  • The little fleshy folk look cold and listless...

  • very nice

  • I've got very deep depression...this is very good aid for it!

    Ligeti was great artist!

  • Ma dov'è la musica???????

  • @amioparere1 La musica sta qui.

  • @amioparere1 E' lì... attento!...attento!... azz'.. andata!

  • I think it is unfair to "expose" this music along with the other works, because everything else looks then so "decorative" and it truly isn't.

  • What a nice composition!

  • I don't know this music...

  • Beautiful.

  • Well, I understand the music, but I do not enjoy it, I agree with laurion69 that it is a great imposture

  • I understand this music too, but.. trying to feel this kind of music is a step further on (that's the goal, I think).

    Sorry for my english.

  • this is music

  • It's a Quarter-tone piece, isn't it?

  • It's divided into two ensembles, the first is tuned a quarter-tone (higher I think).

    Awesome piece.

  • why reply is bugged ? .. bha

  • Quite eerie. Lovely when they all come together. I got goosebumps.

  • I didn't know this piece needed a conductor lololz. But Ligeti was a great innovator in music, and created new sounds, some coherent (think the viola sonata and string quartets) and some (think Lontano and Lux Aeterna)...not as much lol.

  • and u are bufoon

  • You Know nothing.

  • Great! too bad there was so much noise in the background, and my headphones suck :(

  • 4:20 game me a chill all down my back

  • Gorgeous!

I wish I could play something like that and keep it together!

  • no, the actual piece sounds like it. It s lovely

  • well i think the piece is fine..but this cunductor..looks like this is his first performance

  • This piece is awesome.

And i think this music is not to be understood. Maybe it is just to sit down and feeling the waves.

  • Never do the people understand the art of their own time, NEVER!!!, except when the popes and kings were paying the artists. They even said, Mozart had too many notes

  • damn man i really love this comment

right on buddy i gave u a thumbs up, this comment explains 90% of the crap on all these youtube music videos i watch. all these comments from conservative philistines lol, they are so dim witted but arrogant at same time

  • Isn't that part of the Stanley Kubrick 2001 a Space Odysee Soundtrack

  • No, but Kubrick used other pieces by Ligeti in 2001 and in other films as well.

  • Ligeti is the best thing since Beethoven....

  • I like this piece, though, this performance, and the props around the performance I didnt like at all. Not one of Ligeti's GREAT works... but a fine work none the less IMO. The performance was crap though.

  • Is the performance bad or is this a makeshift recording? I think the performance is fine.

  • There's a lot of noise and disturbances - but the performance is good - they play with verve! Ligeti didn't approve of this opus - but I think it's great!

  • You have to understand that the "noise" and "disturbances" are the music, it's called Atonal music.

  • Is this supposed to be a funny remark?

  • Funny in what way? Atonal music, this is what this is, that is the term for this kind of music. I am confused at what you mean by noise and disturbances.

  • Don't get me wrong. I have heard that piece in various concert halls for many times and also own three or four different recordings. I can very well distinguish between the sound intended by the composer and the rather noisy surroundings. I suspect that the audience was not really up to it. I thought you meant to be funny by suggesting that atonal music is nothing but noise. Sorry about that misunderstanding.

  • Misunderstanding understood, I thought you were talking about the music having disturbances and noise. I also apologise for the misunderstanding. I have been responding to many people who do not comprehend Atonal music and I misread your comment thinking you were another person that needed explaining to. Sorry about that.

  • very beautiful work, but this performance is not the best.

  • That's what the critics said about Beethoven's late quartets on first hearing...

Art wouldn't exist if it art wasn't/isn't pushed to the boundaries.

  • Ligeti, the pure and absolute music genious of the second part of the 20th century... am i wrong? i really really love his work

  • The soap-opera, the advertisements, the movies, radio, TV, enable and habituate the people to listen one kind and system of music; there is no understand but habit. Speak a language and can read is necessary to understand Shakespeare, but his work undestanding is not possible 'cause the people just speak.

{It's important to say that this record is bad)

  • This kind of opinion come certainly of people that believe that they understand the music of Bach or Mozart merely 'cause they can just listen the music. For them, the "right" artist are spontaneuos, don't think, just take the music from the ethereal or the nature. But music, from Bach, Mozart or Beethoven ore Ligeti is product and consequence of thought and intellectual work. The people listen music like speak: from the merely use or exposition. (to continue)

  • You're the fool that doesn't understand this. Ligeti's works are based on very articulated mathematical models. I love his music and I'm not alone. Kubrick asked him to use his "Lux aeterna" in his movie "2001 a space odyssey". If you are little for this music, go listen pop and don't act like a moron.

  • and what does make sense? try to find a sense?

  • Fabulous... Awesome, this music! Only Ligeti to compose this...

  • They never ended the tuning part :S

  • Terrific and terrifying.

I was kinda scared that those baby sculptures would come alive...
