  • The guy driving the big black Pointac also drove the black Charger in Bullet

  • friend of mine had a 1973 grand am flipped the aircleaner cover over.sounded good when aLL 4 barrels kicked in.lol

  • meeeeeooooooow! The purrrrrr of American V-8's

  • sound effects are the same for Driver 1.

  • UMM WHATS UP WITH THE SPANISH

  • Great movie!

  • thats a twist. it seems like the good guy crashed

  • When they got across that bridge were they in New Jersey?

  • @jthomas666 my bad I meant Riverside Dr. LOL

  • @jthomas666 they also failed to get the transition from Riverside parkway onto the GW bridge. I would've been perfect showing the U-turn somewhere on 178th onto 179th heading towards the upper level. Unfortunately that is implied vs. being shot which kinda sucks but other than that, the chase was perfect. Now I have to see Bullitt.

  • that isnt a charger btw... that is a lincoln. i cant tell what kind but i know what kind of car it is and the tan car is a pontiac

  • fuck bullit

  • dont you love the same sound effect as bullit when they double clutch

  • stop argiung about stupid cars , go find a girl and get laid...:P :) ahahaha

  • Ha ha Pontiac Ventura, how unlike chase car can one be?

  • What's wrong with a Ventura? Nova Body style, last GTO (74) was a Ventura. They could come with 350, I had one, 72 2 door booger green and wicked fast!

  • @James0829 While that Venture might not have the looks of a Mustang, that was was one hot little car for it's day, cars back then didn't have the stiff Europing suspension as they do today, American cars were made for comfort, so that is amazing driiving for both cars. I love Bullit, Steve McQueen and the direcetor set the standard, but just like sports records, records are made to be broken......the chase scene in the French Connection is better than Bullit also........

  • @Petrooli You obviously know nothing of cars of a generation or two ago.........

  • @Victor44413

I know that it is sister model to far more popular Chevy Nova, there is also less popular Olds Omega and Buick Apollo. I was just saying, that I have seen ALOT chase movies and this is first time I see this body model of Ventura. There has been ALOT of Novas though. What do you want to know?

  • just about to say before i read youre comment it's the same engine sound as bullitt!

  • One of the best car chases of all times!

  • 02:33

    lol

  • ONE OF THE BEST! OF ALL TIME!!!!!

  • I love how you see them on the GW, but then 2 seconds later they magically appear on the Taconic Parkway

  • Its the 70s!!! anything goes!!!

  • My aunt had a '73 Grand Ville just like the one those bad guys drove - except in light green.

It's a bit strange seeing it in a high-speed chase, considering she never drove hers faster than 55 mph.

  • i really don't think a cop (undercover, or otherwise), would have jumped his car up over a curb, and onto a sidewalk and sped after a perp.

    reckless endangerment.

  • Great film!!! From time to time i see it on TBS or AMC.

  • Getaway driver looks like an older version of the gang leader in the film "The Driver" that had the orange merc??

  • ber beifahrer

    soo geil xD

  • 1:03 lol

  • Best finish to a car chase EVER!

  • F'n rad!!!

  • btw, fyi - the two men who were involved with seven-ups, bullitt and french connection? stunt driver bill hickman and producer phillip d'antoni...

  • i really liked this!!!! i would be willing to bet that the driver of the pontiac is the same guy that drove the charger in bullit cause the time frame would be about right!! after reading the comments, i guess i was right!! bill is a cooldude!!!

  • That looks like the driver of the charger in Bullitt at 06:05. It's probably the same guy.

  • it's bill hickman, who drove in bullitt - french connection - seven-ups...

  • Even the engine sounnd is sampled from Bullitt - either that, or this features the world's only double-declutching automatic gearbox.

  • Awesome - back when cars looked cool.

  • I also think this chase scene was an homage to the Bullitt chase scene. In Bullitt, the passenger in the Charger and McQueen in the Mustang were both cool and unflappable, despite the incredible driving that was occurring. In this scene, Hickman's passenger seems genuinely (and hilariously) scared out of his wits at some points and once looks at Hickman like "is he nuts or something?" And Scheider is a much more flawed driver than McQueen was and has a lot of funny facial expressions too.

  • I read once that actor Paul Genge who played Bill Hickmans hitman partner in "Bullitt",had to be sedated during some of Bills driving, because he was so unnerved.Richard Lynch also looks genuinely frightened in this film!

  • Bill Hickman (the driver of the Grand Ville) was the stunt coordinator for both movies. That's why the stunts were so similar. Hickman was the driver of the black Charger in Bullitt. Even the sound effects are the same!
