Used a throw bag. It's a small canvas bag filled with sand attached to a cord the cord is then used to pull up the main rope.

You fire it into the tree with a catapult.

It did'nt look like much ....but those were big heavy lumps balancing precariously? up in the crown. Coulndnt fell it as the bottom was in rag order and it was leaning back into a farmers land. I did put a harness on to go up and sort it out.....but bottled out about twelve foot up. If one of themhad come down.....my helmet wouldn't have been much good.

i dismantled a huge Pine not a bit of bark on it .The only way was to do it was to swing from a live one, once i got it to ground level it was just held up by mush.If i'd have known i'd have pulled that one over, i mean if it had gone i was stropped round it so that would have been me gone with it. Always pays to look at every aspect with an iffy tree. Stay safe.
