I am a liberal and all, definitely against the war. But if I could make a suggestion which I think would get more "regular" people there is some decent looking girls. The theme and message is right on, however the girls repping it are BEASTS. Fix that up a little and you will be on your way to a great little rally!
World Against War -- join the global demonstration March 15th
Please join us, tell your friends, workmates and neighbours and make sure that on Saturday March 15 George Bush and Gordon Brown cannot ignore the fact that the world is against their wars.
my brother Peter is in national guard and is coming home in early august 2007 to go BACK to train for the rangers i wonder why our soldiers the ones that die for us would want to go back hmm maybe they see something worth there to fight for and quite frankly im sick of people bashing Bush and God thank you guys for making this video
It's nice to see the unemployed get outside to enjoy the fresh air. Shame though, they can't use their pent up energy to find a job like the rest of us.
Fact is that the majority of protesters are a combination of the unemployed, poor, homeless, and uninformed students that have nothing better to do. Those are the facts. The trouble makers are also easy to spot since they are the ones cowardly covering their faces. Come to think of it, so do terrorists.
But of course, the mere obvious is too much for some people to handle, since "facts" only matter if it suits your agenda.
Show me these facts, please. You are so sure that these are the real facts, so there must be sufficient evidence to back up your assumption, correct? I await the proof that will back up your unfounded 1960's right-wing ideology.
Protestors with even half a brain cover their faces, as there's a long history of both the cops and right-wing groups (largely but not entirely the far-right neo-fascist groups) taking pictures and videotaping protests, then harassing and even assaulting and beating protestors unwise enough to march without covered faces.
It isn't about "cowardice". It's about not getting beaten or knifed days or weeks later.
With the right to demonstrate comes the responsibility to behave. Its amazing that such people feel they have the right to disobey the police and spray grafitti on the capitol. I'm not against peaceful demonstrations (which these people would not have the luxury of in Iraq amongst other places). However future demonstrations should not be allowed without the organizers putting up surety which would be forfeited to pay for damages caused by the people they bring to town.
Not everyone can be held responsible for the actions of the few. When stories of US soldiers raping young women come out, where are you then? Do you blame ALL the troops for that? And what about killing innocent civilians and robbing the people of Iraq? Do you hold ANY soldiers responsible for that or are you too busy ripping on those good Americans exercising their right to free speech?
The few soldiers who stepped out of line dishonored their uniform and are being held accountable. You are obviously a serious Koolaid drinker. I didn't see many good americans in the video. I saw pampered schoolkids mainly. When I march to protest something I don't need to cover my face. God Bless America
Maybe the music selection might reflect you image of school kids however, the images themselves demonstrate your preconceived notion of radical politics. You don't cover your face because you have been weakened with prolefeed...you are no threat. God have mercy on your soul.
Something very symbolic happened that day. More people realized that they can overcome the cops. They were pretty lenient that day, however one victory is enough to inspire many more.
You know back when we took over Seattle, DC cops got rough with us when we went there. These guys who broke through the fence only made our next time very rough they will have 3 times the cops next time.
We need to educate more protestors in black bloc tactics then...the cops that grabbed several of the cops could have easily been over taken...the only reason they got free was because of our numbers.
How about that Jerry Adams, famed UK welfare recipient and front man for Sinn Fein?
My main bemusement is how entirely out of touch some members of the Left have remained. They make puppets, They drum. They make puppets. They drum.
The Capitol Police no longer make crowd counts (Calypso Louie scared them out of that) but the Post declared the anti-war crowd "under 100,000." As far as I can tell...no estimate for the anti-abortion march...which was also large.
i was there it was amazing....its sad ppl on here dont get it...9/11 was an inside job....the federal reserve is a private corporation...we need to take out govt back.period.
You guys are a bunch of fucking morons, tell you what, once you vote then you can bitch and moan.
Also, do you not notice the glaring stupidity in having someone in the video claim "the police are being aggressive", then bragging about "where they broke past police lines".
They didn't actually let us through, I had a cop's hand on my throat. I had another cop push me back several feet using a motorcycle. Don't suppose things that you didn't witness
I don't believe anyone at that march tried to put the experience of american affluence on level with extreme poverty and disempowerment of the "third world". No one needs this bashing. Keep your pedantry at home ass. Its not activism for the sake of activism, its activism to better the world, its an attempt to affect change, more than could ever be said of the bitter Youtube brouser.
Way to correct my spelling after i called you a pedant. People posting here ought to realize that not everyone involved in that march was an anarchist, not everyone in that group believed the same things(imagine that, 300 people and they don't all hold the same ideological beliefs). Don't tell me to vote, I voted but it was useless since the only candidates who actually have a shot are choosen by the coorporations.
that is such a lie... they did let some of us through. that part is true. but they didn't say we could be arrested for trespassing cause in fact we couldn't be arrested because the capitol lawn is Public property. the lawn remained in public hands all throughout the day. many of us had lunch on the grass, it was quite a beautiful day for January.
most of the police were nice, it was only a few of them who decided to be assholes and tried to block the way. but all in all it was very peaceful.
Martin Luther King and Gandhi never needed to cover their faces. Masks are for criminals and hate groups like the Klan... and the spoiled trustfund college students who emulate them.
I'm not sure what is more obsured, you comparing Martin Luther King and Gandhi to the Black Pathers or you comparing the Black Pathers to a bunch of priviledged white kids who think anarchy would be really cool.
when the government keeps files on demonstrators (or on anyone), we are already tagged as criminals. with this in mind, it is a very good idea to protect your identity.
i wasnt aware that anything was wrong with having a mom or dad. but biked their from philly and met a group that had driven a school bus that they converted to burn vegetable oil. you are right it was refreshing to see local people who were just going about their day to join us (some that that could have been wearing shoes that like almost all shoes are made in sweatshops). Perhaps if you disagree with what happend you should make an intelgent argument instead of your pitifull comeback.
It is so refreshing to see the youths in their urban outfitter, abercrombie & Fitch, and Nike out braving the barricades fighting for truth, justice, and no trans fat in Starbucks muffins
Tell me kids, did Mom drive you to the protest in her new SUV?
good video montage. though it is mislabeld. the SDS and youth contigent did not join untill after the brave anarchists broke thrugh the police baricade. (thanks for the credit though) the sds bloc got their after the fence was broken. if only more had come sooner mabey the people could have enterd their "own" capital building
It is somewhat mislabeled. It was not only SDS folk. The call for a radical contingent was put out by HCC-SDS, however. Also, as both a brave anarchist who broke through police barricades and a card-carrying SDS member, I marched from Dupont Circle with a number of SDS comrades and these same folk were at my side when we were on the front lines breaking through the police lines. Give credit where credit is due.
Holy crap, that's me giving the double peace sign at 1:07 in this clip...

The Capitol Police LET you through (sadly) to avoid the nation seeing what they supposed might be true bravery amongst the anarchists.

Actually "Brave Anarchist," a hand on the throat and a "motorcycle push" doesn't add up to most definitions of courage.
You do know you won the lottery by being born in the USA, fat and happy and free to indulge your adolescent
ventures in political activism?
There are many living persons who know the wages of courage in a truly repressive atmosphere.
"Hand on your throat?" Hah! Better than a mass grave in any of a dozen areas of this old world.
