Actually the doc who done my c.i. accepted my medicaid. meaning I don't have pay anything, they almost didn't do c.i. for me because I was born deaf but saw my determination into getting it. so they went ahead do one c.i. to see how i react to it. already it been 2 months. I still have check up, mapping, etc, already I am used to sounds at level 20 dbs. So i guess it really depend on person's personality & opinion to get it or not.

HA! I just did a post saying the hospitals are only for profit! The CI manufacture, Dr., Insurance companies who pay for it....none them care about deafness. Only want to get there money. The parents SHOULD be responsible and guard their child's rights. HOWEVER, if the parents have NO knowledge of deafness and culture then parents will believe CI doctors....why? because they are the "professionals" in the medical field. Spiderman you right! CI are for hearing parents convenience :-(

The doctors do not want to be restricted on all medical practices. It's all about money and experiments, true!

As parents of Deaf child, they should be responsible to guard child's rights to make medical consents, Being Deaf is not about life or threat thing. Now I am seeing more and more lawsuits are happening against Drs and CI manufactures for malpractices. Keep fighting for children natural birthrights!
