  • I love your interpretation!

  • thats sooo good! you talent!

  • Love your interpretation. Thank you for all the work you do as a "YouTube-teacher", and for your playing :-)

  • Ah, I love this piece.. I find it a great example for explaining what "Cantabile" sounds like. I feel some parts of your interpretation come out as a bit harsh, but maybe I'm just too used to Barenboim's version of it.

Trying to learn it myself as my first big project, but it has some pretty tricky to remember (sometimes seemingly random) intervals.

  • Thank you Andrew, i have given me inspiration to learn and play piano.

    Lots of thank from me

  • Do you have a CD? I would buy it.

    Twice.

  • WOW!!!

  • Hey Andrew, I would like to thank you very much for the videos that you have uploaded and created, as they are helping me to finaly play the piano which is some what a dream then and now slowly becoming reality.

Thank you once again, all the best

    Jacob Williams

P.S Can you please post some more videos of you playing!

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!<3

  • whoa......

  • I really like this. Im following your lessons at the moment. Really good work :)

  • very well played!

  • This song reminds me of a family enjoying Christmas Eve. Calming thought. ^_^

  • What's with the fire?

  • You play by touching the hearts. Keep going and enjoy some lovely music

  • I liked this more than many other Beethoven Pathetique's :)

  • WHY THE CAPS LOCK?

  • Your piano is on fire, it must have gotten pretty hott in there...i wonder if i light my piano on fire if I can pump out a sonata?

  • Why not play the 1st and 3rd movements which are far more entertaining?

  • also one of my favourite beethoven sonatas X

  • Wow, nice work. You were really on fire in that piece.

  • very good Lypur..

  • a bit to fast at some points, further nice performance

  • Looks like it was rather cold when you played this.

  • So beautiful !!

  • A little fast for my personal tastes, but beautifully done, nonetheless. Great technique and emotion.

  • Beautiful! i am learning piano from you, i'm trying to stick to it but i keep procrastinating, i really want to play though, i wish you were here to tell me off if i don't practise lol. So far i;ve only just got the stuff about chords though, i'm noting everything down as i go along :).

  • sublime

  • Oh man can u please tell me how'd you this cool effect on your please

    this krazy

  • I love the way you play this piece, I've heard many performances, by many famous pianists and I gotta say this is my second favorite of all.

  • @FustoltKalbasz wow, thanks! Might I ask who was your favorite?

  • @Lypur well thank *you* for showing us such a great performance! My all time favorite is the one by Daniel Baremboim. I'm not a professional or something and I don't analize techniques and stuff when I listen to music, but I do choose the pieces I listen to based on the way they make me feel and yours is one of the few that makes me "shiver", in a good way of course (: I like your style, you're my pianist idol, you could say haha.

  • I'm learning this right now! How long did it take you to learn it?

  • hey Andrew why is there different number of keys on different pianos and why?

  • wonderful playing, Beethoven is my best off composer!! :)

  • Lol, my dogs freak out when they hear this. Hahahahaha think that's their way of saying it rocks, that or they don't like it. Anyway piano that looks like it's engulfed in flames is awsome! Take care, love Beethoven. :)

  • He's showing off by playing a burning piano...

  • I feel so noob right now..

  • Funny you say you felt like it should be a string quartet. :) I played violin for several years and this was a song I worked on for solo with piano accompaniment. I'm self-taught piano with a whopping 2 weeks of real lessons under my belt. I hope someday I can play with such accuracy and attention to detail. Wish you were in Dallas! :(

  • Kitsch

  • damn youre on fire. :)

  • Luw that fire :)

  • Awesome. Thanks!

  • As his house burnt to the ground he decided to take the "down with his ship" approach and played his piano during his last moments.

  • good but a liitle to fast and not enough interpritation work on it :)

  • very lovely piece. i aspire to be as good as you one day sir.

  • Andrew, I don't know if you noticed...but your piano is on fire D:

  • the bass almost sounds like a harp lol

  • you are relly beethoven

are u beet hoven its great i love it and i can play it

but im not like u u are beter than me

    an uare th best

  • Good video, but you should maybe play it more slowly.

  • Studied yet nuanced contribution; burning flames of passion shine. Thank you, s

  • Very good performance and excellent sound. Great, great piano man!! I've found your site because of your reaction on Cubus.

  • @abrahammulder ^_^ haha thanks! You sounded somewhat angry or something when you replied to my comment the first time. :) but it was a fun discussion! Glad you enjoyed the video :) take care!!

  • @Lypur I was not angry, but it;s often the same discussion about digital piano's. I agree with Cubus that once the digital piano will become better than the acoustic piano. You can stop science and development.

  • @Lypur Many people proclaim to hear the difference between a digital and acoustic sound but many people made the mistake of their live. It;s easy to see a digital piano and proclaim to hear the difference. Not seeing the piano makes it somewhat more difficult. It;s true, the higher tones is often to hear in the cheaper models , but i'm sure that in the near future this problem wil be solved.

Yamaha has built a digital grand piano with the best piano sample on this moment.

  • My all time favourite piano piece. You play it so well, it's like a dream. Thank-you.

  • Could you do the 3rd movement to?

But only when you have the time for it ;-)

  • you're on fire ! haha hey i bought a midi keyboard and some software, and you are the best teacher on youtube ! I will be going thru all your lessons at my own pace, thank you so much for all of them

  • Comment removed

  • HE'S ON FUCKING FIRE!!!! HOLY SHIT HOW CAN HE PLAY?!?!?!

  • I agree with Franz Liszt. The flame is distracting ;-((

  • Hi from Brazil, Andrew!... I'm absolutely enchanted with the whole YOU! I mean, you're not only an authentic example of dedication and talent but also of the highest sensitivity and huge heart, helping out people learn with your peculiar and nice way of explaining theory the way you do. Totaly by chance I found you and I'm thinking seriously of following your lessons. I've taken some piano lessons when I was young and I still can poorly play part of Fur Elise. Maybe I can learn better now!...

  • tohle je lepší :)

  • Hi Andrew, I discovered you on Youtube last summer and bought a piano this summer. Have been practicing for a month now. When people ask me "Do you have a teacher?" I reply "I have a Youtube teacher and His name is Andrew Furmanczyk". Thank you soooooooooo much for inspiring me and teaching me to play piano. I have introduced you and your videos to lots of my friends.

  • @lauraguo1 :) Thanks!! Spreading the word helps my videos reach more people!!

  • Beautiful!!! Thank you very much! Zsuzsi

  • Nice, now 3 mvt..

  • your piano is on fire!

  • Oh my God, Andrew you're on fire!!!

    I'll save you!!

  • Hi, I am from India... I found out your videos purely by accident in youtube and I love them. I always wanted to play piano and I have bought a keyboard coz I can't afford a piano yet. I am going to learn from your series to play piano and music theory. I also watched some of your performances and they are top notch. Thanks for doing this!

    Peace,

    from India

  • Fantastisch!!!!

  • porfavor en tutorial!!

  • can you plaese take off that fire?

    -.-

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt how would i do that?

  • @Lypur I was joking, of course you can't do it now...

    but it's rather annoying!

  • @Lypur plz leave it, its awesome

  • @Lypur I don't really see much of a problem, it gives it more feeling and a visual approach to the video, and it goes perfectly with the music ^_'

  • @Lypur Pour water on it.

  • it's sposed to give you a kind of blurred feeling, no?

  • I love Beethoven

  • can u do a tutorial on this song?

  • how did u make Pathetique longer? i only have the short part..

  • AMAZING! What age did you start playing at?

  • you're the best

  • Very relaxing to listen to! Awesome channel too!

  • I'd love to see this one sanz the flames because your hands disappear behind the "special effect." I think it's important to show that with proper elbow/forearm control you have total control of the expression at 2:25-2:40. Young students think they have to BANG the keyboard to get that. Nope!

  • Thanks. SILLY comment: the vid would have been better if the piano hadn't caught fire!

  • This is my absolute favorite piece Beethoven wrote. I was lucky enough to hear it every week in performance class, played by the student learning to play it. ( She was brilliant).

  • Beautiful. I love hearing you play. And I like your 'wild' hair better. And that's coming from an old 'granny' LOL

  • Amazing. This is flawless. I wish I could play like you.

  • Thanks :) just took a lot of determination!

  • You are on of the most amazing pianist I've seen on YOUTUBE and I mean that!

you are also the best teacher he he he I love watching your videos!!

I subscribed your channels and sent a friend request please accept it!

keep it and we love you!

    always 5* for you Andrew!

  • I'm a bit disturbed that you're nonchalantly playing piano while your house is on fire. GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!

Despite being burnt to a crisp over the course of the piece, you did a fantastic job. :) You mentioned that you focused on the voicing, and you got that damn near perfect. And you have a much better handle on playing delicately than I do. Really well done.

  • :) thanks man! Took me YEARS of practise to be able to control the voicing the way I did. Sad thing is...horowitz still plays WAY better than I do, I've got lots more practising to do!

  • Beautifully played! Why not try the 1st and 2nd Movements? Please comment on my piano videos please! Thanks again

  • WOW you are such an amazing pianist!!

  • Thank you! :) ( I don't sound very amazing when i'm practising and there's mistakes left and right! haha)

  • why dont you play the 3 movement of the moonlight sonata ? I would very much apreciate to listen it from you

keep up the good work this was very nice

  • You play all those parts with the way they were intended .

    Very polished playing ......

    Dave .

  • :) thanks, i worked hard to get all the voices just right.

  • Hey, Thanks for taking the time to upload all these videos, you´re piano lessons have really helped me out. thanks!

  • Heard once the lyric to this, 2 years ago, who sang it?

"this time tonigth, its only you and I. Tomorrow, is a long time away, this night will last forever"

    pls help

  • Billy Joel sang it. It's called "This Night"

  • Amazing. Simply beautiful. :)

  • I very much enjoyed your interpretation of this piece. It's also my favorite Beethoven and I've wanted to learn this for years. I'm just now getting back into piano after not having access to one in over 15 years and I'm just barely into the first page but it's coming along. Hopefully one day I can play it half as good as you do here! ;) GREAT JOB! And thank you so very much for you tutorials. I've been going through them one by one as I relearn this amazing instrument. :)

  • Sounds good, but it looks as if you are playing in Hell.

  • You look so handsome in that schweataah :D

  • The music is good - but I rather listen than watching it. The burning fire is rather annoying.

  • Beautiful, but moonlight sonata has to be the best. The 3rd movement is breathtaking and well 1st one is just heavenly.

  • What can you say - something to aspire to ... ; - 0

  • thanks!!! :)

  • watch lypur's moonlight sonata too..it's very relaxing n sad..

  • i love pathetique too..i always cry for no reason everytime i play this song..it just so relaxing and kinda told me how important this life are...argh...basically pathetique is my no. 1 sonata ever..

  • it's a really beautiful sonata. ^_^

  • @tsubaki90 yes it is beautiful. I learned to play it when I was 11, it is still absolutely great.

  • wow this made me sleepy in the good kind of way, very relaxing

  • Very good. I love how people come on here come to you video and say go listen to Horowitz. Good job on the piece it is one of my favorites too. People that know anything about piano probably listened to Horowitz already, they don't need to be told to listen to him.

  • Breathtaking as always!!!!!!

  • wow

  • Horowitz is in a catigory all his own... There's no way I could ever compare. (he's my favorite pianist) I love how he plays with such spirit. I've never heard another pianist who could match him. If you compare me ot him, I'll lose every single time.

  • some day you will be like him..no matter how many years will come..i have faith in you even i haven't know you..trust me,you will.

  • Man.. i wish one day i could play like you. i've been watching your tutorials and im getting on quite well... but i am very far from achieving a piece this beautiful.. i can only play mary had a little lamb and twinkle little star lol

  • this is amazing!

    somehow i felt nostalgic..

  • Ok. Nix besonderes, lass mal den Rest der Sonate hören.

    grüße

  • HAAAAA!! my screens on fire

  • hey really nice vid :) what video editing program did u use to make this? ive seen a few other videos like it around and it looks quite cool XD cheers

  • Hey Andrew,

I really love they way you play this piece! Congratulations once more! I´ve watched your channel for ages, and this is just aweosme!

Also, on another note, if you could take a look at some of the piano videos that I upload on youtube, I would appreciate it. I´m pretty much an amateur, I´m only starting classes now (last month) and I compose my own music. Please, I would appreciate your opinion.

    Thanks a lot!

    Kind regards,

    -gabefox

  • I really enjoy this interpretation! I've only just started this piece for upcoming university juries this year. Haha, and perhaps an audition piece for Uvic transfer, but I'll have to see.. Either way, I really love what you've done with the piece and hope to make mine equally as wonderful.

  • :) thanks so much! that means a lot! Uvic is a nice campus for sure! where are you at currently?

  • Currently at Vancouver island university, It's not the best, but it was the closest to home.

  • u r amazing!<3

  • ahhhhhhhhhh -

  • congratulation!

  • YOUR ON FIRE!!

  • ahh! help! does someone have a fire extinguisher?

  • wow andrew this is something i can lay back and think to.... great job

  • thanks ^_^

  • Bravo!!!

  • *smiles* Bows*

  • hey RobinLaliberte, thats rude. the piece is meant to be enjoyed not to just focus on him. In my opinion the fire blends with the piece very well and brings the pice out even more

  • Wow that fire just ruins it. I like to see the piano player play. I can't see him well. Whats the point of the visual of the player if your just going to stick that fire there.

  • How does that "RCM" thing work,?

I am from sweden, thts why am asking

  • It's the main system here in canada. There are grades 1-10 then the final grade is called ARCT which most all of the hard songs belong to.

  • btw, i love you interpreted some sections in this piece. I'm gonna switch up mines a little bit now. lol

  • what level piece would you say this is?

  • well, in Canada it's graded level 10 RCM. I would say it's not technically hard but it can be a task to get a good decent and clean interpretation. So i would suggest it for more advanced players ^_^

  • How long does it take to learn this piece for someone who has just learned to read notes, but still not fully??

  • uhhh.. well this piece isn't a beginner piece by any means :) I'd stick to the simpler stuff for awhile first. If you take on something too hard you will progress slower

  • applause

  • Wow, playing while your piano is on fire is amazing......don't try this at home kids. Just kiddin. Thank you hon....

  • I love playing this on piano...so relaxing...

  • This is really beautiful. ")

  • Poruszające...

  • You are a truly magnificent artist! I have listened to many of your performances, and I am inspired back to my keyboard everytime!! Thank you for sharing your great talent!

  • inches llamas no dejan ver nada

  • yay! you're so blessed to be able to play this way. :)

  • your touch and tone is amazing... the bass notes sometimes sound like cellos plucking their strings.. beautiful

  • From now on,.. you're my hero ;) Wish i could play at even a tenth of your capebility, but at least you inspired me to get piano lessons, once i can find a teacher in my neighberhood :D

Keep up the good work and also a thanks for your lesson video's. There really good!!

    Greetings from The Netherlands

  • you don't need to search for a teacher .. :)

the man who is playing here (Lypur) is teaching here on youtube..I've actually watched 2 lessons now though i don't have a piano..he really is a great teacher. im sure you will learn through him if you just want to.

greetings and thanks to Lupyr from Sweden, as you know there's a lot of people who really appreciate what you're doing. i wish more people were that into helping others and sharing they're knowledge.

  • Incredible. I can't think of words to describe how you played this piece. :)

  • will you make a tutorial of this piece? if not, its ok. i understand that yer a busy dude :)

  • Very soft and smooth. One of the lovelier versions imaginable, would be my thought... !

  • i love this song!!!!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • The song is beautiful ! Did you know this song by watching Nodame Cantabile? I love that anime a lot ^^ Can i have the sheet music of the song pls! Thanks

  • omg!!!! i love that anime too!!!! lol. Im watchnig the series over for the second time, and its actually what motivated me to get back into piano. its such an inspirational show omg! im working on this piece right now.... u can find the sheet music here, as well as lots of others.

  • Best version I ever heard! :)

  • Very Nice, very very nice. thx

  • OH MY GOD. This is the song I've been looking for! I played half of this before but was not able to finish the song. I love this song. You played it really well. Well, you are a pro...what do you expect. Anyway thanks for playing this song. :)

  • The fire is very distracting although the song is very beautiful!
