Sometimes, yes. Usually, it's the Scots language though. Let's just say, I have to look up a third of the words he says in some songs, and it's not so for others.

I think Scots should be considered a different language, because it's that distinct.

I've been listening to Matt's songs on youtube. He's to the level of Robert Burns in his ability to write such beautiful verse in the Scots language and Scottish English.

I'm sure many 'traditionalist academics' would scream in horror at reading your comment, but I couldn't agree more, in my opinion, he is up there. Matt McGinn lyrically painted a picture of a world which has now gone but with a clear message to future generations, similar to Burns.
