  • Bravissimo!!!

  • Impressive; there is a power and ease in his delivery which is not common.

  • Gorgeous voice!

  • My favorite voice among modern baritones. Not the most subtle interpreter, but with a voice like that, who cares? I heard him live, once, in concert and he was stupendous.

  • BRAVO!

    UNO DE LOS MAS GRANDES

  • Espectacular!!! Tenia todo lo que se le puede pedir a un baritono!

  • Baritono FORMIDABILE.

  • What's all this talk about him not having a career? I first heard him on a recording of Le Villi - Puccini's first opera. He was a standout. I heard him live many years later singing Nabucco. What he didn't have was a recording contract or a berth at the Met.

  • Fantastic!!! Thanks for posting. Could you post also the cabaletta of this evening?

  • Very very underated Baritone. Milnes had a carear and he didn't ? go figure. No Yoweling line Milnes.

  • @tenorismo I'd love to have his "non-career"!! He lasted a lot longer than Milnes too...but was based more in Europe and had less of the American BS publicity machine behind him. One of the true greats.

  • Manuguerra - one of the great baritones. Wonderful to see and hear this. Thank you for posting.

  • Qualcuno diceva che Manuguerra abusava dei suoni nasali. Ritengo questa critica ingiusta e irrispettosa della sua grandezza.

  • Here's a REAL voice! A superb Rigoletto at the Metropolitan and a wonderful Nelusko in Africaine at Carnegie Hall, NY, with the American Opera Society, 1972.

Manuguerra (1924 - 1998; a French citizen, born in Tunis of Sicilian stock, trained in Argentina!) was the real thing. Memories!

  • This guy is in the same league as Korea's greatest Dramatic Baritone: Koh & my all time favorite Romania's Nicolae Herlea! Full sounding "Verdi" baritones w/out making much effort! We need more of these guys!

  • wow i read that he had never sang until he was 35 years old! incredible

  • Prima voce maestro...!!!

  • One forgets which singer was Manuguerra. In my area where it lived (Montpellier/France), we were likely to be able to often hear it with the scene... Marseilles, Nice, Avignon. A treat!!!!! The class!

  • grande baritono... ottima tecnica e fraseggio,, non se ne vedono eguali all'orizzonte

  • A very unrated baritone

  • first class
