@BRUTUALTRUTH You ever had somebody threaten YOUR life? Just becausae you happen to belong to the "wrong" family? Copme on, tell your story! Or else shut the hell up!
I think Mountbatten (or Louis of Battenburg as he was actually called) was asking for the attack. Mountbatten was a man of war and he knew what would happen by entering a war torn country as an opposing royal, despite that he'd been getting away with it his entire career. He was responsible for those on board and he took them into warfare, the deaths of the innocent is blood on his hands, not the IRA. The IRA were/are soldiers doing there job by assassinating an enemy of free ireland
@barrysteelchief are you bloody kidding? The Irish government had personally guaranteed for the Mountbatten family to be safe during their holidays. The locals got on very well with them and to top it - on board the Shadow V was an irish boy the IRA sacrified on purpose for their so called warfare. Some patriots!
ireland abandoned the monarchy, becoming a republic and look at Ireland now: an economic basketcase with mountains of debt. you cannot base an entire economy on potatoes, Guiness and leprecaun. the IRA is getting defeated economically
i am appalled at how namby-pamby, softly-softly Britain has been in dealing with the IRA. if i was the British PM at the time i would have gone in guns blazing. like the americans into afghanistan
@TheAnglopride the british did - they had 27,000 troops stationed in the north of Ireland - smaller than half of the size of Wales and still didnt defeat the PIRA - while its tragic for the loss of life regardless of 'what side' thats what happens in war, so dont piss and moan when you invade another country and get killed
I SWEAR TO THE GOD OUR PROTECTOR, IF I EVER FIND THE KILLERS, OR ANYONE IN THE I.R.A WILL KILL THEIR ASS', APPARENTLY THEY WANT THE QUEEN, THEY WILL NEVER GET HER! LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!
@TheAnglopride That is nasty. I do not always appove of what the brits do, but murdering innocent people is a no no in my book. The man should've swung for that
you idiot, if he swung for that what is to stop the murder of all political prisoners (and Thomas McMahon most definitely was a political prisoner (POW), which was why he was freed after the good friday agreement). Bear in mind anyone the government decides is a dissident can apply as a political prisoner. Thats how the soviets ended up with extensive purges, both political and economic. Hence you are actually supporting the murders of innocent people by your ignorant comment
@barrysteelchief Wow I can see the hate in your post. I am more concerned of the murder of innocent people in this case the kids. So please use your brains and think. Now shut up and let what i have said sink in.
of course he was released under good friday, Thomas McMahon, the man who made the bomb and was (wrongly) convicted of the attack (he was already arrested by the time the bomb went off, hence he couldnt have been the man to push the button) and was a political prisoner.
This old bastard killed many on his lifetme so he got what he dished out. That is life.I am afraid.

Lord Mountbatten was a very handsome man. He was one of the Royals that didn't have teeth that could eat corn on the cob from across the street.
