer from Unicorn. But I don't know if these recordings were ever presented to EMI. In 1975 Kate recorded three more songs at AIR Studios and those songs were presented to EMI.

And in 1980, Kate decided to use "Passing Through Air" as the b-side of "Army Dreamers".

  • @Symphonyofflowers I thought the sessions with Gilmour were in 1975?

  • @chefren77 She had at least two sessions with David Gilmour. One in 1973 where she recorded "Passing Through Air" and some other songs and one in 1975 at AIR Studios where she recorded "The Man With The Child In His Eyes", "The Saxophone Song" and "Maybe". That last song has never been released. And David Gilmour also visited Kate at her home in 1972-73 where she may have recorded some songs too.
