I am almost 19 and on the Depo, switching to Mirena. I am supposed to be getting the Mirena pretty soon and I am actually 5' 3" myself and only weigh about 105-108 so a weight gain is kind of desired for me because when I started Depo, it took my normal weight of 115-118 away so now I'm small. I've had the mirena about 7 seven months and I'm getting it removed on the 17th.. I have headaches and its making my acne worse. Ive recently been having blurred vision and bright light bother me. I had my eyes checked two weeks ago and my eyes have not gotten worse... Still blurred vision some times, and low and behold I just read the damn mirena can cause blurred vision... Video coming soon

i love this video, I have the same symptoms. i had the IUD w/o horomones and lost a lot of weight... as soon as i went back on BC w/ horomones the weight came back on. Think about it... cattle farmers give cows horomones so that they can be fatter and have more meat. the same thing happens to us! try Paraguard.

Well I had the mirena for about 2-3 years and I dont remember any signficant side effects but I was in physical therapy school which is stressful so i naturally had moodiness, headaches, and weight gain from eating bad so im not sure if that was due to the iud or school...i eventually took it out because my bf said he could feel the strings so I got on pills. I had it for 3 years as well as my sister. This cause me and my sister to have panic attacks a dicharge. It was good the 1st year in a half after that then problem began. Once I got it out I felt so much better.

Girl I feel you!! I tried an IUD after being on the patch for 2 years. The side effects are the worst I had mood swings, 8 day periods, night sweats, and killer migraines. I have an appt. To have it removed on 1/20 and it can't wait!!! It's got to go! I'd rather be pregnant than deal with this mess!

There is a Copper IUD which does NOT have chemicals in it. It lasts for ten years. You may want to try that instead.

I love this video I'm the same height! I've been on the Mirena for over 2 yrs (sept 2009) and I had the tmi, heavy bleeding and about 10 lbs over weight gain but after about 6 months my body has adjusted to it and I have a lite period and I'm back to normal however I will say I have to work out to stay in a good weight range which for me is 140/145 I would def talk to my Dr though if the symptoms exceed 6 months hth ;-)

I know how you are feeling. I have the implanon(implant for women w/o kids) and experiencing the same symptoms. I've been it a few months now. Tried injections(gained a ton of weight) and the patch (made me sick). Not the pill(not good with remembering to take pills). I don't know what else to do. Good luck sweetie!

I was taking the pill for about 5 years and developed high blood pressure,weight gain,migraines,& heavy bleeding.I stopped the pill. After 2 children my husband & I decided that a bilateral tubal ligation(tubes tied) was thebest option for me. 2 years later I was pregnant again.Yes with my tubes being tied!This was an ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy in the tubes). I had to have surgery because if the fallopian tubes burst then it can result in death My advice to any woman is to not tie their tubes.

you should go and talk to your doctor. I read that it takes three months for your body to adjust to bc. I am on the pill I haven't had any weight gain from it. I know the only time i gained weight on the pill was when I skipped a period one month and took the pill for 2months straight. I will not ever do that again. Maybe mirena isn't right for you try something else.

I understand why people want to use contraceptives and the whole 9....I've been on the pill, but some of theses contraceptives (or menstrual yields) are just not natural. All this stopping your period and changing up you natural biology can't be good. Be careful with this stuff ladies.

You do know that the pill stops ovulation and therefore stops your period don't you? The period you experience is actually withdrawal bleeding. That's just as unnatural.
