It didn't worked for me, I replayed the video over and over again to see what have I done wrong but I can't seem to find the mistake. I exported the all the face and body pics with the .bmp format and they are in the right folder.. still when I click on it when build a sim I see no difference with the normal base skins. All I can think of being the mistake here is the version of my bodyshop (which is 1.0 (2005) would It matter if I had a more recent version?

@addicted2fashionandU usually at the bottom of the Save As menu, there's a drop down box that says Format. Click that, and the BMP format is the 2nd one at the top below Photoshop.

@XxQueenSweetDreamxX It's probably because the file you are using is too small for the skin texture. Find photo files that are 800 pixels and larger. These will turn out much higher of a quality than the smaller files.

@10coolcatz You can use any program that has similar functions that were used in this tutorial with Photoshop. Try to find something similar like Gimp or Paint.NET, both are free programs that work similarly to Photoshop.
@JandK813 Paint doesn't have the same capabilities as Photoshop. I was just searching to see if there was an online editing program and I found "Splashup". I don't think you need to download anything, it's all working online. If you click "Jump Right In", there will be a another window that pops up and you can work from that window just like photoshop. However, if there's no other option, try and use Paint, experiment with what you can do with it. Tell me if you still need help finding programs.
@10coolcatz yes, I always use nothing but paint and it's surprising what you can do with such a simple programme. But with skins I have problems. My Sims often look as if they had serious skin problems! Don't know whether it is because I'm just not good at skins or because Photoshop is better for that...
@ThatMrBerd Gimp should work. I'm not certain about corel or paintshop pro as I've never worked with them. However, if you find that they have some of the same tools that Photoshop provides, you can use those as well. xx
hi, does this also work with sims three double deluxe i was thinking of eventually buying that, but i want to know if guys can also wear eyeliner, in the sims three or sims two without expansion packs just for a reffrence, trying to decide which is the better one to buy when i get the money.
@Spike1885 This tutorial does not work with The Sims 3/Deluxe. Male sims can wear eyeliner in Sims 2 and Sims 3 w/out Exp. Packs. To create your own custom content with The Sims 3, you need a program called TSR Workshop. As Sims 3 doesn't have a program like Bodyshop. So, using this tutorial for The Sims 3 custom content, would really be of no help, as Workshop and Bodyshop are two very different programs to work with. I would recommend The Sims 2 if you want to use this tutorial xx

@besthalle8, make sure you are using the correct version of BodyShop. If you have any expansion packs, choose the newest one and open that BodyShop, otherwise it won't work. Oh and it may take a while to start up!

I have not worked with TS3 Workshop, nor can I, because I work on a Mac platform, not a PC. I think you have to google around and find tutorial on how to use TS3 Workshop in order for you to make custom content like skintones, clothing etc for The Sims 3.
@christyfrecita1 You have to download stuff and put them into Bodyshop. There's a downloads folder in The Sims 2 folder, that's where you put all of your downloads in, in order for these things to show up in Bodyshop and in the game.

@sasusakuforever23 It comes with the default skins/hair by Maxis. If you want more skins/hair or better detailed ones, you need to download them from Sims 2 websites like modthesims (dot) info. Registration is free.

@krisvangendt Hmm. Are you starting with clear, sharp textures/images? If they are too pixel-y, it won't show up as sharp. Sometimes though, even if you make the textures of the clothes as sharp and clear as you want it on your graphics editing program, it won't come out as sharp, but just a smidge blurry. If that's the case, I don't think there is any real fix for that. But, if you're starting out with pixel-y textures, then it will come out blurry in the end. Hope this made sense xx

@krisvangendt -- Make sure you have your game graphics set to high. My old computer did the same thing to me, though, and it was because it had an outdated graphics card that just couldn't handle the game well and everything was blurry even on high settings.
my sims 2 bodyshop wont open up when i click it. i have tried restarting my computer, reinstalling my application, and still nothing! is there something that is required for it other than the actual sims 2 game? if so, i could have something not installed... please reply!!
@ArabellaDeluna The only problem I can think of is possibly expansion packs. Do you have any expansion packs or just the original game? If you do have expansion packs, Bodyshop will work with the latest EP that you have.
@LovleywubbyS Hmm. I'm not sure what "abface" is. If you are making a male Sim you can use "amface". If the "afface" is missing, try exporting the skin again and see if it's there. The "afface" file is usually in the first 4-5 images of the project. x
@t0991 Either go through the History Tab and click it to undo merging or click Edit, then Undo. Remember you can always pause if it's going way too fast and I realize that, but I had to keep the video under 10 mins. x

@thekatyeditions I know for the sims 3: Make your sim flirty and then move them in. Type 'ctrl + shift + c' without +s and type motherlode then press enter do this as many times as you can and you will get money. Then go somewhere (in the new town with late night) and look for a celebrity (theyll have stars above them when you go over them) and then impress them with wealth a lot and then become friends, flirt and soon get married. Throw good parties and invite a lot of famous ppl and your in!

@vindicatedmess double features are imported into bodyshop. Like, after i finish everything using photoshop I save everything and create skins for the body to match the head. Then, when i open it up using body shop the original eyes are on top of the eyes I already made.
@luckysister2 By "orginal eyes" do you mean the default eyes that Sims have? I didn't really go into how to import eyes in this tutorial. Eyes and skins have to be imported seperately. But, eyes can be imported and done the same was as I did with the head/skin. Just export the default eye through Bodyshop, open the photoshop file and copy and paste. Then save and import it into Bodyshop. The eyes will not show up automatically on your sim, so you have to go to the Eye Tab & find your custom eye.

@ChanlerGotSwagg I am using a pretty old version, Version 6 or 7 I believe. You can always buy it cheap off of websites like Ebay or Amazon. However, great alternatives of photoshop is Gimp or Paint.NET. Both are free, some people worry that the downloads are unreliable, but I've downloaded it several times and my computer is 100% fine. x

@Simsfreakify Yeah, making accounts can be really annoying and unnecessary but, the free access to all of the amazing creations for the Sims 2 is worthwhile. Modthesims is great. You don't have eto necessarily make anything to download anything. + it only takes a few minutes to make an account. But there are lottts of sites to download free Sims 2 stuff without making an account like Rose Sims 2, Sims 2 Graveyard. Just research on Google and it'll lead you to an answer :) x
hey, when i open my body shop, then i open create parts, start new project, create genetics....i click the skin icon...urs got lots of stuff there and mine only got 4 different color skin...is there some tricks? u downloaded it from anywhere?

@wanTSC92 Yes, I usually downloaded them from Modthesims.info or you usually get them when you download a Sim. It automatically should show up in the Skintone tabs when you download a Sim. The best site to get pretty good quality skintones is Modthesims.

@sasusakuforever23 It comes with the default skins/hair by Maxis. If you want more skins/hair or better detailed ones, you need to download them from Sims 2 websites like modthesims (dot) info. Registration is free.

When i put them in my game they become realy unsharp so the eyes or clothes i made are blurry is there anything i csn do about it (this allso happens with downloaded stuff)

@krisvangendt Hmm. Are you starting with clear, sharp textures/images? If they are too pixel-y, it won't show up as sharp. Sometimes though, even if you make the textures of the clothes as sharp and clear as you want it on your graphics editing program, it won't come out as sharp, but just a smidge blurry. If that's the case, I don't think there is any real fix for that. But, if you're starting out with pixel-y textures, then it will come out blurry in the end. Hope this made sense xx

@krisvangendt -- Make sure you have your game graphics set to high. My old computer did the same thing to me, though, and it was because it had an outdated graphics card that just couldn't handle the game well and everything was blurry even on high settings.

my sims 2 bodyshop wont open up when i click it. i have tried restarting my computer, reinstalling my application, and still nothing! is there something that is required for it other than the actual sims 2 game? if so, i could have something not installed... please reply!!

@ArabellaDeluna The only problem I can think of is possibly expansion packs. Do you have any expansion packs or just the original game? If you do have expansion packs, Bodyshop will work with the latest EP that you have.

@LovleywubbyS Hmm. I'm not sure what "abface" is. If you are making a male Sim you can use "amface". If the "afface" is missing, try exporting the skin again and see if it's there. The "afface" file is usually in the first 4-5 images of the project. x

@t0991 Either go through the History Tab and click it to undo merging or click Edit, then Undo. Remember you can always pause if it's going way too fast and I realize that, but I had to keep the video under 10 mins. x

@thekatyeditions I can only help with tips and tricks, but I am not able to create Sims at the moment. I am experimenting now with The Sims 3 and also, I have switched from Windows to Mac. So, I am unable to create any new skintones or sims. sorry x

@thekatyeditions I know for the sims 3: Make your sim flirty and then move them in. Type 'ctrl + shift + c' without +s and type motherlode then press enter do this as many times as you can and you will get money. Then go somewhere (in the new town with late night) and look for a celebrity (theyll have stars above them when you go over them) and then impress them with wealth a lot and then become friends, flirt and soon get married. Throw good parties and invite a lot of famous ppl and your in!

@vindicatedmess double features are imported into bodyshop. Like, after i finish everything using photoshop I save everything and create skins for the body to match the head. Then, when i open it up using body shop the original eyes are on top of the eyes I already made.

@luckysister2 By "orginal eyes" do you mean the default eyes that Sims have? I didn't really go into how to import eyes in this tutorial. Eyes and skins have to be imported seperately. But, eyes can be imported and done the same was as I did with the head/skin. Just export the default eye through Bodyshop, open the photoshop file and copy and paste. Then save and import it into Bodyshop. The eyes will not show up automatically on your sim, so you have to go to the Eye Tab & find your custom eye.

@ChanlerGotSwagg I am using a pretty old version, Version 6 or 7 I believe. You can always buy it cheap off of websites like Ebay or Amazon. However, great alternatives of photoshop is Gimp or Paint.NET. Both are free, some people worry that the downloads are unreliable, but I've downloaded it several times and my computer is 100% fine. x

@Simsfreakify Yeah, making accounts can be really annoying and unnecessary but, the free access to all of the amazing creations for the Sims 2 is worthwhile. Modthesims is great. You don't have eto necessarily make anything to download anything. + it only takes a few minutes to make an account. But there are lottts of sites to download free Sims 2 stuff without making an account like Rose Sims 2, Sims 2 Graveyard. Just research on Google and it'll lead you to an answer :) x

hey, when i open my body shop, then i open create parts, start new project, create genetics....i click the skin icon...urs got lots of stuff there and mine only got 4 different color skin...is there some tricks? u downloaded it from anywhere?
p/s: i dont have all the stuff like urs...(its my 1st time opening sims 2 body shop) mine only got several things (basic, simple)..so, any ideas?

@wanTSC92 Yes, I usually downloaded them from Modthesims.info or you usually get them when you download a Sim. It automatically should show up in the Skintone tabs when you download a Sim. The best site to get pretty good quality skintones is Modthesims.
