Anyone had any problems with their 2000 ssei having brake warping issues? I've had to replace mine every 2 years which amounts to 1200 bucks. Seems kinda ridiculous to me. That and the transmission likes to shift rough the hotter it gets xP
@ramboman5780 take it to a dealer sounds like you have a problem, especially if the tranny is heating up bad. If you messed with the sc and put in a new system/boosted/etc. you need to add a cooling system.
@imserious2187 Wow, really. Now I'm doubting you even have a high school education. NOW you're saying that you're not speakiing for every gtp when just a few comments ago you were. And I quote "those slow ass bonnies cant run with my gtp or any other gtp". . . (silence) Yea, thought so. You're just fucking retarded, Oh excuse my french. I meant, PRAISE THE MIGHTY GM MECHANIC WITH THE WORLD RECORD HOLDING GTP THAT NO OTHER PONTIAC CAN KEEP UP WITH! (sigh) that was a mouthful. U win dude. I quit
@ladyweeder194 haha I don't think serious knows shit, I got this exact same car and I've already outdone a Porsche of course not all of my engine is stock but the supercharger is nearly untouched.
i love all the haters (my COUSINS car this, and my BROTHERS car that lol) aside from cars of the "classic" era when computers didnt exist, pontiac never made anything better than the bonne. throw an over sized charger pully, a kk&m air system and tweak the computer a bit and you can have that v6 pushing 350hp. no grand am ever will have that. and if it does hes a dumbass redneck who shoulda bought a better car to start with.
Anyway, why are all these pontiac people fighting amongst each other? To be honest, coming from someone who has a pontiac passion and works on all of them, and is an owner of an '02 WS6, neither of you know wth you're talking about. Even on forums the only main debate is 'quality' which the Bonneville takes imo. For performance? They're identical... Same powertain, same drivetrain. The 200lbs makes but maybe a tenth in the 1/4...Bon is more luxury
@imserious2187 False. From the factory the Bonneville comes with more luxury(luxury sedan) and more power(albeit only 5 more hp, but still more).lol I know this is true for the older sedans, not sure about the post 03 group though
@ladyweeder194 that 5hp doesnt make a diff, trust me i have a stock gtp and ive neva lost to a ssei heads up, and the no sc prix still beats the non sc bonnie
@imserious2187 I'm glad you said that because that's exactly what I was talking about. The NA of both cars vs each other the Bonne still wins. The SC edition of both cars both have 240 HP but the base of each is 200BHP-GP and 205BHP-Bonne. The Bonneville was Pontiacs longest running line-up and their flagship car. Don't you think it would be stupid to make the GP faster. But don't take my word for it. Go look at any GP vs Bonne vid and the Bonne comes out on top. Modded or stock.
@imserious2187 Most likely you drive a GP which is why your opinion is so overly biased regardless of the facts being right in front of you. Either way. I gaurentee if you could find someone to line up with you, and record it, you wouldn't like the outcome. Even in the comments on most of the vids the GP owners admit that the Bonne is faster. Moral of the story is: Although the GP is a good car and street legend, the Bonneville is still faster
@ladyweeder194 just like u drive a bonnie and think its better, 97-03 gtps wills beat any ssei stock for stock with the same 240hp, grand prix is jus a plain sports pontiac the bonnie is more luxury so it will lose, i knw im a good driver but i think the cars performance has smthn to do wit it also, ya think lol
@imserious2187 Fine dude. Think whatever you want. Bonne's have longer gearing which means it's gonna pull a little more torque out on any run. Like a said. The proof is in all the videos. Also like I said, I would be willing to put my title on the line-my modded SE vs your stock GTP. I gaurentee you would be walking home. There's a reason most aftermarket tuners first choice is the Bonneville. . . Enough said
@ladyweeder194 wen it was stock id still kill u, those longer gears are garbage for a 1/4 mile run on the street, track then u maybe can nose a gtp out if both cars leave off the line the same which i doubt becuz one driver will b better
@imserious2187 You have to be braindead. Like I said I've already beaten stock Gtps in my modded SE. As a matter of fact go up to the search bar and find your answer. There are races between the stock version of each car. Even the GP owners on the forum admit the Bonne pulls harder. It's ok you're in denial. Just to be on the safe side I even went out and recorded a little video for you today. My SE having a faster 0-60 than a GTP. Proof in itself. Just don't cry when the answers staring at you
@imserioius2187 Not to mention my trunk is STILL packed, along with my backseat, AND a passenger in the car, just in case you didn't wanna believe the video I could have a visual witness. @ladyweeder194 u have to be seriously retarded, those slow ass bonnies cant run with my gtp or any other gtp, they are too heavy and those long gears are garbage like i said, its jus a flashy tuned dwn prix
@imserious2187 Ok dude. You're obviously immune to facts. Physics don't appy to you I guess. But I'm done tryna make a point. I totally forgot you have the fastest GTP of all, EVER!!! My slow Bonneville couldn't keep up with you in my dreams. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Much props on your killer GTP
@ladyweeder194 im not immune to ntn, im telling u about my car and my experience, i cant speak for every gtp and ssei, u obviously have the fastest one made so we will leave it at that
@imserious2187 You are retarded, first off SSEi's only weigh about 200lbs more than the GTP, second those "long gears" are identical to the GTP's, they both have the same trans and differential ratio. Funny, my 03 ssei did 0-60 in 6.4 seconds with just a gutted airbox and drop in K&N filter.
Yeah man I'd buy it if it's in good shape/decent miles, I own a 98 SE, before I got the one in the vid I actually wanted a 98 SSEi they're getting rare
@Halogen360 This car does well for only having 240hp which is not a lot by today's standards. Your caddy has about 300hp? Or is it the same motor as the GXP?
@Halogen360 Thanks, I also own a '98 Bonnie SE, it sold me on the 3.8's. If you enjoy the NA 3.8 as much as I did you have to check out the Supercharged, it will make you smile daily. Before I got the '98 I had a Chevy with the 3.1 that just left me wanting more. So next it's either a G8 or CTS-V, love that GM POWER!
my friends laughed at me when i bought my 2000 SSEI because they all have mustanfs and comaros but i only smiled at them and said i bet i can kick ur ass lol i whooped all of them lol looks my be decieving 3800 sc are great
hey guys! I have a 2000 bonneville supercharged. THe car overall is GREAT! Nothing major has happened to it. I race with my friends sometimes and i win no problem. People ask me, how does a car that big and heavy win like its nothing? And i also get questions like how much does the car itself weight? Can someone help me, im not sure how much it weights. Thanks! :D
@rafman1212 look where the vin number should be and it will tell you how much the car weigh. who all did you race.i could kill you in my brothers grand am.
I am looking at getting a 2000 SSEI. Do they have a first series or second series supercharged 3.8L V6? I'm not sure if they even made a second series for the supercharged V6.
@spyguy49 Oh yeah, needed some elbow grease but otherwise, a great running car. I'm giving it a full blown tune up slowly but surely and it's lovin' every bit of it. Wouldn't even be able to tell it has 184k miles on it.
i heard GM recalled the 3800 Series II engine on April 14, 2009 and that you can buy Aftermarket intake manifolds with brass inserts to prevent them from cracking
@victoriadish Just my luck, I also own a 1998 Bonneville SE that I needed to replace the intake manifold twice, the second time the mechanic said to have removed around 1-2 gallons of coolent mixed in with the oil. The engine didn't hydrolock amazingly after driving it home 30 miles and barely running! It did end up spinning a rod bearing which is no easy fix. All this of course happening before April 2009
@jazzmusicplayer hell yea they are! my first and current car is a 99 ssei. if i keep my foot off of the petal i average 18-20 mpg and 30 highway if im lucky. easy to work on and easy to mod too.
@jazzmusicplayer hell yea they are! my first and current car is a 99 ssei. if i keep my foot off of the petal i average 18-20 mpg and 30 highway if im lucky. easy to work on and easy to mod too.
@xxxpingzing18xxx Strange, lol I'd take it to the pep boys lol... I just signed the papers on mine today it is officially mine. It's a 2000 ssei and has 140 grand on it, runs like a champ even with the bad catalyst and I only payed 3395 for it after everything... So I am happy.
@spyguy49 Yeah, SSEi supercharged V6. It's not a V8, Plus gearing makes a difference. I also have an 86 Dodge ram 318 that gets 22 mpg, not because it's some mythical creature but it has 2.73 gearing... Just because you own an SSEi doesn't make you the end all expert. Oh and by the way did you see the soft driving bit, keep your foot off the floor and watch the gas mileage increase, magic I know but possible magic.
@nowthisis2stupid ok dude don't talk to me like I'm an idiot, we're driving the same car with the same gearing. I watch the gas milage prolly as much as I watch the speedo so I know how to get the best fuel economy, but I've never seen it get 30-34 on level ground maintaining the same mph at any speed
not sure what to do i bought the secret weapon r cold air intake. cost me about 200 bucks and it really didn't do anything it said it was suppose to do. i sent it back and got my dam money back. have any idea's?? by the way i have a 01 ssei.
@calistameghan You need to get the air filter out of the engine bay to get any kind of power increase. with the intake you had the air filter is still under the hood so its just sucking in hot air. I would look into a dyno tune you can get another 20 horse power on a stock engine with just a tune.
@calistameghan an intake won't add tons of horsepower u might not even notice a change, but it will add gas mileage and I noticed that my car seemed to shift smoother after I got mine.
I asked around and everyone says that the dexcool is a must for the 2000 ssei. They all also know that the dexcool eats the gaskets, but ethylene glycol eats it faster. Maybe it's just a problem with the 2000 ssei and they fixed it with later models...
some idiot at NTB told us not to add DEXCOOL as the coolant because it damages the engine and instead add the usual green crap. Well, that was 4 years ago and ever since we've had to replace all the gaskets on the engine twice which totals $3500 and we're getting ready to replace them again......we thought we got a lemon but asked someone recently what coolant we should use and he said NEVER use anything BUT DEXCOOL.....i wanna kill that ntb mothaF**ka for f**king up the best sedan in the world
It's the DexCool that killed t in the first place. I know several little old lady types whose 3800's didn't make it to 80k without MAJOR problems. DexCool turns into mud. The green stuff has been proven over several decades. The Chevy dealer told one of the ladies that they recommend changing the DexCool every 30k to prevent problems. Her owner's manual says it's supposed to last 150k. GM has some good products but the company as a whole just doesn't stand behind their products,
Just take it easy, man. The car was filled with Dex-cool at the factory. My experience tells me that when you switched to the non-Dex, the damage had already been done. Many 3800's made before Dex-cool had the green stuff from the factory, such as my sister's 91 Bonneville, with no cooling problems, gasket problems, or anything, till earlier this year, 18 years later with 230k miles, she needed a new radiator... Sounds to me like the green stuff holds up pretty good. What is NTB?
Dexcool turns acidic after enough heat cycles and eats the nylon intake gaskets, I flushed my 03 SSEi and replaced it with ethylene glycol (AKA green stuff) and dont have a problem at all
anyone have any ideas on what we can do performance wise to a 02 pontac bonnevile v6 that doesnt have a supercharger it has like 205 hp which is ok for getting around but my friend wants more power
i have the same car.. a 2000.. first thing i'd do is exhaust then a cold air intake and i got some cheap alloy wheels off a pontiac montana van.. they look good =]
yeah at least.. probably like 15-20 if you do a full exhaust. im running straight pipes to the rear and out a magnaflow muffler like "boster000" his bonne sounds really good give it a look
it would need a lot more than just the supercharger, the supercharged bonnevilles have a lot of beefed up parts to handle the extra power. different trans, ignition, timing, computer, etc... If I were your friend I would start with CAI and headers/exhaust and computer upgrade, then maybe some serious engine stuff like a different cam would make that thing a sleeper
pretty much the enitire engine had to be rebuilt so its been sent off and crushed he has a proper job now so he leased a ford fusion with a 6 and awd that thing goes like stink but we will always miss the bonneville
I saw it had about 126k right. I have the same car with bout 100k. Do you remeber when it was brand new? It hauled so much more ass. Wear and tear I guess
here is another asshole who loves ssei's and knows everything.....nt gonna discuss this bullshit again

not sure what to do i bought the secret weapon r cold air intake. cost me about 200 bucks and it really didn't do anything it said it was suppose to do. i sent it back and got my dam money back. have any idea's?? by the way i have a 01 ssei.
calistameghan 2 years ago
@calistameghan You need to get the air filter out of the engine bay to get any kind of power increase. with the intake you had the air filter is still under the hood so its just sucking in hot air. I would look into a dyno tune you can get another 20 horse power on a stock engine with just a tune.
workensmart 2 years ago
@calistameghan an intake won't add tons of horsepower u might not even notice a change, but it will add gas mileage and I noticed that my car seemed to shift smoother after I got mine.

i dunno, i have yet to take it in to get it evaluated. but yes, it is freaking leaking coolant in to the engine.

GMisurdaddy:
I asked around and everyone says that the dexcool is a must for the 2000 ssei. They all also know that the dexcool eats the gaskets, but ethylene glycol eats it faster. Maybe it's just a problem with the 2000 ssei and they fixed it with later models...

Bonnevilles are the mad dope yo!
will1977a 2 years ago
some idiot at NTB told us not to add DEXCOOL as the coolant because it damages the engine and instead add the usual green crap. Well, that was 4 years ago and ever since we've had to replace all the gaskets on the engine twice which totals $3500 and we're getting ready to replace them again......we thought we got a lemon but asked someone recently what coolant we should use and he said NEVER use anything BUT DEXCOOL.....i wanna kill that ntb mothaF**ka for f**king up the best sedan in the world
ramboman5780 2 years ago
but before that different coolant, it ran like a dream.....plus the AC has gone to crap and we might have to junk it which will literally kill me
ramboman5780 2 years ago
same thing happened to me i was pissed it is the best sedan ever
JFiannaca 2 years ago

What is NTB?
putzthemouse 2 years ago
Dexcool turns acidic after enough heat cycles and eats the nylon intake gaskets, I flushed my 03 SSEi and replaced it with ethylene glycol (AKA green stuff) and dont have a problem at all

AND u had a full tank of gas. so bald tires, and incline, and full tank of gas. still pretty fast

anyone have any ideas on what we can do performance wise to a 02 pontac bonnevile v6 that doesnt have a supercharger it has like 205 hp which is ok for getting around but my friend wants more power
cerwinvegafan 2 years ago
i have the same car.. a 2000.. first thing i'd do is exhaust then a cold air intake and i got some cheap alloy wheels off a pontiac montana van.. they look good =]
labreck12 2 years ago
what would that do to the car power wise with the cai and exhaust like 10 hp?
cerwinvegafan 2 years ago
yeah at least.. probably like 15-20 if you do a full exhaust. im running straight pipes to the rear and out a magnaflow muffler like "boster000" his bonne sounds really good give it a look
labreck12 2 years ago
is it possible to buy a supercharger and put it on or is the engine just not setup for one
cerwinvegafan 2 years ago
it would need a lot more than just the supercharger, the supercharged bonnevilles have a lot of beefed up parts to handle the extra power. different trans, ignition, timing, computer, etc... If I were your friend I would start with CAI and headers/exhaust and computer upgrade, then maybe some serious engine stuff like a different cam would make that thing a sleeper
spyguy49 2 years ago
true recomend any brands for computer upgrades

cerwinvegafan 2 years ago
Aw wtf, what did he buy? After my SLE dies I want to get the 05 Bonneville GXP with the V8 in it....yummy. Sucsk abt his car tho, sry to hear that.
DystruktoBoi1 2 years ago
pretty much the enitire engine had to be rebuilt so its been sent off and crushed he has a proper job now so he leased a ford fusion with a 6 and awd that thing goes like stink but we will always miss the bonneville
cerwinvegafan 2 years ago
I have a 2002 and if you don't stomp on the gas right away for a few seconds the supercharger will really kick in. I love this car.
sylviepete 2 years ago
I saw it had about 126k right. I have the same car with bout 100k. Do you remeber when it was brand new? It hauled so much more ass. Wear and tear I guess
