I Honestly Don't Care What Nostalgia Critic Says About This Film! This Is One of Don Bluth's BEST WORK!!! Everything from the Art Direction, The Story, The Characters and The Amazing Soundtrack are what really makes this film extra special in my eyes, I don't really see how this film has a bad reception! If anything, I view this film as being a complete work of art and I'm sure many fans of this would agree! There are not many films like Rock-a-Doodle and there probably never will be, It Rocks!
I don't get why Rock-A-Doodle got such bad reviews. From the clips I've seen, it looks awesome. I think they wanted to bash Don Bluth's movies back in the 90's because Disney was having their renaissance back then.
Does anyone know who wrote the musical score to this film? I like the end credits score that occurs after "Tyin' Your Shoes", and was just wondering because I missed them in the end credits on my first viewing. Thanks! :)
Now Cartoon Network used to be a channel that shows vintage non-disney cartoons until it became a rip-off of Nickelodeon by starting with Dexter's Laboratory.
@hugh0221 Sorry, we can't kill the Duke. If he dies, we have no Pooh Adventures with him, and if we have no Pooh Adventures with him, it's hardly a quest, merely Pooh's gang roaming the world.
Don is still planning new projects in his 7th decade, asking his passionate animation fans the most provoking questions, and still at it with being a traditional classic animation artist!
For some reason the Game Diddy Kong Racing (created by Rare and published by Nintend) reminds Me of this movie for some strange reason, in fact Diddy Kong racing reminds Me of Don Bluth's movies a lot but for some reason Diddy Kong Racing especially reminds of this one for some reason though I could never quite put My finger on why it did (and I don't mean I'm insulting Diddy Kong Racing or Rock-a-Doodle just that Diddy Kong Racing reminds Me of this movie and I don't know why).
(Tyin' your shoes) Kid, you're never too old to learn (Tyin' your shoes) Now I's really old And I's all ready to burn, you see 'Cause I've been over, around, under and through Life is just like tyin' your shoes 'Cause I've been over, around, under and through Life is just like tyin' your shoes Life is just like tyin' your shoes (Tyin' your shoes) Yeah, just like tyin' your shoes (Tyin' your shoes) Life is just like tyin' your shoes
It's somewhat odd that this movie has such a long credit scroll; it was actually longer by about 2-3 extra minutes in the theatrical screening, but the last two portions were sped up on the initial VHS release, cutting out a good portion of the beautiful music that plays. The recent DVD release I saw has the credits unaltered, which, up until then, could only be seen on occasional TV broadcasts of the film.
I'm sorry. PLEASE DON'T READ THIS you will die in seven days if you don't post this comment on 10 videos in the next hour. if you do, tomorrow will be the best day of your life sorry... i hate these things...didn't want the risk lol
I'll have to disagree with you on that american tail had 3 sequals this is too good to have a sequal it would suck ass if this had a sequal but still I really like american tail thats one of my favorite Don bluth films at least in the top 3 list rock a doodle the land before time and american tail.
Dear Sir or Madam. I hadn't seen this movie since it was released on video in the early 90s. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to watch it again. Only rented it once, but it was just that memorable. Thanks again.
well when i had the movie i remember the goldrest logo instead of the don bluth. that the best part of the credits when that part come up when the screen turns red and the leaf falls. it goes great with music.
Goldcrest Films logo? Well, there's nothing I could have 'forgotten' because I segmented from the last cel of the last part of the actual movie to the very end of the avi, so if it's missing that's not something that I can fix.
Well, I've seen a version that ends with the Goldcrest logo...*instead* of that Don Bluth animated logo. So I guess the version you have ends with the "leaf" logo instead...
Now that I think about it, I think the version that needlenose has DID have the Goldcrest logo, except that the file got cut off before the logo appeared.
WTF kind of song is "tying your shoes"? It's not like the other end title songs in previous Don Bluth flicks.

Forget my last comment. I found out through a great website about Don Bluth that the score was composed by Robert Folk.

I remember this movie when I was like 8 or 9 years old. I also liked the 2 American Tale movies (with Fivel the mouse).
I would say this movie is also in league with "We're Back" or whatever it was with the dinosaurs.

I love the Grand Duke of Owls!!
dolphinluv2413 2 years ago
I hate that climax! That poor baby owl. Why didn't Mr Bluth just kill him when he was that tornado?
And what's wrong with those other owls, they did nothing but watching what their boss did. Are Chanticleer & the Duke some kind of gladiators? =(
hugh0221 1 year ago
Mr. Bluth should've made him a reformed villain.

Even though his song was only played during the end credits, it's very satisfying to know that Phil Harris got to sing in this, his last film role.

You know, this movie was cut for a G-rating. If the "skunk pie" part was still in, "Rock-A-Doodle" would get a PG.
KiriannasBoyARtisan 3 years ago 6
The showing of the "skunk pie" would have scared little children anyway.
