I don't think Kurosawa (..because of his overall approach to film) would or could ever be capable of making a BAD film. Subtle maybe, but it's these "restrictions" you could say, that give Japanese culture this advantage in film narrative, I believe. Plus, you can't go wrong when most of your films are built up and based from epic literature.
great movie: let the directors credentials, along with the presence of his number 1 actor, Toshiro Mifune be that enticement that attracts you to see this movie.
Great movie indeed. I had to buy it and have no regrets owning it. Its definitely for people with a deeper sense of reality, not withstanding the one excellent fight scene nothing short of cool!
I am going to watch this tonight. I look forward to hopefully crying or being moved, touched, and uplifted by one of the definitive masters of cinema.
Being shot by real arrows whit was so cash.

I regret that "akahige" is somewhat minor compared with other Kurosawa movies.
In fact, when I saw this movie first, I was impressed by more gloomy.
However, while seeing repeatedly, the wonderfulness of this movie overwhelmed me.

How to live it all, with open eyes. How to live the great challenge of life, and to square
the impossible circle of destiny by the feat one´s loving will and vision.

A truely great film, moving and full of emotion. Although Kurosawa just couldn't resist putting in a fight scene
