And SLI u know,u will get fps probs because of

you need a motherboard that supports 3 way sli, like a Nvidia Nforce 780i or a 790i ultra that supports 3 GPU's with SLI

DONT USE 780i, its shit, the 790i on the other hand is an amazing Chipset, capable of amazing overclocks. An overclock world record was acheived on a Striker II Extreme 790i.

Better using this & a Core 2, dont waste money on i7. keep the saving until i9 next year.

Yeh I had the striker extreme 680i really good board, I skipped the 750 & 780 because they god bad reviews but the 790i ultra got amazing I mean amazing reviews, the striker II extreme really is a beast of a board.

I am using it with QX9770 for this new build with GTX 280 tri sli, 4g Mushkin ram with D9 chips.

Everything on water even the RAM & 2 velociraptors & 2 raptor Xs.

I am looking for atleast 4.2 from this Chip & around 500fsb which 790i can do no probs.

The 9800 GX2 has 256 total Stream Processors compared to the 8500 GT's 16, and 1.5ghz in comparison to 900 mhz. Giving the 9800 GX2 a bandwidth of 128 GB/s, to 12.8GB/s on the 8500GT.

Don't get me wrong, the 8500 is great! But the 9800GX2 is a BEAST.

Nope it wont pci 1.0 is for media cards, wireless card, ect. Pci 2.0 is a fater slot for pci x16 (Pci x16 is the slot that u put ur gpu into) So pci 2.0 = pci x16 slot

pci 1.0 = media slot/random stuff

Yes it will work. It is backwards compatable. airsofter18889 is thinking of PCI-E 1X and he is wrong. Performance will be just as good as PCI-E 2.0 aswell.

All the 780/790s are about as bad as each other. Asus is slighty worse right now I'm going EVGA. The big boards do, do alot more than the smaller ones but not that many people really need all the extra's. In a top end Sli machine the mobo is generally cheaper thant the case/cpu/gpu's/HD array/RAM etc.

well yes and no, the & series do have an issue with video and some GPUS. Several tech forums have quite a few issues with 790, 780 is calming down with new bios like the 680 did. &%) is a great board but only 2x sli is an issue for people who need 3 GPU's for XHD.

Trib was braver than me with his ultras, 24/7 i leave them about 680 clock. maxi went a bit mad, 4Ghz on water is safe with a quad, over and you may blow. OC'ing the GPU's has a bigger effect and I also suspect a Razer Ac1 helps vs a xifi by a few FPS. race is on when we all stick 3x GTX280's in later this month. Although i suspect I may need a 1600w PSU for 3 of them.
