  • @Tio2006 Yah that funny batman,s Penguin did not think of that when I put the hat on thanks my friend. c]:-)

  • umm.. his name was mitch mitchell.. not mitcham...

  • @aektzis91 yes my friend I wish I could say everything correctly but you do know who I was talking about however.I will remember not to say his name wrong again LOL. All of them will be missed. Thank you for your comment. c]:-)

  • Thanks, great story.

  • That was a great story.

  • Spiffy hat dude.

  • Thank you. c]:-)

  • Huh..whata ya know...didn't know all that....very interesting...

  • I dont know why I just watched this video but im glad I did.. you.. I must say are a very cool guy, plus I dig the hat ;)

party on! and may the force be with you

btw Im gonna run out to my local guitar store and buy me a Dunlop jimi hendrix FF it may not have germanium transistors but it'll have to do :)

  • @atli94 Thank you my friend you will not be unhappy with the new one it is very very close to how the old ones sounded. c]:-)

  • I agree about the tempermental comment about these early fuzz faces. IT goes both ways temperature wise. I have trouble

during winter when playing in rooms that are anywhere that the temp of the room is around 60 deg to like 68. Then it needs to warmer for it to clean up well and not be to fuzzy. Where as when it is to warm ie outside on a hot august day if the fuzz gets to hot it just stops working or has very little fuzz. Total pain in the ass but when right it sounds amazing.

  • is your mom still alive? btw... kool piece of history there...

  • @Mastahboys No died 25 years ago and the info I got was from a special edition guitar player magazine from friends he knew well. Thanks for the comment.

  • your a lucky man and its great to see a original owner with original gear keep rockin

  • @catfishanthony thanks my friend I wanted to play through it but it is not working correctly at this time but I will Thanks. c]:-)

  • What saddens me is that this guy first talks about how jimi would do stuff as if he was there personally, while he can't even spell the Experience drummers name at 3:14.. (It's John "Mitch" Mitchell (a.k.a. "queen bee") btw..and yes.. what's a strattlecaster?? Sjeesh..He still has a great pedal though...if it sounds good!

  • Yes I am sad my self at how stupid I am. Thank you my friend for the comment.

  • strattlecaster

  • So clean it's not there, sounds straight in. You can step on it before soloing and no one knows until up dial up the volume then they sing! They have to be first in the chain due to impedance mismatches. A 500 k pot as a volume pot on the guitar helps. Good luck

  • But the enemy is heat.If they get then too warm they sputter. Many pros bring can air to cool them down on hot days. Cesura Diaz bought several from me only germanium. he would talk about how they would wake up after 5 minutes of playing with all kinds of overtones. The 1st transistor has to be slightly lower in gain for these guys to sound good. Best with single coiled pick ups. A good one will clean up by dialing down the volume on the guitar about a third of the way.

  • I have had many fuzz faces over the years maybe 30. I was into the vintage thing way back before the internet and let me tell you the gospel. Germanium not germain are temperamental. They do sound better after being played for some time.

  • Where the Silicon transiter Fuzz Faces developed in late 1969 ,where these developed with Jimi Hendrix in mind by Dallas Abiter?

  • Hi, cool vid and that is awesome you got that when your where a kid. Check out analogman nkt-275 sunface it is the best fuzz face replica out there using orginal nos british nkt-275 transisters. Check out my vid using the new hendrix fuzz torwards the end of it. They did a alright job on it, but i like the analogman way better

  • its nice to hear you say strattlecaster instead of stratocasters. i want a strattlecaster too.

  • Yes I am working on this problem LOL I do say a lot of things incorrectly. Its funny how I do that. Hope you get one soon. they make them pretty good these days. thanks for the comment and the rating. vazkilzan I appreciate that. take care my friend. c]:-)

  • I like this guy,he explaine this thing real good,i don't if carbon batteries are being made much these days? But there is an alkaline battery, i find does real good,i wont give the brand name,i will say the brand begins with a D and ends in a L. I find with these fuzz faces that has germanium transitors, that when i start play through it at first it starts out dark and muddy sounding, but the longer i play the guitar through it the brighter the fuzz sound, and the dark and muddy sound gets less.

  • this is very true I will be making another video soon. the fuzz face I have has been trough hell and needs to be cleaned up I use to kick that unit all over the place. When I was younger I use to think it was broken. by the way the new re issued Hendrix FF pedal is as close as it gets. Look inside. Thanks Jerry for your comment and rating. Appreciate it. c]:-)

  • 1dockthorwho23 when you make the video on how to use this fuzz face let us know,i wont to hear it,I like the hat, have a good day 1dockthorwho23.

  • trying to look too original, makes you look too original...

  • I havent heard about warming them up before, I have heard about the Ge transistors sounding/behaving differently at different ambient temperatures..... how would you go about warming them up ?.. just playing thru 'em? or could you just leave it turned on for a while? how long?... (the reason I ask is 'cos I've been collecting N.O.S. components and am soon gonna start building my own repro F.Face)...wish I owned an original too... LUCKY YOU!!

  • Will to be honest with you the article I read did not go into to detail about how to warm them up but I remembered that the unit did take a while before it stopped acting up. What you are saying makes A lot of sense to me about ambient temperatures. I recall that the colder it was the more longer it took to sound consistent I am making a video comparing my fuzz face with the roger mayer rocket FX repro you will be surprised.

  • lets hear it!!

  • I am going to do that And I have an surprise You might get a kink out of but I have to set it up. I will try to put it up this week .Thanks for your input.

  • but why would certain strats sound better than others i thought they make them exactly the same at the factory?

  • interesting question and the answer is simple. just like how a car is made with in tolarents nothing is really exactly made the same they can come close to specs but not exactly. each wood has different dencity even though it is the same type of wood. thats way a lot of guitar player will try out a few of the same guitars till they find the one that sounds the best.

  • and also, alot of factors go into making a good sounding strat, but one thing we cant control perfectly, is the wood used, we may cut them the same shape and size, but as you noe trees dont all grow the same, so the timber used, may have some different densities, and different grain for each strat, causing them to sound different. also the necks are shaped by people, so neck thickness varies as well, and pickups back then were wound by hand

  • oh i see, good point guys
