  • I like your swing it's unique and workable. However many of the golf criticizers because its not what there use to, most of their comments will be negative . I prefer to see your swing as something positive. If it works that suggest to me that you have a clear understanding of impact position. Different strokes for different folks. Can you post another video and verbally explain what you are doing?

  • @sifurick123 I have already on my channel. Plug in "Revolutionary Golf Swing Explained - Hammer Man Lavery"on Youtube search engine and you will find the video. Thanks for your comments and interest in my swing concepts. Check out my book Whole Brain Power.

  • the only thing different is you let go with one hand AFTER you hit the ball... so wtf dose it have to do with were the ball goes.....

  • @curtswangs Good question.

  • @curtswangs Because the time the club is released varies from shot to shot. Sometimes its after, sometimes it is too soon which affects the angle of the club head.

  • I'm sure you're hitting the ball straight man but that is not a repeatable swing for most people..I think its obvious that you're somewhat of an ex-athlete and the swing you have is founded on your athleticism..Letting go of the club? Are you fighting a hook or something? I mean its great if it works for you but that is not a swing you teach to people

  • @dukane14 I am hitting the ball straight with this swing. I used to play lots of baseball and used the one handed release in my swing. In my early 40's after a back injury I started to hit this way and it works very well for me. I would not recommend this swing for others because for most they do not have the ability to pull of the move. It also takes lots of strength in the left wrist, forearm and shoulder. Thanks for your comment.

  • whata joke look at all the pros you willl never see this

  • You might be interested to know—On page 104 of this month's issue of Golf Digest (August 2011) teaching professional Rick Smith suggests (as a drill) to drop off the right hand as you are coming into impact to get the sensation of what full extension should feel like as your left side leads through impact.

  • @fayette202 Thanks for pointing this information out to me._Hammer

  • OMG that is one ugly swing. This swing is complete bullshit. What a joke! When you setup with your hands this far from the body you are forced to limit your backswing length or you will swing down Outside-In (a slice or shank producing swing). You can only hit straight shots with this swing if you unnaturally limit your backswing length. As soon your backswing length control gets away from you the swing will break down. Bullshit swing.

  • @golfswingfixer You have no idea of what I can do with a golf ball.

  • @wholebrainplanet If your so good then what's your name and what tour do you play on?

  • @golfswingfixer

    LOL FAIL!!

  • OMG that is one ugly swing. This swing is complete bullshit. What a joke!

  • @golfswingfixer Please explain to me why is matters how the swing looks?

  • Only one thing matters in the golf swing and that's what position you are at halfway down. Everything else is relatively meaningless. Even though this guy is unorthodox he's in a great position in the slot although he's bringing alot of timing into the equation with all that movement.

  • @sleestak33 Thanks for your input. You are correct about the timing issue because of the extra movement.

  • fair enough.

  • On your first fairway wood you looked at the flag, the same flag you hit your iron to, but your shot went way right. Your method does allow your club to exit on plane with your shoulder. I guess whatever works & feels the best to you, good luck.

  • @holyghost61 You cannot tell what my ball flight is doing. It starts out right but it draws back. I only post drives that I consider to be good shots. When you see me hit the ball in person you will understand what I am capable of doing. Thanks for your comments.

  • This looks great! I can't wait not to use it!

  • Go tiger!

  • but if it works i cant sit here and say that it doesnt, so good luck

  • it works, i guess, but you were pushing your drive and your fairway woods way over at the beginning

  • @sjsammio You cannot tell the ball flight from the video. They were not pushing way over as you commented. I only posted really good shots.

  • @wholebrainplanet really, cuz i saw where your feet where aimed to and your ball went to the right of that at the beginning

  • @FunnyGolfChannel I enjoy the uniqueness of my swing and I get results with the one handed release. I still will hit with two hands on the club when I want to use the normal method. Thanks for your interest.

  • Wonder how many times someone in your foursome gets nailed by a club slipping out of the hand

  • @PhatElvis7 It never has slipped out of my hand because of my left hand grip strength. Thanks for your concerns.

  • hmm.. is this baseball inspired? :P Well if it works it works ;)

  • @mactobbe That is correct and it does work. Thanks for your comment.

  • Moe Norman???

  • @Hexznutznig Moe Norman passed away.

  • @wholebrainplanet I know, just looks like a Moe Norman swing, should have clarified that.

  • @Hexznutznig I appreciate the compliment. Norman really used Centrifugal Forces to hit the ball.

  • I would say the side view of driver sequences (later in vid) your impact position and the whole transition into it is as good, pure and powerful as things could get. Perfect.

  • @4JRimmer I appreciate that you recognize the impact position that happens in my swing. As you can see the right foot slides up even before the ball is struck thus shifting total weight to the left side. This is one of my power secrets._Hammer

  • @wholebrainplanet

I have a conventional swing (angeled hinging, one plane), with very much emphasis on lateral motion in downswing, and I create power very much in same style as you :)

A tad longer backswing though ;)

Not trying to be wise, but I know why you pulled that pw/9-iron from dtl (you pull all shorter irons?) ;)

  • @4JRimmer I am open to your observations. And no I do not pull my shorter irons. In fact at the time of this video my clubs were 2.5 inches over standard with lots of lead tape. I have since gone back to 1/2 inch over standard and removal of the lead tape. This really has helped straighten out my ball flight.

  • Seeing it a third time, I figure it's a 56 wedge(?)

  • @4JRimmer It is a gap wedge (53).

  • What makes that swing work is good plane, square face (true square to shaft plane), good lateral motion, and good order of sequence. It may look bad, but all essentials for power and accuracy is there.

  • @4JRimmer Thanks for your comments. My swing is different so people confuse it with bad. People are so conditioned to look for the beauty of a golfer's swing and then more often than not, they spend way too much time looking for their ball in the bushes.

  • That movement - how awkward it may look - contains a huge amount of *good* things to implement in a more conventional golf swing. Great vid man.

  • @4JRimmer Thanks for REALLY looking at my unusual golf swing methods. If you study the amount of ground forces and linear forces that I utilize you will understand where the power is coming from considering the extremely short backswing. The shallowness of the downswing is what Moe Norman was after and this is what I strive for as well. I appreciate your input._Hammer

  • So once you have hit the ball, what control over the ball do you have?????? None. Baseball is not golf. Sp why don't you tell Tiger to do it then or any of the top 50 tour players???. Silly

  • @golfswingtigerwhite I have plenty of controI of my shots. I never said baseball was golf. I was just talking about the arc being greater. I really have no intention of having anyone use my one handed release golf swing method. I rather enjoy the uniqueness of my style and that it works for me.

  • mmmmmm,if you think letting go of the club after the ball is 40 yards in the air is going to make a difference then you got anouther think coming. Once you have hit the ball at impact thats it the ball has gone. So letting go of the club after impact wont make a difference.

  • @golfswingtigerwhite Letting go creates a bigger arc so it does affect the ball. That is why in baseball they release the top hand.

  • BTW DID U GIVE YOURSELF THAT NICKNAME . . . . "HAMMER"?

  • @jonniefeeney The nickname comes from my ability to bounce golf balls off a whole array of hammers. My best records are 7148 times in a row off a 16 ounce claw hammer. Off a 24 ounce ball peen hammer it is 395 times.

  • ID SAY THIS SWING WORKS WELL FOR A FINESSE LOB SHOT OVER A TREE LOL GOLF ISNT BASEBALL DUDE.

  • @jonniefeeney Never said it was. I was just talking about swing arc.

  • Did you swing like this when you started playing golf or have you worked with it?

  • @TheOiabolo I started out with a conventional swing. Then I thought about using my baseball skills with a one handed release. The golf club goes so much further out to the target line this way. This swing works for me but it takes time to build up the strength in the left shoulder, arm, wrist and hand. So be careful if you try it. _Hammer

  • @wholebrainplanet I think i stay with my ordinary swing :)

  • @TheOiabolo That is a wise choice.

  • Mr. Hogan said," there is no right way to swing a golf club". All the best!

    Max

  • @GivathBrenner The ball only reacts to the physics that are applied to it. Thanks for your comments. _Hammer

  • This chap is clearly nuts.....

  • @BigColsey Are you a doctor?

  • what exactly are you claiming this does? i've heard arc mentioned, but as it happens after the ball is hit, then there is absolutely no affect on power, it has to happen before the ball is hit, p.s good luck on the rehab from the rotator cuff surgery

  • @trevorjones001 Study the modern day baseball swing. It is the one pioneered by Charlie Lau. They have done numerous studies about why almost all power hitters in baseball release the top hand. The post strike path of the baseballl bat absolutely has an influence on what the ball does. The same is true in golf. My baseball experience allows me to do this move in golf. Why is it that baseball hitters are not having rotator surgery with their technique of their one handed release? Hammer

  • Happy Gilmore can drive that shit 400 yards and make golf entertaining. I would actually watch golf if there was a player like him

  • everyone has there own swing. There's not really a set swing anymore.

  • @topsykrietts Great insight.

  • It's like trying to emulate Moe Norman, but with a sway in there through impact. BS!

  • @simonkas3m I know that my one handed finish causes lots of people to be critical. But the arc I get is really big and the distance and accuracy are very good too. I like doing it my way. Thanks for the comment. _Hammer

  • @simonkas3m My drives can have a high launch angle. Otherwise, I can control the height of my shots. _Hammer

  • As long as he hits it straight nobody can argue.

  • @ALLTHETIME43 Thanks for your input _Hammer

  • even a broken clock is right twice a day. Just cuz it works, doesnt mean its effective. If i shorten all of my swings, im more accurate too, not that much of a secret. but hey, keep at it if it works for you. as far as someone comparing to people back in the day, i mean "c'mon man".

  • @jbobz You have no idea of what I can do with a golf ball. My golf swing is extremely effective. _Hammer

  • what ever floats your boat i guess but that swing is not for me

  • @dcsilva10 I never said this swing was for anyone else. I posted it because it is unusual and it works for me. _Hammer

  • For everyone making fun of this guy, he gets all the necessary positions dead on and in a very consistent manner. And, I bet he can out ball strike 99% of the people making comments on here. Keep puring it man. Let them laugh on the tee. You'll be the one laughing in the fairway.

  • @OnePlaneSpartan329 Thanks for your comments. I am having fun with my unusual swing and can take it to the course with success. That's what matters most to me._Hammer

  • i used to swing like that. my new coach hates it and it feels so weird to swing with my left foot planted now.

  • @reedsheldon88 Look at Bobby Jones and a host of other players from the past that lifted their left heel and they were great golfers._Hammer

  • wtf

  • He slices it every time plus if he was in a tournament people would be like what the fuck was that?!?

  • @jbaytheman44 Sorry to say that you do not know what you are talking about. _Hammer

  • Sieht so aus als ob der Ball mit dieser "Technik" leicht nach rechts verzieht...

  • I've got to admit you've crafted some gorgeous paintings, very impressive skill in that regard. btw what's your handicap?

  • @jamesi34 Thanks for your comments about my paintings. As for an index, I am not carrying one at the present. If you want to find out more about my unusual skills at golfing do a Google search of the Hammer Man Of Golf. Southland Golf ran a good story. Also check out the article that was in the Orange County Register. My book Whole Brain Power is also starting to gain momentum._Hammer

  • Comment removed

  • @jamesi34 You are mistaken. But thanks for your input._Hammer

  • hey, i think your golf swing is great. don't listen to the haters. they're obviously envious.

  • @SartenSpartan Thanks for your support._Hammer

  • so your playing baseball with a golf club??

  • @sickstix182 No I am playing golf using my athletic skills and some of those include baseball with a one handed release. Thanks for commenting. _Hammer

  • You just look like a dope. Someone who is pretend golfer would put this on you tube and expect a response ......

    TW

  • @larive4358 Thanks for taking the time to comment on my video._Hammer

  • for those of you who are making negative comments about this swing...think; Furyk, Palmer, Trevino, Chi Chi, and the one and only Moe Norman. You think you can make fun of these guys? Well they would have your lunch with their swing. And that to name but a few. This works for this man and he is just sharing it with you. Maybe you can pick a part of it to improve your game. Maybe not.

It reminds me of almost a form between the one plane swing and the conventional swing. Thanks for posting

  • @MrDoobie834 I enjoyed your angle about the swings that do not fit "THE MOLD."

The bottom line for me is that I am having fun with my approach to hitting a golf ball. Thanks for your comments._Hammer

  • Anybody can hit with a driver when the ball is 3" up off the tee. Lets see you do that swing with a long iron in a bad lie

  • @Gyro911 Hey thanks for your input. _Hammer

  • There's zero benefit of letting the club go at the end, its obviously a personal preference, everything else is a normal, aggressive swing, good contact position, compact backswing, nothing revolutionary about it.

  • @drgolfcoach The cub stays on the target line much longer and the arc that I get is also bigger in my opinion. It is similar to the argument about baseball hitters. Why do the big power hitters release the top hand? Thanks for your comments. _Hammer

  • looks like a good way hyperextend your elbow on 18 needing birdie. i bet if you held on with both hands in a balenced finish for a month youd shave 10 bogeys off your round.

  • @ifilive My elbow feels fine. Baseball players swing with a one handed release with no problem.

I also use a combination of swings, with some of them having two hands on the club. Thanks for your comments. Hammer

  • what the point of letting go?

  • It's a baseball swing. That's it ppl, no big deal.

  • @SellTheBenefits Thanks for your input.

  • swing at 1:30 looks just like Villegas, except of course he doesn't let go of the club at the end, but the ball is already gone by that point.

    Very good swing!

  • @tonybonez Hey, thanks for the comments. Hammer

  • Not the most attractive swing on the block, but whatever works. Right?

  • @slapstik89 The ball does not care what my swing looks like. Thanks for your input. Hammer

  • This reminds me of Moe Norman. It looks a little funny but it really is fundamentally sound and simple. One plane . Moe had a lotta of that latteral motion. I think a swing like this is great for guys built like you. Wide. Moe Norman Lee Trevino. Your in good company

  • @billygolfs50 You get what I am doing with my swing. My build suits my style. The lateral movement is also a big factor. Thanks for your comments. Hammer

  • Technically you can swing a club any which way you want... Just as long as its efficient and the face is square at impact.

  • @ERICTLG I tend to agree with you. Hammer

  • What a pure swing. Can you come around to my place, I've got some trees I need felled ;-)

  • @madaekror People from Australia do have a sense of humor. Hammer

  • stop playing golf , baseball would be better

  • @sunny8562 thanks for your advice. Hammer

  • all this is is a modified version of moe norman's golf swing. you can call it whatever you want but its still copying. really the only difference between that swing and moe is you take your left arm off the club and that moe hit it about a thousand times better. but close buddy, copy someone else

  • @brockc86 Thanks for your fantastic input. Hammer

  • There are literally thousands of revolutionary golfswings that work, however none of them as in NONE are making millions and contesting Tiger. 99.99 % of these weird swings are playing off a handicap of 15 and are looked up to by guys with a handicap of 22. This feeds their egos into believing that they are onto something. I 've seen a one armed golfer play to a handicap of 4 and hit it 230yrds off the tee.

Goodluck however with your moment of Eureka :-)

  • @BillKelly13 Thanks for your input. Hammer

  • nice very good swing :P

i might try it the next time i can go golfing :P

and maybe be as good as you

  • the only way to lower scoring that is available to all golfers no matter what thier tee to green game is is your putting,, check out the J-roll putter, google it, its amazing,

  • This is only a gimmick. Not workable swing, sorry.

  • @hyndzy It may not work for you but it does work for me and that is all that matters. Hammer

  • you are gonna get hamerd with bad comments if you put videos on like this. For a swing i say NO NO NO NO NO NO, maybe a drill, a drill to help you quit golf.

  • @harryc44u Hey thanks for your opinion. The swing works for me and that is all that matters.

    Hammer

  • @wholebrainplanet Oh really, what's your clubhead speed and ball speed with a driver? Just saying "it works" doesn't actually mean anything. Do you think that Jamie Sadlowski would hit it farther if he switched to your method?

  • @smithersandburns I have been clocked at 120 mph pus. 175 mph ball speed. Consistent launch angle of 17 degrees and extremely low ball spin rates of under 2000 rpms. Sometimes 1000 rpms. Study up on ball flight dynamics and you will understand why my swing works for me. I swing the heaviest driver club of any golfer too. G7 swing weight. No to your question of should Sadlowski use my method. Jamie's swing works for him and my swing works for me. Thanks for your comments. Hammer

  • @wholebrainplanet Study up on ball flight dynamics? Why would you pretentiously assume I need to do that? Because you can't explain why your swing "works"? I already swing faster and hit it farther than you do btw and you are definitely not swinging over 120 in this video. Probably 105 or 110 to be nice. Jamie Sadlowski doesn't use your method because he already has a better method. But if you like it by all means have fun with it and good luck selling your stuff.

  • @smithersandburns Thanks for your comments. Hammer

  • I just can't see you being accurate with your wedges. Distance control can't be that good.

  • Hey Motzie. How's it goin? I was wandering around YT and saw a familiar swing. Next time talk a bit about what you are doing with the swing, and throw in some of those golf club bounces.

  • @stevebee92653 Hey Steve, thanks for checking out my swing. I hope you are still doing well in your golf game. I have lots of other videos where I do the golf ball bouncing and the hammer drills too. Motzie

  • @wholebrainplanet Hey motzie. Glad you recognized. My claim to fame is I got a Hole in 1 a month ago. I'm sure you have many. But one is sure fun. My first and probably last. #4 at Ar Tr. 195 yards. Me a 5 wood. You a pitching wedge I would bet.

This vid doesn't show how far you hit the ball. If people knew, they wouldn't believe it. Folks, I am a witness: Over 325 is cake for this guy. So don't worry about him "hurting himself".

  • @stevebee92653 Hey Steve, with your biography on your channel I figured it couldn't be anyone else but you. Good to hear about your hole in one.

Thanks for the testimonial about my distance too. It's OK for there to be doubters of what I am capable of doing with my unusual swing. Most people need a course in physics to understand what MOI and muscle density have to do with the equation of my ball compression. Hammer

  • careful you don't hurt yourself pal...

  • @djmac100 If you are talking about my one handed release, it never has been a problem for my shoulder. I used to play lots of baseball and this is how I swung a baseball bat too. Lots of baseball players from all skill levels release the top hand. Thanks for your concerns. Hammer

  • @wholebrainplanet I wasn't trying to be facetious, sorry! It just looks like the momentum of the club is going to pull your arm out of it's socket when you let go ...but you're obviously strong enough to deal with it.

If you're into long driving contests and enjoy bashing it at the range, it is certainly a powerful move! It doesn't look like a swing for playing golf with though, no offence Hammer.

  • @djmac100 Thanks for your comments again. No worries about your thoughts. This swing works for me on the golf course as well. I have practiced this swing so much that I feel very comfortable using this one handed release or my two hands on the club as well. My shoulder never has had any problems.

My of my techniques for training is bouncing golf balls off the face of a 16 pound sledge hammer. That is why they call me the "hammer man."

  • Walt Reneak swing.

  • @456max321 A man that knows his sports! Thanks for the comment. Hammer

  • isn't this a baseball swing adapted?

  • @plstrom No it's a golf swing with a one handed release. It is just the shortest backswing in the world approach. The weight that ison the head of the driver is significant so I get lot's of kick at the micro second before impact. Watch the shaft in slow motion. Hammer

  • first of all, i like golf because it looks really cool and luxury .

you know when pro swing a golf club they look so sexy...

but when i look at this hammering shit, it makes golf is the gayest sports ever.

if this golf siwng method is true, i'll just quit golf.

  • @boaluv1 My suggestion is that you stop watching my hammer techniques and go watch the pros and their sexy swings. I would not want you to quit golf. Thanks for your comments. Hammer

  • I don't care about the swing plane but u have no shape and body angle to even look like it is going to work. Go get a lesson off a real pro someone like gary edwin and remeber 2 hands for beginners.

  • @taylorcoopergolf Thanks for your concerns. Hammer

  • Mate u can't play golf with that move. R u even a golf pro and no way did that go 200 yards let alone 300. The amount of shift that u do is crazy. It looks like u are left handed on the back swing. I have been playing golf for 14 years and never have I seen anyone do it like that. U might and I say might be able to do it with the driver but there is no way that u will be able to do this with a lower club. What scores do u have?

  • @taylorcoopergolf Thanks for your comments. I am not going to change because I have fun at what I do. Good luck with your mission. Hammer

  • it's basically just a moe norman swing but you don't have the flexibility to comple the follow throuugh

  • @themothmanreturns Thanks for your thoughts on the matter. Hammer

  • it looks like you are playing t ball. only with a golf ball. If it is such good swing, why don't any of the pros use it? It looks more like Happy Gilmore modified. Your shoulders don't turn very far and all the power is from the shoulders not the body/ Have you checked the club head spee? IT can't be over 100.

  • @golf118now I do not have to turn the shoulders that far because of the technique that I use. I get lots of power from the body. Read the description. Hammer

  • I am a 0 handicap and an aspiring golf instructor can you please explain the key bio mechanics of the swing that make it a better choice then the conventional swing? On another note when you are on an uphill or downhill slope can u still perform the swing and create solid contact 99 out of a 100 times?

  • @mrjayfields11 I would suggest teaching the conventional swing. In order to let go off the club and hit as I demonstrate, one needs well trained forearms, wrists and hands. The reason I can create the distance is from the length and weight of the driver. I stand further off the ball than anyone that I am aware of and thus it is allowing for a huge arc. It's all in the description that I posted.

Yes, I can use my swing from different lies with very good success.

    Thanks for commenting. Hammer

  • so, just cuz you let got of the club with your right hand (which, I point out is AFTER the impact moment)...what the heck is revolutionary. Frankly, the swing looks a bit sloppy. I would love to see your short game. Can you hit the ball with an open stance from the sand?

  • very nice firm posted right leg, you get the shoulders turned behind the ball like Couples, head slide like Jack, good weight transfer starting with a replant of the left heel (a bit old fashioned, Sam Snead style, it works), head is solid at impact (like every pro and low handicap player).....

  • Sry, fella, nothing revolutionary here. The set up is fundamental, stance a little wide (helps fight 'over the top'), your grip is strong so you extend the arms to protect from the hook like Hogan (but that open face at the top is a little scary),

  • so, what do you do when there's a lefty pitcher? :-)

  • @shipuuga When I played baseball I used to love hitting against lefties. Hammer

  • i'd say its more of a swing that fits you and not many others, therefore not very revolutionary. if it works for you thats great, i myself have to put the bull on the toe of my club at alignment sort of like you but i follow through with two hands

  • @neil77fergy Just because there are no other people doing this type of swing with success does not negate the revolutionary aspects of my technique. Hammer

  • @wholebrainplanet I have been studying the swing for years & in my studies I started swinging like this years ago to show people power comes from speed not strength because E = mass x velocity squared. With speed not strength I can whip the club head through & hit my 7 iron 200+ yards letting go with my right hand at impact & letting the lest arm swing through & I weigh 148 lbs.

  • @mazdaspeedmx512lbs I would enjoy seeing a post of your 7 iron going 200+yards with the one handed release. Hammer

  • @wholebrainplanet OK i will try to make a video.

  • @mazdaspeedmx512lbs Thanks for making the effort. Hammer
