Em was never a fan of Jay-z,. Contemporaries is different from influence. Em was highly influenced by LL Cool J, Dre and beastie Boys. How can he be a fan of Jay-z, they both started about the same time. Em released "Inifinite" in 1995, Jay released "Reasonable doubt" in 1996. They are peers, thats a better word to use. Btw, Em only said that on "Till i collapse" and he mentioned many other names like tupac, nas, Big..etc. Jay also applaud Em on "A star is Born". They are peers.
