  • What is nice is to hear craftsmen such as Rush take a hold of a classic and put their own touches to it. You can hear the tightness and Rush flair to a great song. Nothing wrong with this as most artist do this.

  • awesome, better than cream any day

  • I love the whole Feedback album. There's a real spirit there that in some ways seems to be lacking from regular Rush albums. I still love them all, but this "EP" has an amazing energy and is, dare I say it, fun!

  • Rush would put the kick ass in Super Bowl entertainment!

  • OH YES!

  • great song + great band = great cover

  • Nice job by Rush on a great song!

  • Great cover from a great band. Geddy freakin rips as always.

  • HELLZ YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • alex liefson is getting better with age

  • One of the best bands of all time. Deserve way more respect than they get.

  • Rush+Cream+Robert Johnson = Best Thing Ever Created

  • It's always the same shit: in all videos of covers made by any band, people on comments are only comparing the version to the original. IT'S A FUCKING TRIBUTE! Rush didn't record Feedback to say: "we're better than the who, buffalo springfield, the yardbirds..." and they didn't want to encourage this stupid comparison. They are saying that the who, buffalo and all bands covered were important to them, that like those bands, it's the so called musical influence.

  • @Alvinegro1904 I completely agree. When it comes to a cover people don' tsee for what it is! I wish this EP was a whole LP. I was waiting for more I loved FEEDBACK!!

  • Long live Rush!

  • wtf geddy sounds like himself again

  • excellent version. ......nuff said!!

  • I personally think that this is a great song for them to cover AND they do it justice! As-if I didn't already like Rush 'before' hearing them play this, now I like them even a little bit more! This is too cool!

  • The guitar player did good job!

  • @grabmygoobers lol "the guitar player"

  • Listen to Cream's Crossroads from Wheels of Fire. Nothing compares to it at all. Rush is great but Cream's version is better :D

Rush is doing a tribute to that version after all :)

  • @45pepelepew And also notice that Cream or Clapton never played it that way again. Clapton has done so many versions, but the one you hear was an improvised solo, live. It's the one that every other band tries to do and guitar players copy the solo. Rush has the rhythm section to do it. Clapton did it once like that. It is on wheels of fire, but recorded live!

  • After hearing this, I'm like "Eric who?"

  • watching geddy play jack bruces bassline without breaking a sweat is simply terrifying

  • @ak47dragunov JACK BRUCES' BASSLINE LINE IS TERRIFYING..WATCHING GEDDY LEE IS SIMPLE

  • @baliscotsurf yeah the first time i heard Bruces' bass line my mouth dropped

  • @baliscotsurf just remember jack bruce can go all out coz he wasnt singin, geddy lee is... being a big fan of cream i say creams version is better but this is terrific! and the bass is far from simple!

  • So fucking awsome

  • Rush covering Cream covering Eric Clapton covering Robert Johnson.

  • Cream, Robert Johnson and Rush all are great

  • Yes RUSH for next years Super bowl !

  • @ponyyak68 have rush and put the super bowl at halftime!

  • Yeah, I truly believe Rush is worthy of covering Cream. That was great...

  • @CLaptonisGod3324 yeah just go away. Rush rules everything they play.

  • "my band is better, my guitarist is better, yours sux" WHO CARES????!!!! rush is great, has always been great! if ya don't enjoy them,PLEASE consider changing stations. we would all appreciate it. now go away.

  • Claptoningod3324...poor bastard is looking at "A Lonely Torchlit HIll", lmfao

    RUSH-N-ROLL

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd did it better

  • If you guys want to hear passion - check out ANVIL - their version of Crossroads beats em all........................

  • DOES ANYONE HAVE THE GUITAR TABS FOR THIS??? Iv searched and searched but cant find it. I just prefer this version compared to the clapton one so if anyone knows it id love you see it. Thanks.....

  • I bow before Lerxst's guitar riffs in this song, just like that fan at 2:43 :O

  • @CLaptonisGod3324 Clapton is a fucking THIEF, and made a fortune stealing Robert Johnson's music. Mr. Alex Lifeson is a fan, and rarely does covers, he writes from his heart, not stealing someone elses soul (pun, maybe intended).

  • Alex has the most passion of them all and is the most entertaining to watch on stage. I love them all of course but hes simply hilarious and you sir are a fucking tard.

  • wow dude you shouldn't watch a Rush vid if you've never seen or heard them before. I mean don't compare them to the 3 songs that you play to yourself over and over again whatever songs they are that you must use as a yardstick to measure everybody to from musicians to your lunch meat sandwhich dude.

  • They have no IDEA what the word groove means !!! this is robotic soulless garbage !!!

  • just a great great band.

  • Rush is so f'ing underrated its not even funny, after seeing them live I realized they are definetely one of the greatest bands ever, hard to believe its 3 guys on that stage.... Geddy's voice is so unique, noone comes close to it, Alex commands that guitar like it's his slave, and do I NEED TO MENTION NEIL?

  • progressive orgy on a blues song ftw

  • Lacks passion? This shit is completely Souless!

  • @latta4 oh shut up, cream should bow to rush

  • @smb40 whao. I love Rush as much as the next man. Grew up listening to them and think Moving Pictures is an incredible album...BUT no way should Cream, one of the iconic supergroups of all time, ever bow to ANY band...let alone Rush. IMHO.

  • @Shafeone Well said my friend well said Cream should bow to no one.

  • @latta4

OK, people who speak like this tend to lack humility. You really need to realize that not everything is about you.

  • thought i liked this song before, now i love it :)

  • Neil Peart just isn't as good anymore...

  • @LlamaJudge You're just an idiot.

  • @RushRules4 he's still good, but not memorably good

  • @LlamaJudge This isn't even the type of music he typically plays. Listen to a recent live La Villa Strangiato. As far as I'm concerned he's still the greatest.

  • Stop comparing the two... They are both absolutely amazing bands, and are equally as great, Geddy has one of the greatest vocal ranges in history, and Alex can play guitar fantastically, and I don't think I need to mention Neil.

  • great cover

  • too all who doubt alex lifeson's ability, please listen to their albums from the debut through moving pictures. if you don't get a sense of his range and emotion in those albums, then start shovelin the dirt cause yer already dead.

  • this is the ghost of robert johnson and i approve this message.

  • Not impressed. At all.

  • What a stunning display of pure rock and roll authenticity. Damn, Alex -- that just KILLED.

Clapton and whatever ensemble he's with aside, NOBODY ELSE should be PERMITTED to cover this tune.

  • Rush for the super bowl this year anyone?

  • @1969ledzepp Oh. Hell. Yeah.

  • @1969ledzepp Now that's a half time show that I would actually watch!

  • @1969ledzepp i love rush ,ilove the super bowl, rush has too much class for the american, main streem crowd.

  • I'm a massive Clapton fan, just saw him a while back in concert, but this version does Cream justice. Its just as good. Rush is by far one of the greatest bands of all time, and so are they.

  • Wow this is an amazing cover - SEPT. 14th, 2010 FTW! Can't wait any longer!!!!

  • After reading all the arguments of Alex v. Eric and stuff, I'd say, 'who cares?'

I don't think that when Rush decided to play this song that they really gave a crap about what people thought or whether or not they'd be judged by their effort. After 30 years, that point should be moot. They were just having a good time and you should too, so lighten up.

  • @brewhaha1555

EXACTLY! Thank you! I know Rush.. I've learned so much about them.... With they're personality and sense of humor... 30 years later it was pretty much necissary to see their talent with covers. (hence "Feedback EP"..) So you can't say that these are terrible covers..... Who else with as big of a name as Rush, with all the songs they have, put out cover albums? I love Feedback, and Crossroads was a personal favorite. I love Cream and i love Rush even more.... but Both are amazing.

  • This is a great cover! I love it! And I love watching Geddy's face XD. GET IT GEDDY!

  • Great cover!

It keeps the classic sound, after all.

  • I like this version because it shows respect for the original. Rush plays this song so effortlessly. Good to hear Rush taking a break from their own stuff occassionally. It would be cool if they periodically recorded covers of tunes from other decades. I would like to hear a Police, Zeppelin or Pink Floyd cover by them. I remember reading somewhere that Peart was into a Madonna. It would be amusing to hear Rush cover one of her tunes.

  • @goremonio I agree with the Police, Zeppelin and Floyd but i'm not sold on the Madonna. lol

  • Clapton did not write this song. Robert Johnson did. Some of his stuff is here...

A lot of his songs were used by a lot of bands. Clapton's a big fan. Has a video called the Robert Johnson sessions, you can see some if it here if you do a search...BTW, Rush did a pretty good job here if you ask me.

  • Cream>Rush, in my opinion.

  • I went down to the Crossroads, feel down on my knBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

    God bless the vuvuzela.

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 How can you compare the two? It's like comparing Geddy Lee to Barry White. And to say that Alex lacks passion is simply untrue. I encourage you to go listen to songs other than from their first album (specifically 80s material) and you'll find passion.

And as for who is better, who cares? Rush is simply paying tribute to him and recognizing that he's a great guitarist.

  • @RollTheFemers It looks like this video is getting more plays by Clapton fans that Rush fans. Just my two cents: Rush is a great band, but Alex is probably the weakest member of the band musically. This is a guitar song, and Rush is about bass playing and drumming. Not a bad version though. Giving Alex a chance to show his teeth.

  • @drockkclapton I have to disagree with your comment about Rush. I have every song of theirs and the songs are just as much of guitar songs as they are bass and drums. Alex Lifeson is one of the greatest guitarists.

  • @RollTheFemers who said that alex lacks passion in his playing????

that is complete BULLSHTI who ever said that should get their new dvd documentary and check out alex's playing all the way back from 68

and than give an opinion alex is shamefully overlooked with his legendary skills and easily one of the top ten guitarists of all time

  • @RollTheFemers if you want passion, just listen to La Villa Strangiato

  • @RollTheFemers other than first album?? first album is fucking great dude... ;) 80's material sux balls with all the synths and all...

  • @JunacCRO Ah, to each his own, I guess. ;) I just said that because they were still finding their sound, and I think Lifeson truly developed as a player later on, in the 80s. But whatever cheeses your macaroni, haha.

  • @RollTheFemers So wrongt alex lifeson is one of the most unbeleivable guitarists of all time, listen to la villa straigiato,

  • @RollTheFemers well said, you forgot the part where alex lifeson could kick his ass anyday anywhere with any guitar but its all good :)

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 And I seriously doubt you even have nuts for anyone to lick. You don't like this cover, go to the video for the original and bitch there.

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 I just saw Clapton perform this tonight. Amazing guitarist, probably the best in the world. But I saw Rush in the same arena a year and a half ago, Lifeson played with just as much passion, just didn't make it look quite as easy. If you're listening to Rush from the 80's, you're listening to a guitar in the backseat. Geddy's keyboards took over then. Try the album that got them started - Working Man, Fly By Night, Anthem. Great guitar work. Different style from Clapton

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 Clapton is WAYY overatted dude he is good but hes not a god Lifeson come up with lick riffs and solos that Cpaton should bow to... alex lifeson rule

  • @exileinoblivion16 Clapton overrated? Stop it. You do realize that Alex's first riff on the solo is directly from Clapton's Fillmore recording right? Alex is a wonderful guitarist. But speed is not all important. Clapton's soul comes through in everything he plays from Cream to the present. As a guitarist myself I can tell you Clapton makes it sound so EASY that people always wonder what's the big deal...then try and play it. Pull up the videos of Cream's last show in 1968.

  • @Shafeone NO becuase it is so easy to play u dont realize I KNOW speed inst everything and he does have a lot of soul yes but he hasnt experimented or really done anything inivative on guitar 1. they dont call him ol' slow hands for nothing 2. hes just a regular blues player dont get me wrong he has good music i enjoy listing to clapton from time to time but hes not a "God" on guitar

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 Listen to La Villa Strangiato and then say that. Fyi you won't be able to because the guitar gods will smite you before the words exit your body.

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 Clapton fanboy much!?

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 soooo sooooo wrong

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 I would like to hear Clapton try to cover La Villa Strangiato that would be a piss poor performance and Alex Lifeson just a shredder ? Apparently your not familar with his work or you would know he can play classical guitar as well also Rush has been making records since '74 do your research next time or go listen to tears in heaven and jump out a window loser!

  • @MrTeslasRevenge Well said :)

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 Why don't you go and suck Clapton's small chud dick. Alex Lifeson shits on you and all your guitar gods.

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 look i dont care if Clapton is better than Lifeson or not.. you can compare technicalities on your own free time but you don't need to click on a video that you didnt like in the first place and bash the guy that everyone loves.. and to say Lifeson lacks soul is mind boggling! fat piece of shit? where's your soul man..

if you will criticize and want people to listen to you, try to be a little more respectful

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 There are many better guitarists than Clapton, so is Clapton worthy to lick the sweat of their nuts? Just sayin.

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 Pull your head out of your ass. You want soul /watch?v=78D00dYOBrM there it is. With a band thats played as long as Rush, you have to listen to all eras of their music before you can judge them, thats why your getting a shit ton of hate (Rush fans are pretty damn loyal). Oh yeah, your screen name isn't helping much either, makes you seem... closed minded and obsessed with a drunkard of a guitarist, granted he can play but, an unfair statement to say either guitarist is better.

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 what determines a guitarist having soul? saying a guitarist has or doesn't have soul is just a pathetic excuse used by people who don't know anything about music

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 lol, Alex Lifeson kicks the shit out of Eric Clapton in every way imaginable. Lifeson has more talent in one toenail than Clapton ever had, has, or ever will have in his entire body. Go swallow a knife, kid.

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324: oh, so by that standard do i have the right to say that eric clapton's version blows compared to to the ORIGINAL robert johnson version? No.

Because Robert Johnson is different than Cream the same way Cream is different than Rush.

Just because you're such an idiotic closed-minded Clapton fan doesn't mean Clapton is "better" than anyone.

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 He isn't shredding, lrn2guitar.

  • no need to compare the two bands..I enjoy both...better yet, compare them to what i'm guessing they call music in 2010.

  • its a fair cover, but they cant play blues. while its true that the concept wasnt Clapton's originaly, he did infact write this verson of the song. and no one not Rush, not Skynyrd can play it better than Cream

  • @coolwipp10 Okay? No one said that they were trying to play it better, they were doing covers of these songs because they thought that the originals were inspirational and what not, and were trying to pay homage. Not to say their version was better. You can't even compare Cream and Rush, they're two COMPLETELY different bands.

  • @CLaptonIsGod3324 Clapton might be worthy enough to lick the sweat off the neck of lifeson's guitar

  • @rockman1754 Nope!! Sorry!! Not even close!! Maybe you need to go back and listen.......there are bass players, there are great bass players, and then there is Geddy Lee. 'Nuff said.

  • The entire LP Feedback goes to show the naysayers out there that Rush is the best, they can play anything, and once again.....WHY AREN'T THEY IN THE HALL?????

  • @canrockfan EXACTLY BROTHER!!!!

  • its actually written by Robert Johnson

  • they should have done not fade away live

  • not to rag on him but i really admire Geddy's bass playing here

  • the prep to do that and do it well shows that some of you don't know music. thanks to the iq few that place rush as a leader in this misled music generation. no one will ever create a group like that unless it is brokered for the best players... if your 20 something start listening to people who are older than you. that is what we did. stop fuck'n up the rotation Smokey ~jah. lol

  • Sounds very much like Skynyrds Version on "One more from the Road".

I do not like Clapton so much but to do this R. Johnson acoustic original and put it to this electrifying version was a great thing to do and no discussion here on youtube or elswhere can take it away from him

  • @gillan5 THANK YOU PEOPLE!!!!

  • I've heard bar bands do it better 100's of times.

  • Clapton kills this

  • what a piece of shit cover.... and a bunch of gay fuckers playin it

  • @BorisSs7 Rush is just stupidly better then Cream

  • @Kingding6 ur mom is the best at any given time...

  • @BorisSs7 educated response

  • @Kingding6 hahaha xDD nice one man ;)

  • love this. fantastic version! crushing Clapton? better bass line than Jack Bruce? It's not a competition... but seriously.

  • Clapton gets Crushed . . . as Robert Johnson the original writer who would worship Lifeson while . . .

    he

    "I went to the crossroad

    Fell down on my knees

    I went to the crossroad

    Fell down on my knees

Asked the Lord above "Have mercy now,

Save poor Bob, if you please"

  • Lifeson makes this song his bitch

  • All these guys are masters of their instuments as far as i'm concerned. How the hell does Geddy sing those lines while he's playing that riff!!!

  • Fantastic version of Crossroads!!! Clapton's original was great, and this matches it!! For the naysayers out there, you really need to appreciate how great a guitarist Lifeson is......he's in my top 2 of all time!!

  • I saw them on this tour in DC area, It floored me the solo Alex did for this...it had to have been 5 or 6 minutes and just blazed it. I love these guys.

  • just awesome!!!

  • Awesome ! Awesome ! Tribute to Cream/Clapton.... Gosh,, "Alex Lifeson" has to be Ranked up there as One of Ten Best Guitarists of all time !!!!!!

  • Geddy's bassline is even better then the original..

  • @rockandroll4life1 I don't see how it could be different. It's not like they rearranged it or anything. Just saying.

  • @rockandroll4life1 thats easy to do seeing as how there was no bass in the original hahaha

  • @rockandroll4life1 you are a retard with no musical taste i died a little inside when i heard this cheese dick playing bruces magic

  • this cover is epic..just one of several reasons why I love rush.

  • It's a nice change to the original and if anyone didn't know the song was released on their 2004 EP all the songs being covers of some of the songs growing up loving and being influenced by.

  • call

  • like the original better (robert johnson, not cream), but this is a great cover (arranged by cream)

  • awsome

  • Cream is one of their influence in their first album...

I love this version, Geddy's bassline is amazing!!!!

  • I love Geddy's vocals here! Hell i love this cover!!! GO RUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!

  • Comment removed

  • You know what, I am a huge cream fan and not a big fan of rush but i can appreciate this for sure. Rush rips crossroads. Cream great band and Rush very good band.

  • I'm glad that you can appreciate this version as well as Creams version of this fine Robert Johnson number

  • and no shame in up the irons man. Iron MAiden rocks too

  • you should hear the album version. alex is goin nuts!

  • i bet neil had no problem with this song haha

  • He actually looks more bored than usual :P

  • ik he can play anything and make it look like hes sleeping

  • Love Geddy at 2:40

  • Rush definitely takes this song into an entirely different level

  • just look at geddy play jack bruce's line without any effort, wow

  • its awsome to her a progressive rock band play some blues!

    RUSH RULES!!!!:)

  • Geddy Lee fukin kicks ASS

  • i consider Alex to be better than Clapton

  • He's definately good but not that good

  • Definitly one of the best unsung guitar heros.

  • clapton didn't originally right it, he just made it famous

  • nice alex is awesome and doesnt get enough credit; but its to get credit with geddy and neil by his side! i think its really close, but if i had to choose i would take clapton.

  • damn right,

  • Its cool to hear a band like that preform something that isn't theirs

  • Fantastic. Nuff Sed

  • Clapton isone of the bes on guitar, i will not doubt that for a second. But as a band with all their musical talent, Rush kicks his ass.

  • Yea but rush did almost an exact copy of clapton's version of crossroads so this is really a cover of cream not robert johnson...so I'm gonna have to think that Rush views Clapton as a bigger person musically.

  • gotta love rush favorite band!

  • Guys, Cream didn't even write this song so it's not Ginger Baker's beat to claim. Neil will blow Ginger out of the water any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

  • HA funny

  • @gekko1323 who the fuck is Neil? is it that emo dude playin the drums? i dont understand why ur even comparing him to Baker; he plays just like any other drummer out there right now, all fuckin metal and shit... U might as well compare him to Bonham or somethin...

but tell me man, why is that skinny fucker singing like a little cryin pussy? i dont remember either Clapton or Ginger being fuckin gay and emo... fuckin explain it man

I JUST DONT GET THIS FUCKIN GENERATION!

  • @BorisSs7 you lack any kind of music knowledge my friend, maybe you should listen to an actually song to see how talented Neil really is or geddy or alex for that matter. And how is geddys vocals emo? he has a Robert plant esque wail, not many people can actually sing that high

Try not to embarress yourself next time you comment a video on youtube.
