Also, Germany makes it easy to taste all kinds of beer wherever they come from (or beer like substances), while most other countries just have their own stuff. 5 min away is a supermarket where I can choose between a wide variety of international beers....
@methanbreather The "standards" you're referring to are the Reinheitsgebot or German beer purity order. This was repealed a long ago and many German beers such as wheat beers would not conform to it either in any case. At the same time, many Belgian beers would and are therefore "beer" by any standard you wish to name apart from your own random uneducated bullshit. I myself am partial to some Czech beers that would also conform, but that's a whole other post.
Besides, the points are that belgian beers are 'mixtures' more often than not - like added fruits or liquors - and the great thing about Germany is that you can easily get beer from everywhere. Which was not true for Belgium, Denmark or Czech Republic when I visited those countries.

This guy and the girl are talking about of what is called "imminent" meaning, for instance, I find it meaningful to be a parent, to be a friend, to play the piano, these activities are completely subjective and yet they lack any purpose (transcendence). Purpose pertains to a generalized intention to accomplish something that is at once meaningful to the self and of consequence to the world beyond the self...

i dont even think you have to go as far as to find a resolution if youre doing something because you enjoy doing it and someone else happens to find it offensive or whatever. its like with drugs, i like taking hallucinogens from time to time but a lot of people frown upon it and say dismissive things like "just say no". if they find drugs offensive, but my motivation for doing them has nothing to do with offending anyone, then as far as im concerned THEY are the ones who have the problem, not me

Sounds to me like a person using a lot of buzz words/phrases that sound virtuous via being "open minded" but given almost zero thought as to what any of it actually means. Seems a common condition. Advice. If you want to practice philosophy or be a navel gazer, examine what it is you a saying BEFORE you say it. Otherwise you end up sounding very foolish.

@MrMZaccone well, you call that belgish mixture 'beer'. There are some high standards in Germany about 'beer'. Most beligian 'beers' fail on them. So from a certain point of view, whatever they sell there might be tasty, but it is not beer.
Also, Germany makes it easy to taste all kinds of beer wherever they come from (or beer like substances), while most other countries just have their own stuff. 5 min away is a supermarket where I can choose between a wide variety of international beers....

@methanbreather The "standards" you're referring to are the Reinheitsgebot or German beer purity order. This was repealed a long ago and many German beers such as wheat beers would not conform to it either in any case. At the same time, many Belgian beers would and are therefore "beer" by any standard you wish to name apart from your own random uneducated bullshit. I myself am partial to some Czech beers that would also conform, but that's a whole other post.

Besides, the points are that belgian beers are 'mixtures' more often than not - like added fruits or liquors - and the great thing about Germany is that you can easily get beer from everywhere. Which was not true for Belgium, Denmark or Czech Republic when I visited those countries.

@MrMZaccone yes it does. Since 1516 wheat beer was allowed. And from the first time the Reinheitsgebot became law for all of Germany wheat was an allowed ingredient. Please, read up on the things you don't know, ok?
And a beer that includes cherries, is not a beer. But again, I did not claim that Germany was a good place for beer lovers because of the local variants but because it is easy to get all kinds of beer from all kinds of countries. And now go to wikipedia.

@methanbreather Sorry, NO. The Reinheitsgebot specified water, BARLEY and hops. Look up why the law was enacted in the first place and you'll see why. Perhaps you need to read instead of trying to just BULLSHIT your way through. You're also presenting a strawman argument. I never said cherries, I simply said Belgium and there are plenty of Belgian beers with nothing but water, barley and hops. So when you want to quit being an UNEDUCATED ASS ... post back.
